I remember when a trip to our local swimming pool cost just two cents. This made it hard for my mom to pull that "I don't have money for swimming" excuse so we went about 3 to 4 days a week during the summer months.

I remember when, as a boy in primary school, our September afternoons (after school) were spent sitting high up in a mulberry tree, enjoying its fruit. Like the birds, we didnt collect them and wash them etc. We ate them there and then, in the tree. Then we'd collect a few unripe red coloured mulberries. We would rub the unripe ones on our hands to get rid of the dark stains left by the mulberries we ate. Worked like a charm. Some running water would then remove any trace of mulberry on our tiny hands. when our folks got home from work they would still work out that we had been up in a mulberry tree.... we'd neglect to clean our lips and the area around our mouths.... And I just thought my mom had some Angel telling on us while she was at work.
