This might sound stupid - but its something thats been holding back my faith for months.

My faith was pretty strong until about October last year, then I started having doubts. My faith got weaker and weaker until a few weeks ago.

In October, I went through a period of intense anger - I got so angry one day that I punched my computer and destroyed it. Only some of the files were recovered. But what I lost was of the most importance. I lost about 9 months worth of notes I had made while studying the bible intensely. About 20 whole pages worth of valuable information was destroyed. I really spent hours and hours each day understanding every passage of every chapter of many books of the bible, and writing down what I learnt, and it helped my faith so much.

But now its all gone. I know this sounds silly because it was my fault, but why would God allow that to happen? I know there are consequences for my actions, but God is in control. How could allowing so much valuable material to be destroyed to me or my faith any good?

This needs to be resolved before my faith can increase again. I just don't understand why this happened.

Well Perhaps You misunderstood some of the verses and so God wanted this to happen so you could try again, everything happens for a reason so my advice, is to go back and re-read those verses and try and get more depth in them, that way your understand and your passion for God will be stronger.....

God Bless

P.S It doesnt sound stupid at all!

let me elabraporate "o god why would you do this why would you let research i did on you jut disappear like what kind of would do that"

then i woukd come in and go "seriously at of all the terrible things in the world that happens everyday starvation poverty etc and you ask god why has he allowed your computer to die and that put your faith in jepoardy really is that how it works wow just wow"

Sharp, as I shared a time ago with you.
This was set on my heart for you then, and is now in Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh. :)
Jesus wants Himself first in you.
He asks faith, when all else fails. :)
In Jesus, God Our Father wants you to recieve His understanding through the Holy Spirit.
Not that which you build, but what He builds in you. :)
All you studied is already written on your heart in Jesus.
All will be remebered in a short time, But God Our Father is teaching you to know His word through His understanding .
Trust in Jesus, all will be returned in Jesus soon. :)
Hear this not with your ears, but with your heart in Jesus.

Keep up the good fight, keep the faith! :)
Hugs and God bless.

maybe it was symbolic, maybe your anger is keeping your seeking God with an open mind, so that, just like the files, it is destroying the good things God has in mind for you?

We all suffer.Because we suffer does not mean we sinned a certain kind of way.He Sharp got angry and he is a human being.Just asking all keep trying having that compassion and pity in empathy on others.

Relationship with jesus is what saves, not notes about him.
And it happened because you got angry and punched your computer. Same reason why I got angry a few months back and threw my mouse at my monitor costing me 600 dollars. People get angry, but liked I learned from a devotion a little while back after destroying a bunch of personal stuff is that the best thing you can do with anger is tell God about, or even scream at him. Hes big enough that he can take a little human being screaming at him and smashing stuff. Jesus got angry once , smashed a whole temple of stuff and kicked people out.

Also I spent 12 years or so working with computers. Hard drive recovery is ENTIRELY possible.

Let me elaborate.

Why don't you go jump off a bridge mate.

hmmm, well your answer is pretty logical and easy to answer. Let's say you got angry, and you threw your bible at a bond fire or something like that. It's not like it's going to supernaturally be kept intact even if it helps you know God better, in fact any material thing could be broken/altered, that's just the way life works. You got angry and damaged your computer, simple as that.

I know. But if we believe that God intervenes in the affairs of man, (and I believe that he often does), then why could this not have been one of those situations? It would've saved me months of grief.

simply because anything we do here has a consequence. God intervenes in situations where His name could be glorified. Your reaction was not something that really glorified God, and so it obviously wouldn't have a positive outcome or intervention of Him.

Well you believe that God intervenes in the affairs of men. Why would you think He would do it? The reason He intervened in the first place, by giving His only Son to all humanity, was to do exactly that, so that His name would be glorified. He intervenes in the lives of people so that people can give Him the glory.
But in your situation you are just suffering the consequence of your actions, much like anyone who did something like that would.

Adrianv, Ive not seen anyplace where God's power cannot intervine. :)
But I have seen the scripture.
It is in our weakness that Gods power is made perfect (glorified).
Jesus took our sins that we may live in Him.
Seems to me that in Jesus, all ones failings wiped away so one can be made new in Jesus!

In Jesus, God bless.

Luke 4:9-12

9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:

‘ He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you,’

11 and,

‘ In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”[a]

12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.

Ok, look at Jesus who is God. Did He have the power to call out on angels? Totally. Could He have jumped off and angels would've come to the rescue? Totally. But guess what, this also applies to everyone and everything. Don't go off breaking stuff and expect it'll come out intact and no object is an exception.

But Adrianv, we are not Jesus.
Scriipture also says, His understanding no one can fathom, God never wearies or tires.
Yes, we need to always see or sins, so that Jesus will bring in us His rightousness.
But I have seen always, that it is not about how we fail in Jesus, but how in faith His presance
overcomes!
But many of failing has Jesus taken that failing and made glorious His work.
Bringing witness and salvation , lifting up out of the muck and mire, His glory!

In Jesus, God bless :)

If one perposely breaks, in demanding such repair, then one sees this as folly.
But ones weakness, of sorrow or desparation. This is where Jesus brings His presance in one who has repented.

Yes but that's a different topic. He's asking why God didn't supernaturally keep His bible study notes. Well simply because His computer broke and it's only natural that if you break something...well it's broken.

The answer is, how do you know God hasnt? :)
Maby not in the worldly way one asks, but in that which will bring all that is His Love and glory.

You are correst in saying that one should not tempt the Lord your God. :)
But Sharp is asking in faith, is it possible for God to restore?
All is possible in Jesus. :)

in Jesus, God bless.
