I see
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
that would be 24/7, how can anyone get anything done here on earth if our heads are forever bowed, eyes closed, and hands clasped together?

So prayer is not as stated prayer is by religion is it?, or is it? Since we are to never cease from praying to God
So, what are we praying for at least three hours a day? Is it for self only, and those we agree with only in our religion(s)?
You, decide and thank you for being fervent to Know Father and Son. I am in process also
I do not see Father, Daddy, PaPa and Son as religious, do you?
I, see for me if religious, then it is me trying to get God to be pleased by me doing things right over things wrong. When it assuredly pleases others around me and maybe not God, you think?
God is the creator, I am God's creation. I see. to respond to God and stop creating. you think, I think? thanks some gold nuggets for us all to hear from Father of risen Son Jesus
And might even ask this as well to Father.
How, can you Father get anyone to love you in truth, without taking away free will?

I look at praying as collecting strength from G-D in JESUS this is how I believe HE has set it up... as for the free will, will have to think about that, not sure I have spent much time contemplating this!

I was told to warn them about being lukewarm warm... To explain to them what that means...

my understanding of being lukewarm warm is when we pray hot, ( I suggest three hours a day, as The late John Wesley said. I read in his journals (in good faith) "he never thought much of a Christian that did not pray three hours a day...")

I'm a bit confused. You stated you had a direct word from God [which means you are claiming to be a prophet] but then you state your understanding [which is your opinion] and personal suggestions. I don't see the requirement of 3 hours of prayers in the Bible. I'm not saying it's wrong to pray for 3 hours a day, but people may pray less or more. The amount of time doesn't negate or invalidate sincere prayers, whether it's 1 hour or 8 hours. Nowhere does God tell us He won't hear us or we are less Christian unless we pray 3 hours per day.

God is clear and concise. If He is giving someone an alleged word, it's not going to be based on anyone's personal understanding or suggestions. He's also not going to give us 'new rules' not found in the Bible. Just sayin'.

(was my favourite for a time)
love lifted me up, I have totally sung this, requested this at church, and also photo copied the lyrics... haha,,, I am not as young as I appear.

ok you say 3 hours a day sounds legalistic, will not argue the point, only rather I quoted John Wesley as I remember from his journals.
( I certainly would not tell John Wesley he is legalistic, haha, I would hope I would spend more time listening to this man of G-D)

his quote was he never thought much of a Christian that did not pray three hours a day, I take this to mean... your telling me of your problems & you do not even pray three hours a day,,, why don't you go pray three hours a day, and see if the problem is still there?

when I say three hours a day that I would suggest it gives people something to hang on to, and not be dismissive.. how many people hear pray without ceasing, and perhaps give it little thought (do you ponder)? an encouraging reminder. ( had a hard time turning the bold off here)

I will check out the site truth seekers fellowship, next week.. long weekend of work ahead of me.. until then. ( & looking forward to it !)

there was a song, until we meet again, many others I will familiarize
myself with, perhaps you will help motivate me to sing again!

I am promoting a study of prayer on the Hermeneutics thread, which I am posting to the website Lesson 11.
Paul refers to praying continually, but surely he means being conscious of GW as we are working/living
rather than being on one's knees in a closet (cf. #20).

curious are you saying you would not suggest 3 hours of prayer a day?.. if not what would be better suited for these hours?
a loaded question no doubt...

perhaps your just saying this is not what the Bible is saying in this one passage ... I remember Peter saying we will continue in prayer, ( sure he implies hours of prayer, while Stephen was to see to the widows that were left out of the meals ( paraphrase)

in addition, how much value would you place on prayer, or are you saying it may be legalistic, or works... I maybe putting a lot on you when it is not there, I am perhaps addressing other posts as well.

in my mind/heart/education there is nothing more important that prayer..

how about JESUS, HIS prayer life,,, also when HE goes into the Temple
and turns over the money changers tables, and says My FATHERS HOUSE shall be called a House of prayer, and you have turned into a den of thieves..... (New Covenant ) we are the house of prayer, we are the Spiritual Temple.. I cannot see how anyone can get around this.

also I am not even sure why Christians would resist prayer advice, I suggest 3 hours a day, would you contradict this? as a new Christian or a Christian in the world reads our posts, one saying 3 hours of prayer a day, and the other says, not needed?? also I said it was the late John Wesley that said this in his journals... again trying not to make this about me.... a powerful example of a man of GOD, no?

food for thought brother... I would encourage you to pray and encourage others to pray this is our food,,, this is our connection to GOD Almighty Thru HIS SPIRIT in JESUS

frustration, yet not at you, in love and peace and for edification of the body of CHRIST, is my purpose I hope...

No, I am noting that just as with regard to tithing the NT principle is that we are stewards of all we have,
but how much we give to charity is not specified (although 10% seems reasonable), so also the NT principle
regarding prayer is to walk in prayer continually, but how we do that is not specified, so we are free to pray as we feel led,
and it only becomes works when we feel guilty for not doing it per some man-mandated specification.

I am aware that some folks seem to have a gift for prayer, whereas my tendency is to pray for God's will to be done
and move on to some other activity.

And regarding having a word from the Lord: We already have how many thousands of words from the Lord in Scripture?
So we should not get discouraged because our insights get pooh-poohed or ignored on CC.

ok like the dialogue,, and how you worded your post.....

I suggest three hours a day, I just sortov went on ( hopefully not a rant with another brother, perhaps you could read that to GHW)

I say that, what I was told, was to warn them about being lukewarm Christians, also to explain to them what that means... so does this make me a prophet?, ( I certainly have not claimed anything of the sort, yet my words stand in truth ( as I understand things))

I have claimed to be the foolish things of the world, and the chief sinner, this I proclaim....

I suggest to people three hours a day, and as I said this was a quote from the late John Wesley, not me, I think this is a solid guide for Christians trying to tell them the importance of prayer, when you say, people may pray even more than 3 hours a day, most excellent.

in this I agree, and might have stated this, I would really advise to pray until you have overcome the flesh, in general, or specific area of sin. ( doing battle against sin, mortifying the deeds of the flesh Romans 8)

there is so much I would say on this subject, like I did say I believe many many books could be written. like I believe prayer is our Strength, as the Jewish people collected manna in the desert daily, so we to must pray daily to gather our strength that is lent to us on a daily basis.

as we engage in the world ( Egypt) we get drained ( our spiritual strength) and the less draining, or more draining certainly would affect our prayer time.

Our focus or concentration I would suggest during prayer may affect prayer times. Also how close you are to GOD in JESUS on this particular day, example sometimes it may take longer than others to start receiving strength, in my humble opinion, as I heard another brother say, it took me a while to get thru. ( perhaps you have distant yourself from GOD recently, or have remained close. ( this may affect prayer time)

if this is all foreign information to you?, and I suggest you need to pray the longer I humbly suggest, or start with the three hours.

This is why I just made a suggestion, and quoted a famous Christian, thinking you would not resist his advice, trust until we understand things better, ALL The GLORY TO GOD in THE HIGHEST, in JESUS GREAT NAME.

I would leave you with this, IF GOD has been Educating me, and has told me to warn, and explain, it would stand to reason, HE has prepared my message...if you do not believe that, I understand yet I will pray for you, and you should pray for me as well.

if you look for the fault in man, surely you will find it!

you do not have to look far to see mine....

I might suggest if you look in the spirit of my warning, and not for fault in the letter

thanks for the peaceful reply, ultimately it is our decision I assume to filter thru the messages( from others) and THE HOLY SCRIPTURES , I cannot say enough about them ( Holy Scriptures), they guide all of GODS Creation, yet many will be on the broad road, as the Scriptures tell us... meaning many do not understand or are misguided!

GOD had set us instruments to warn, and guide, at The HANDS of THE CHIEF Shepherd, our Precious LORD & Saviour. I know you will not disagree with this, as the BIBLE is full of such individuals.

I would suggest to you 10% principle is of the old covenant, although a guide, is that what you see the early Christians putting at Peters feet 10%...

is reasonable in the Bible?, The Call is To love GOD with all our hearts and all our soul, and with all our mind, and with all our strength. & to love our neighbour as ourselves.

how you ever really thought about this. I suggest we do not dismiss this easily.

in love and peace

Regarding the warning not to be lukewarm, it is more a reminder of what GW says than a new prophecy.
Now it remains to explain what that means--again with reference to Scripture, such as Eph. 4:11-5:20,
because we should never divorce prayer from learning God's Word, which go together.

Yes, the tithe is OT, although reasonable for us today.
Yes, reason is in the Bible. Paul reasoned with various people including the Athenians,
and per Isaiah God invites people to reason with Him.

Trust me when I say I am nothing, I am truly the foolish things of the world, & in all I understand the once arrogant, and prideful position held in my heart has been beaten into a corner.

That said I am still full of rebellion in my own way, and praise THE GREAT G-D of JACOB still under HIS Education (training as I understand) & Mercy, & of Course it is by Grace we are saved, not of works lest any man should boast.

I see this as there is no deal to be made with G-D to get me into heaven, only Grace & the Blood of JESUS, yet I have a KING, and it is foolishness to remain in rebellion against HIM, joining in spirit with the
enemy

three things occur to me that one might think, 1) I am lying, which will do me/us Christians no good, 2) I misunderstood or am delusional, you judge 3) I am telling the truth & as Christians you should encourage me to follow my Direction from JESUS

-------
I was told to warn them about being lukewarm warm

To explain to them what that means
------------

my understanding of being lukewarm warm is when we pray hot, ( I suggest three hours a day, as The late John Wesley said. I read in his journals (in good faith) "he never thought much of a Christian that did not pray three hours a day")

Read your Bible, ( I also need to adhere to my own advice)

Sing Unto The Lord ( again much work needed here by me)

-------
cold would be partaking in the things of the world, (symbolic Egypt).... may include tv, phone, internet, gambling, gaming and such the like.... the lusts of the world, lack of temperance (control), ( mammon, food )

The list here is quite extensive, the lusts of the flesh, promoting self, our wants, promoting the devils kingdom in our hearts, or in the physical world. in a sense agreeing with the rebellion against G-D Almighty in our hearts! doing what you want, promoting self.

As opposed to death to self, the self can never put JESUS 1st in our hearts.

Only by G-D's Precious HOLY SPIRIT Can we mortify the deeds of the flesh, and have JESUS in HIS RIGHTFUL Position in our hearts.

Praying and Reading our Bibles, we collect G-D'S Spirit in all I understand, our food, our strength, our power, lent for the day.... ( as The People of the Book, Collected the Manna daily, each morning anew (symbolic))

when we engage in things of the world (flesh) we drain this strength, leaving us Luke warm... if your not even praying three hours a day or reading our Bibles, what temperature do you think we are? For we start our day Luke warm at best in all I understand.

I think many, many books could be written on the subject of Luke warm Christians and what this means, this is a small snap shot.

one thing I am learning the hard way, is this walk is most serious, although we are to carry The Joy of the LORD in our hearts always.

I am learning when The G-D of Jacob Gives me Direction, it is a very, very serious matter, not to adhere.

lo I have told you

may G-D Bless all that have read this far, IN JESUS GREAT NAME, especially my Christian Family. May The GREAT G-D of Abraham encourage you in JESUS MIGHTY NAME I pray.

until that day, in love & peace your brother in CHRIST
God spoke to you personally and individually?

Revelation 3:16
So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.

Hello and thanks for the reply.

Not trying to be harsh, but this is the truth: The minute you proclaimed you had a direct 'Word from the Lord' - complete with an explanation from God Himself to pass along - then yes, you have put yourself officially into the 'prophet' category and are accountable for that word.

Notice in these passages that God gives the title 'prophet' to anyone claiming they've been given a direct message from Him, whether they spoke truly or presumptuously [falsely] and He holds them accountable as such -

Deu 18:20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in My name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death. 21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

Jer 23:25 “I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’ 26 How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy delutions of their own minds?

The problem is that you've tied this as well as your personal understanding of lukewarm into your 'Word from the Lord', as if this is all from God. God has not mandated 3 hours of prayer, nor has He given us your particular explanation in the Bible, which is extremely problematic. If God had truly spoken, He would not need anyone to insert their understanding, suggestions or opinion. I hope that makes sense.

As for me, I find the Bible's warning and explanation of lukewarm to be completely sufficient, no outside addendums needed. Take care!

even better,

I see some Christians seem to take exception to that three hours, it was a statement from John Wesley, to which I certainly agree.. it is only suppose to be a guide to those that do not understand the power or need for prayer....

I assume, (guessing) that many Christians, or (nominal Christians) perhaps have never been told you need to spend such time with GOD in JESUS NAME praying...

if one understands praying without ceasing, even better!

sounds excellent, if you need no other warning, or suggestion, the warning is only for those that need.. and the three hour suggestion was a quote from John Wesley, so how does this go unnoticed when your reading and saying I am trying to proclaim this as GOD WORD?

if I am telling the truth and was told to explain what Luke warm means, I am in my heart trying to do such a thing. nothing more, and I thought I worded that as such!

when you say that somebody proclaiming a false message would be in serious trouble, I think I said that as well, in my opening statement.

I might ask this, if a Christian was struggling with sin, and I said to them, John Wesley suggests three hours of prayer a day. would you say no need?, it is a guide to help others, maybe I am missing something..

this site is a site for Christians and perhaps very little warning are needed. certainly the words I have proclaimed are under scrutiny by some, perhaps this is positive for my learning. I have certainly felt I have learned a few things.

take care yourself
my claim stands, and I do understand ( seemingly ) what danger a false proclaimer maybe in.

God spoke to you personally and individually?
=============

if it is in the book of Revelation, He did not speak individually
as I understand to answer.

I understand the warning ( my personal understanding) as a gross darkness over the people, and we do not know the depths of satan or the seriousness of sin, and taking sin lightly.

a warning

you make your own judgment, there are many conversations I tried to be open and explaining, some I think are lost on my wording.

Yet some I think are unfairly scrutinized. If I said John Wesley suggested, I am not claiming anything else except what a man of GOD wrote and thought in his journals.

your question seems to suggest you do not believe. that is understandable, yet what have I really said, pray, read your Bible, sing unto the Lord, depart from Egypt...

do not be a lukewarm Christian
yes I said GOD HAS told me to warn Christians, and explain to them what that means. lo I have told you.

if the message was far from the Bible, it would be easy to dismiss.
if you still find it easy to dismis, I would only suggest do not be on the broad road, seek to enter in at the straight gate, as the Bible says.

aChristian2 I strongly suggest you take the advice of Citizen to heart.

is it better to listen to men or to GOD?... i

advice in general can be good, however as I have said like over and over again, I did say that the three hours was a quote from John Wesley.

I can see this does not go over well. I certainly could say pray without ceasing, as I think this is much better. I guess I was thinking perhaps many just glide over this passage. three hours would give someone struggling with sin a starting point, a guide

a guide from a man of GOD, JOHN Wesley, which I thought would have more weight... I am actually surprised it doesn't, unless it was my delivery.

that said would I tell someone they should pray without ceasing not to be a lukewarm warm Christian..( how would this have went over,?)

take care, believe it or not, I am only trying to be obedient and help those that may need help, or are lost and do not realize.

I will move on.

Take care!

, you say pray without ceasing... most excellent, most excellent

as for a lying prophet, that is a very serious, and scary part of scripture.

I reread my post, I did say I SUGGEST three hours a day, as John Wesley quoted ( after all this I hope I have not misquoted him )
that is not a demand but a guide, for those that may not understand pray without ceasing as you have said

thank you for your input, however in your response it seems you have totally missed that I said suggested, and a quote from John Wesley. In my mind your saying I said something I did not.

however communication can leave more questions than answers sometimes, as I am the foolish things of the world, so perhaps it is me that misunderstands.

hopefully we will all laugh about this on the other side with JESUS, that day we will love one another no doubt.. If you see me as deceiving, I have only tried to edify, in my heart.

no more controversy as you say, take care.
