how do we know that the "Big Bang" didnt happen. I really want to get over the thought of that.
I am Christian and I am stressed out about science.

Being a christian doesn't mean you have to ignore science. Science and religion ultimately answer two different questions. One answers how things happened, and one answers why things happen. The big bang and the vast complexity of the universe (and our ability to discover this sort of stuff) is the reason why many physicists are Christians. The big bang can be true just as the Genesis account is true in a spiritual sense. There is no contradiction unless you take Genesis as being a scientific account , which is not what the author intended in the least.

Well in Genesis 1, it says God created the earth before the stars and the sun. But in the Big bang Theory. It says that the earth came last.

You shouldn't take the Genesis story literally. Its meant to be an allegorical or theological text about the creation of the world.

i have some problems with the big bang...

1) in contradicts God's word

2)it contradicts itself; the theory states the the ENTIRE universe was compacted into a tiny ball, but then goes on to say that it was struck by meteorites, that caused the 'ball' to explode. I think "the entire universe" includes meteorites.

3)Pluto is made up entirely of flammable gases, and the sun is the ultimate source of fire. if these were compacted, they would destroy the universe, not cause it to divide into perfect little spheres.

4) the big bang theory never really explains where the components of the universe came from.

5)if all planets came from the same lump then why does earh have life, water, plants, biomes, diversity, yet all other planets have only a few elements and the onlyactive part of the planet is wind.

I am SO GLAD that someone else sees it this way!!!

I always likes my sons explanation. He has an IQ of 168. Science is simply mans explanation of Gods creation. God bless, pickles

I truly believe that science only compliments the creation accounts given in Genesis. But to offer a little food for thought:

Can you think of any sort of explosion that has produced order? Its like suggesting that if I threw a bunch of balloons filled with paint that all of a sudden the result would be the Mona Lisa. Obviously thats an absurd idea. Apply that same sort of thinking to the earth and all that it includes and it just seems silly to believe that this is all one big ordered mess of an explosion.

"New scientific revelations about supernovas, black holes, quarks, and the big bang even suggest to some scientists that there is a 'grand design' in the universe" (U.S. News & World Report, March 31, 1997)

HOW DID THE BALL OF GAS GET THERE?
WHY DID IT EXPLODE?
HOW LONG WAS IT THERE FOR BEFORE IT EXPLODED?

These are questions that need to be answered before the big bang theory is given any credibility in my eyes...

....well millions and millions and millions of years ago..................:p

and millions and millions...............did I mention millions?

Ok......perhaps I didn't....let's see....I'll start at the beginning........well, what I perceive to be the beginning.....coz if something begins it has to have a start and therefore what started it?........hmmmmmm anyhoo.....millions of millions of...........

hey you're finally gettin' it........I hope that answers ya question :p
