I really get bothered by the us and them mentality that if we aren't of the Right Religion....please someone tell me exactly which one, (religion), that is so I'll know o.k.? That the offending religion and those following it are going to hell automatically.

Who or what is God's church? Is it a building? Is it a particular denomination? As I read my Bible I have learned that God's church are His people.... not a building or a denomination so if that is the guideline to be followed that His church are His people.... Where do we find people? Everywhere...... So contrary to popular belief God's people can be found in all churches no matter what the name is above the door.

Shocker......even in the Catholic God has His people.....

My sheep hear My voice and they follow Me that is what Jesus said. God's people follow His voice and do what He asks them to do. Other denominations outside the Catholic church do not have a special bond with God any more than God's people that follow His voice on the inside of the Catholic church. Because another shocker..... lots of other churches out there don't teach total truth either lots of them have a few false teachings also.

We need to stop judging each other about what we think we know about them and if we are saved or not and start listening and building our relationship with God our Father and let Him and the Holy Spirit work on our brother's and our hearts. We need to start letting God do the convicting of hearts and making the changes needed and be more loving and kind to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Blain is searching for understanding of Catholic brothers and sisters and this thread has turned into another try and bash a Catholic of which there are plenty of those threads. How about we get it back to the understanding part and loving them. Praying is a much better option than accusing and assuming things we don't really know about them.

I would like to point out that I am using scripture to judge their beliefs as I said in my earlier post in this thread, I am not simply basing them on love I am using scripture and have already proven them wrong about Mary

I am learning about him by constantly spending time with him by reading the word by deepening the love and bond and relationship with him. When he spoke this to me I didn't know the scripture at the time as I had only just begun in faith and had only read a little of the bible, so I think since God is love and the scriptures say to seek him above all else who I heard must have been him.

I learn from all sorts of sources I learn from cc I learn from church I learn from my mistakes from my past but He has always been my teacher and I laern the most by spending time with him however that may be

indeed to learn the best go to the source. btw ty for understanding my reason for doing what I am doing and knowing I am not going to switch faiths. I have seen that everyone is worried that I am going to be misled or become confused or even switch faiths and I have also seen that many fear I am going into this without testing all spirits with scripture.

However I am not going to switch faiths period, I am not going to be misled or become confused because I have such great confidence in God and I trust him completely to guide my every step and of course I am going to test everything with scripture how else can we know if our views or beliefs are correct? I did however run into an issue, some of these Catholics asked me where in the bible does it say that all beliefs and views must be according to the bible and honestly I cannot recall where.

You see some of them not all but some do not hold the bible in a very high view and question if it's even God's word at all and they know that some of their beliefs are not according to scripture and are man made but they also say that my belief that everything must be tested with scripture is man made. if I could only just recall that scripture lol

I wouldnt call warning someone to be careful on who they follow "bashing" another, there are practices that go against God that people need to be careful about.
There may be people here bashing others, but I dont think the majority of the people here are "insulting" the catholic church, but warning another member that there are practices they have that go against Gods word. Disagreeing does not equal hate.

It could be any subject. Religion, music, conspiracy theories, etc. I've seen people get bashed for it.. :/ And worse than that, they also get called names such as idiot, dummy, stupid, etc ad nauseum..

The problem is many people equate "Loving you neighbor" with accepting their false doctrines about God.

Many claim we do not "Love" someone if we reject the false doctrines they teach.

This is a ploy by many people who have refused to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior but yet still want others to see then as True Christians.

God clearly tells us they will be those who attend our Churches and worship with us who have never accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. These are the Tares in the Scriptures that God warns us about.

The Faith we have the Jesus is God, is a Gift from God. We ourselves do not have Faith apart FROM God because the Faith we have COMES from God as a gift.

Not everyone will receive this offer of Faith. Many will reject it.

No doubt there are heartfelt people in false religions. Some grew up in them, and they haven't yet seen that it does not match the bible. Catholics are encouraged to NOT read the bible, as it is distrust to the priest. First of all the bible says for each one of us to study to show ourselves approved unto God. And it is mentioned that some studied DAILY to see if what the apostles said was true. It did not say not to study because that shows distrust to the apostles. Second of all, the bible says we are all saints and priests in Christ. Each one of us has the responsibility to share the gospel with others.

When Jesus died on the cross He said it was finished? What was finished? He fulfilled the old law, He was the only one who could, and He nailed it to the cross. At the end of Revelation He also said it is finished. What was finished? The New Testament/scripture/His instructions to us- the bible was finished, and He said not to add to it or take away from it. But the Catholics did add to it. And the rules they added do not match what the bible says. For example, they say to pray to Mary. But the only way we, or our words, get to the Father is through the Son. Prayer is a form of worship, and Jesus says worship the Lord your God and serve Him only. He says cast ALL your anxieties on HIM (not her). If you cast some or all of your anxieties on her, you disobey God, cause He says cast them all on Him.


And the pope is trying to take Christ's place. Christ is the only head of His only body. He appointed elders and demons in individual congregations, but only He is the head of all the congregations. I was a child, but I remember seeing people bow down and worship him with my own eyes, and he accepted it gladly. But even as a child I refused to do so.

The Catholic system has not changed its foundation of heresy against God. This is still why as happened during the time of the Reformation by Martin Luther and others stood up against this false system, because people were not allowed to have Bibles and read for themselves.They were at the mercy of foolishness of this false system. So of course they are following blindly because they have not studied to know that man cannot forgive sins or send you to the lake of fire and release you again. They are all fear tactics from the enemy of souls.

The best we can do is pray and live a godly life before them and speak to them only with scripture by the leading of the Holy Spirit. God is merciful to all and not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance. Its important that we give God's message and also that we don't miss the boat ourselves.

What is the use of having "right" theology if this "rightness" gives the license to treat people without ethics? Paul called this a "resounding gong or clanging cymbal." Does God grade people on some theological curve? Is something earned if a person's theology is spotless? Can someone's theology be spotless if it allows them to dehumanize a creature made in God's image? Why is "right thinking" elevated above "right action?" God values the intellect more highly?

Or, is the drive to theologically adjust everyone (as amply demonstrated in BDF) really an excuse for our own bad behavior? Or, to put it in gospel terms...does the BDF value spotlighting splinters while ignoring the distortion caused by our own logs?

Is that your "right" theology? The point being this forum has all kinds of theologies even ones claiming we should have none.
As I said, I try not to get personal...that's as ethical as it gets.

Umm, you sure have your list and checking it twice,...I have heard that love doesn't keep score as well.
In any case, I try to keep my attacks non personal (if you dig you'll see I fail at that too).
I will attack when I deem (yikes, I'm judging ) poisonous doctrine that sickens souls is being spread, and don't count me to back down. Perhaps some of the true seekers will sense that sincerity and respect it more as a stand for truth (which I hope they are seeking) than if I give friendly nods and winks to be liked even when lies are being propagated.
Paul had a similar attitude with the Judaisers in Galatians.

I just don't see BDF as a social circle as say Miscellaneous or some other forums. The friendlies should be carried on in those.
BDF is different, it is a doctrinal free for all, where serious errors come with a smile masquerading as truth. It is no place for Rodney King, and I wish that those who cry "let's just all get along" in the midst of a heated debate would go where they all can get along. As I said, when it gets personal, then it has crossed the line.

There's a huge difference between calling out crappy beliefs and attacking people of that belief. Or even assuming everyone in that belief believes what they're being told they believe. Notice I didn't include everything that was said. Much that was said was going after the beliefs. That's good. But attacking the people who believe it? Not good! Here, Misc, or in BJ's Wholesale Club at 24th and Oregon.
