I almost felt like i was reading something out of the teens forum with all this," i fall in love with every person i connect with."
That's just ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. The bible gives us the clear definition of what love is, Patient, kind, love does not envy or boast, it is not arrogant or rude, it does not insist on it's own way, it is not irritable or resentful, it does not rejoice at wrong doing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

When we love someone this is what we should try and model, because this is the God given definition of love. So your telling me your ready to endure all things with these guys you love? That's why it's so hard for me to believe this I fall in love with everyone mess, because if your not willing to endure lifes trials with this person then your not in love. Your feeling a bunch of mushy feelings that in the end amount to nada.
What i hear you saying is i'm desperate, i want/need attention so i want any guy who pays attention to me. Not a good place to be in. You gotta get a grip.

ultimately it Seems to me you have a choice to make. You can either A sit around and think about your feelings all day and have a pity party.
Or you can B Pray the lord will fill that void in your heart that you think "only a man can fill" Get outta your house make some friends and stop obsessing over yourself and your feelings. All your focus is on you right now, focusing on helping others tends to really help things ;)

If we didnt fall in love it would make choosing to love simply a matter of picking the Most objectively verifiably suitable partner for ourselves and pursuing them.

Clearly that is not how it works. Love is partial and subjective.

It never works that way in practice either. People are drawn to those that make them feel wanted and valued. Sometimes that feeling is more authentic than "practical" considerations.

A world that does not take emotions into account is a world falling apart.

Sorry, but I am having trouble understanding all this. Why must you allow yourself to drown in emotions, and that too for the wrong person (someone that you have no future with)...and then think about how the relationship is not going to last, and then back off???? And all this just to enjoy that surge of hormone-induced emotion?

We are, no doubt, hardwired to be attracted towards the opposite sex. Being attracted to someone is a God-given tendency, with a purpose. The purpose is to find a spouse. So this feeling of attraction is a means to an end. Allowing oneself to get sucked into an infatuation just because one is lonely does not make sense. Above all, a few such elated experiences may alter us at the subconscious level in such a way that we may no longer recognize when the right person comes along.

Dating is OK for a single person. It is also OK to think, "I wish he or she could be my husband or wife," when we see a god-loving person. How else will we end up finding a spouse? However, getting emotionally hooked up with anyone who looks or sounds impressive is not advisable.

Now, when we talk about the wrong person (or the one whom we do not have a future with), I presume that we are talking about a celebrity or a non-believer or a married colleague or the like. Going gaga over a celebrity's performance (or being their fan) is one thing, but having a crush on them is another. There is a thin line that differentiates between having a crush and falling in love. These terms are often used interchangeably. These aren't as harmless as we make them to be.
Love (godly love) is a verb and not a noun. When we say, "Falling in love" or "Having a crush" we're referring to nouns, and these are conditions of the heart.

Ijustwantthetruth,
How I appreciate your childlike honesty! May God fill that void in your heart with his goodness.

thank you!
i think what a few of you are failing to catch is i'm not jumping into a relationship with people i don't intend to marry. i've only actually ever dated two guys. my last boyfriend was years ago and my first boyfriend was at 22. i don't commit lightly. what i am saying here is that my HEART feels a strong and passionate connection to a lot of people.

truth be told, i kind of fall in love with all of humanity, male and female alike.
but what i'm talking about here is pure attachment. heart longing for closeness and i find myself in love with people i am not committed to in my mind and never would be. but heart. she flies.

i hope i explained that well enough. there's someone on this thread i am biting my tongue not to yell at right now.
but hey. i should know by now when i post on cc that first of all: this is the internet. not everyone is going to understand me or be able to relate to me. and second of all: it is our DIFFERENT opinions and DIFFERENT life experiences that cause us to be so beautiful when we work together as a team.

we can all learn from each other if our eyes are open.

thanks for sharing your heart.

Well..if we have free will ,which God gave us..of course we always have a choice to draw near or pull away from anyone or anything. If someone has fallen in love with another person & it's true love, certainly they can push that love away, sever themselves from it..run from it...harden their hearts from that love if that's what they choose. They will be absolutely miserable I think in the end though. I feel that it comes down to being responsible & owning up to our emotions & feelings that's all. Of course you can be attracted to someone...fall in love with their personality, their heart, their smile, their mind...whatever & it may be an unexpected thing that this happens, but we choose to pursue it. No one forces us to do so. I dunno if I answered your question, but that's how I feel on the matter. I'm not saying I am right or wrong. I just have to go with my heart & trust God I am making the right decision, and as I am submitted to Him,then I'll have that peace that comes with "falling in love".

i LOVE the way you worded this. :) couldn't have said it any better if i tried <3

I would say quite the opposite. To me, a "crush" or attraction would be what you described as a flood of emotions and being attached to a person.

Love is a more than that. Love is selfless, patient, kind. It isn't jealous, it doesn't boast. It protects, hopes, and trusts. Those are more than just a flood of feelings. I believe feelings go along with love, but also what I just said, which came from 1 Corinthians 13. I know that that seems cliche, but think about it. When someone says "I love you" to me, I don't want them to mean "I have these butterfly feelings for you, you make my heart melt", I want them to mean "I want to protect you, I trust you, I hope for you, I am patient and kind to you. And I mean it and I strive for it, even when it's hard."

That, to me, is love. It is commitment; it is both a mixture of choice and feeling, one that is hard to describe. That's my take on it. It doesn't have to be romantic, though romantic feelings can certainly go with it, and I know that is the type of love you are talking about, but I still think it applies. :)

see, i do not think falling in love, and loving a person are synonymous at ALL.
LOVE is a choice. LOVE is a commitment. LOVE is everything you said and more.
what i'm talking about is falling in love. the heart diving through a pool of emotions and serotonin, dopamine, adrenaline, cortisol, endorphin, and oxytocin when another person says your name :D :D :D

i dunno if you can see how COMPLETELY cold and jerkish you sound. you can't relate? that's fine. get off my thread.

...awww, I understand you..., however it can be more than just 'chemicals' too, ie: a deeper soul connection one can sometimes feel...:)

This is the very definition and beauty of true love... LOL

sometimes, yes :) but sometimes....like in this particular case that caused me to write this thread....
i don't feel at all connected in soul to the person i am referring to. there's a HUGE language barrier.
honestly- we barely communicate.

but love needs no language.... it lives, though other things die.
i am not soulishly attached to this person. i just want to be with them. very hard to explain.

again. loneliness. lol. makes ya crazy :D
i think i'll text him tonight and see if he wants to come watch a movie with me :)

tis the curse of the lonely. i have quite a penchant to get attached.
anyone else find themselves falling in love with people they don't mean to fall for?

Uh, yea, I get "butterfly" feelings sometimes.. but falling "in love", not so much..

Btw, You're welcome to fall in love with me. and cook for me.. I'd like the breakfast sampler please... eggs - sunny side up. Thanks.
