I wonder, when do you think the idea of using buttons happened?

This morning as I got up, putting my my shirt on in the dark, this question popped into my mind.
Please take some time to think about it, and without doing any research, give me your thoughts on the subject.
  • Did the person who came up with the idea get a patent?
  • Are their descendants more wealthy than Musk?
You get the idea........

Christians are really deep thinkers – aren't they?

I know this thread was meant to be a bit of a light-hearted joke, but to us sewers and crafters, it's actually kind of fascinating.

Funny thing, a lot of sewers hate having to sew closures such as zippers and buttonholes into garments -- I've seen collections of garment patterns for sewers who don't want to install either -- so they often use elastic, snaps that can be hammered in, or a large boxy style that slip over the head.

This was such a cute thread idea, I just wanted to add a few thoughts from someone who used to fight with making buttonholes! :D

For the record, I have used those snaps that you can hammer in. For some materials they are great! For others they don't hold, no matter how hard you try to hammer them.
 
Buttons are such a simple idea I expect they were invented by Adam & Eve; or perhaps by God who made their first clothes.
