i slapped my wife for cheating

First, deal with you. You keep using the Bible to defend what you want. That's not how this works. You understandably have a lot of anger. However Jesus tells you to love your enemies. Jesus tells you to remove the log from your eye before you try to remove the speck from another's eye. As a Christian you must look inward at yourself first, then trust God to help with the rest.
 
Where are you trying to go with this thread? Do you want advice? Or do you want vindication/approval for slapping your cheating wife?

I can't specifically give my approval in this instance, since I've only heard your side of the story. However, at face value, I can greatly sympathise with you and so I'm not going to condemn you either. Maybe you were justified in what did, but maybe, at the same time, it would have prudent not to hit her? Afterall, look at the consequences now.

I'm not saying she is without fault. But you can't control other people's actions, just your own. Don't try to justify your actions because of what someone else does (even your wife). Sounds like you both need help. If you're seeking legal custody of your children, you will have to prove to the judge that you're the better parent. Which would mean not hitting or threatening your ex-wife.

What is it you're trying to find out on this site?

If you're expecting Christians to agree with you about your behavior, that is very unrealistic.

How much does Christ love the Church? So much that if we are willing to confess our sins to Him and repent from then He is more that just and right to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Are you larger than God? When you sin does God send a lightning bolt at you? Did you know when you sin willingly you commit adultery against God? Don't you know God will judge every deed, hidden and external? If this is so then your reaction to your wife was not biblical.

Yes it was completely wrong that she cheated on you, but every adult human being who believes in Christ receives discipline from God, even your wife. Just an earthly father is responsible for the discipline of his children, our Father in heaven is responsible for the discipline of those who have acquired the right to become children of God through Jesus Christ. Those who are not His children He will deal with, and it will not be very pretty for them. If your wife truly is or was a Christian, she is or was your sister in Christ. Would you physically harm for example, a brother in Christ who sinned against you? I really hope and think you wouldn't. Now, your wife is supposed to be much more important to you than any other brother or sister in Christ. She should be your treasure, your jewel. What you should've done was to do what our Father in heaven does. When we choose to walk out on Him He will just let us go on our own. And once we realize that with Him we have it all, and that He provides it all for us and loves us with an everlasting love, and we want to come back to Him He has His arms wide open for us waiting to forgive us and cherish us once again, just as the parable of the prodigal son.

This might sound incredibly weird and impossible for you to do, but you must apologize to your wife for what you did to her. It doesn't matter what she did to you. You did something against her, and we must not repay evil for evil, but we must repay evil for good. And here is why:
Matthew 5:3-10

For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.

I hope the Holy Spirit shows you the way to go and the things to do. But trust me in this, if you apologize to your wife I know God will do something amazing in your situation. Humble yourself, just like Jesus Christ humbled Himself for us.
 
I don't know what the rules are here at CC. But this man needed the word of God. He needed to be ministered to. He needed the direction of the word. I don't understand why he was banned, only the administrators do, but I don't think it was correct. These people are hurt, broken, and worst of all compelled to do things out of their evil nature. If he was a brother in Christ, we could have helped him in humility and love to understand what God expects from him, instead of banning him. I understand that there are situations where people are banned because they are offensive in language and are purposely violating the rules here, but I don't know if this man did. Whatever the case may be, instead of bashing on him, pray for Him because he has a broken spirit. Losing your wife, your children, and reacting the wrong way is something very hurtful. Of course his reaction wasn't right, and seeking to justifying it wasn't either. But oh well, this situation is up to God now.

This is a prayer thread...what do you ask us to pray for? I do recommend you seek counseling for your anger. I pray for God to watch over you and keep you safe from evil temptations to use physical force on another being.

I got a feeling he was just being a troll.
 
Man, I TOTALLY understand how you feel, not only has she lied to you, she has broken your beliefs, taken your kids, and absolutely ruined your life and brought shame upon you through divorce.

You believed she was YOUR wife, she was the woman you love, the mother of you children, and she betrayed ALL of that. The guilt my friend, is on HER shoulders. The shame is on HER shoulders. SHE is the one who has explaining to do to God.

But you my friend, need to be sorry for your part which is hitting her. When you are sorry for that and realise that it was anger and hate, and realise that she WILL be held accountable in mind, soul, body and in judgement for her actions, that is when you can let go.

Only then can you have the joy that God has waiting for you.

You need to repent for what you did, because even though you feel she deserves it and is getting off lightly, she won't get off lightly. Be a better man, conquer that evil with love.

Have a beautiful relationship with your children, live in humility, and apologize for what you did.

After that, which one of you deserves happiness in God's eyes?

Which one of you is the abuser in God's eyes?

Which one is the one who broke the faith?

Which one is the victim in your kids eyes?

But don't ever play on it, don't ever say it, don't ever pit your kids against their mother. Apologize, move on and know that God has something planned for you.

Live your life in a way that makes you the better man, and you are blameless from then on in.

I am sorry to hear what has happened, but there a fakes, fonies, liars and cheats out there. Lambs dressed as mutton my friend.

You ARE not going to let yourself stoop to their level anymore.

Repent and watch God give the justice by making people see what she is, and see what you are.

I agree with you, the man needed direction,he was wrong but maybe he needed to be listened.

I think you answered your own question here. The administrators have the responsibility of monitoring "conversations" and evaluating the motives of participants. While they are probably not always right, I believe that the tone of ickabod's responses showed plainly that he was not interested in open discourse, but on disrupting CC with his radical behavior.

Furthermore, we do not know if this person was also involved in chat rooms and exhibited the same type of behavior. I think the administrators were correct in "nipping this situation in the bud". CC does not need people who are not interested in true Christian principles.
