Honestly even if I don't make any money from it if the forum itself makes a difference in peoples lives and leads people closer to god that would be enough for me my only thing is if it's time consuming.

Hi Blain, my motive to start a Christian blog/froum was this bible verse: "Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together." Psalm 34:3 A Christian forum such as Christianchat.com is a type of blog but much more complicated than what a simple blog is. It would benefit you greatly by trying out on your own to make a personal Christian Blog. They are given to you for free from "Blogger" and you can have an unlimited amount of individual blogs for free. Just google "Blogger" and they will walk you through the process at no charge to you.

A blog is nothing more than, "A coustom templetate," which Blogger supplies to you free of any charges, plus you add your own desired gadgets and widgets that Blogger also supplies for free and then presto you've made your first blog. This is exactly how I got started blogging through the help of a Christian friend 5yrs ago. I told my friend that because of my physical limitations due to cancer treatments I wanted to start a Christian blog to Glorify God, over the internet and worldwide. My point is to learn the steps of creating a Christian website by creating a simple blog "for free" and then move on to bigger dreams like creating a Chrstian forum. virtual assistants, YouTuber, customer service, transcription etc

and i think Steph will doing great on YouTube.. you have amazing talent..
just collect 20k viewers from total video.. and then register adsense.. then you'll start making money.. 1000 viewers you'll collect 1$.. but you have to be consistent to upload or that amount will reduce by the next month..

and if you can DIY.. you can join local market.. like farmers market, or register for event nearby..
like making candles, jewelry, printed wood quote, etc.. i think those stuff didnt need license to sell there..
and if you have remaining you can sell online or post on fb group..
if you have Facebook there are lot group you can join..
garage sale, farmers market, event and many more..

Oh and Steph, if you can afford for food license it will be cool to sell cake/cupcakes/donuts/healthy food make by order or just joining local event.. you'll make good amount money from that

You know I am still tweaking the Christian forum I made, I don't know why but I have always been into making forums and always considered running one but never really jumped into it because I don't know if running a forum is extremely time consuming or not. Has anyone ever run a forum before and do you know how time consuming it is?

If that works, also you can apply at local hospital to be a sitter with patients who need one.
No work required.
Call for a nurse if necessary.
The bigger the hospital, the more work that is available.

Only the first couple months require patience. It'd work for you both.

i've tried up work, but unfortunately people don't tend to hire you if you don't have any experience at that website, which I do not.

I do like the list that was provided of all the possible work from home things, hilariously I have actually looked into a bunch of them. But the problem with me is that I can't have a set schedule because I have to be able to help my dad whenever he needs me to be there. The one that I've considered the most is to be a content writer for a blog and make small posts, but the other problem arises that I have no transportation or money outside of my parents to be able to research whatever it is they're doing. So for the most part I kind of have to stay within what I know I can do, which is kind of catalog what I'm doing at home because that's kind of my life right now. I could definitely do more Bible reading and study and focus on that too, but it basically kind of revolves around my working as a caregiver, my art, my faith, and the stuff that I do to kinda entertain myself in between.

It's almost like there are so many ways and so many means to do if that my brain gets all frustrated and fogged up with too many ideas.

I knew people who did more than one site. But 20 hours a week. Once it gets to the part when it brings in money, they'd keep working that one and start another.

The keep-working-it is being part of the community, (like minded people with similar sites, usually involves joining communities), keep learning what the readers want to know, keep adding to the articles, (two a week), and keep up with the changes in search engine algorithms to know what is black hat and what is white hat. (White hats are the good guys who do it with a moral compass. Black hatters are scammers.)

One of the guys I knew had about seven sites going when I knew him. Each one was making him at least $20,000 a year. He quit school to keep up with it, because he didn't have time for both. He also didn't have much of a social life. He was doing this for about seven years by then and he was a millionaire. And 24!

The other guy was a married man with three kids. One was a newborn. He had four sites, and had already quit his job. He was starting his fifth site for his newborn son. It would pay for college for that son.

It is possible to do more than one site at a time, but, (for both of you), I recommend learning how to do it before starting. You don't even know if you want to do it yet. (Well, you want to be an Internet sensation, but do you know what you want that to accomplish yet, or how long you want it to last?)

And, once you learn how, then pick a subject. Not something that suits for now, but something that fits your personality for life. For instance, losing weight is a popular subject, but what happens when you do lose it? Not much to write about then, right? Or caregiver would work, but what happens when your dad goes back to work and he doesn't need your help as a caregiver anymore? (That's the dream, right?) Would you still be interested in keeping it going, and, if so, how?

But illustrating will be with you for the rest of your life. How does that fit into what others are looking for? What do you want them to get out of your site? AND what do you get out of their sites? Because it is a real relationship with your community.

Honestly, I was where you are now. I went off in a million and one possibilities. By the time I learned how to do it, I was down to one -- teddy bears. By the time I settled into that, I had a better idea. I'd rather tell a fictional story of their lives then keep blogging about their real lives. So I really did consider this as an income source for the same reasons Blain has:
1. I can't work traditional hours at a traditional job.
2. My body dictates what I can and can't do.
3. I could use the money!

And after all that, I found God sent me in a different direction, so I never needed this particular choice. Which means those 1,000,001 possible choices I had when I started came down to, "Not for me after all."

That's why I want you to learn it first. It answers the big question. "Do I want to do this enough that I'll invest the time to learn and then implement what I learned?"

Obviously, I've got no problems with "no" for that answer. My fear is you and Blain are thinking, "Build it, and they will come." It's more than that.

Never ran one before because there isn't enough time. I knew a guy who spent half of his family's fortune trying though. It failed.

Hi Depleted, I have a Christian blog that was started about 5yrs ago dedicated to honoring God. It is basically my personal weekly bible study that is uploaded to the blog. My question is how do I get more readership and what does "Learn SEO and PPC advertising mean." Hopefully this will be helpful to Blain and Stephanie toward creating their own style of blog. I know there is a learning curve to overcome but I was able to create a blog for free though the help of Christian friend and Jesus my Saviour! Thank you and God bless! -- The learning curve is steep. It requires many hours to learn what those anagrams mean, and then months to learn how to do it. If someone isn't willing to take the hours required to learn what they mean, they won't take the months to learn how to do it. If they aren't willing to take the months to learn how, then they aren't willing to take the years to implement. This isn't a get-rich-quick plan. Learning to dedicate effort tells how committed the person is into doing the hard work for no pay.

-- I learned how 13-15 years ago. A lot of what I was learning was changing fast, because that's what keeps the Internet working better and better. Back in those days, Google was a fairly new company. It had just passed Yahoo for preferences in search engines for people. And when you did a search on Google (because "googling" wasn't a word yet lol), the top results were scams when I started, and relevant when I stopped learning. I didn't know something named Bing would come along back then. Chrome? Chrome was something that used to be on car bumpers. Blog was a new word. YouTube was new, and just something to play with. Webcast? I still don't know exactly what webcast are and why people flock to them. When I was starting to tell Blain about this, I looked up the forum I learned most of what I learned this from. I haven't been back in about 5-7 years. When I was there, it was full of articles about all of this, along with its forums. The last time I returned it was all webcast. (First time I ever read the word "webcast." lol) Now it's gone. Not only do you have to learn it with your own commitment, you have to keep up with it nonstop too. Otherwise, you're completely lost in a few years.

PPC is still out there. SEO has evolved to something much bigger than when I learned it. And anyone who wants to make money on their site, is going to have to learn it on their own, or pay money to people willing to take money from anyone who doesn't want to learn it.

Bringing back to something about God, asking me to explain it is like asking me for a quicky Bible study on the word "Lord." I'm happy to point out what it means, but the study itself is too big to do for someone else.

I know of a family that has a garage/yard sale every weekend.

They purchase items from estate sales or other yard sales and buys them cheaper. You learn as you go along what you can get for different items.

Some yard sale people will give you their items at the end of the sale if they haven't gotten rid of them yet. I'm sure your church would donate items to help you out as well.

Lots of people are telling him to do scheduled work, but that's impossible. Having a yard sale would require him to be able to keep all the stuff in his house until the sale. Then he'd have to haul it all out into the yard on a weekend. Preferably every not-raining weekend. And, at the end of the day, haul it all back in.

He's physically disabled. Not always, but sometimes. His body dictates when it is willing to do something, not his mind or his heart. Bodies don't necessarily accept weekend is a good time to work. And, even if he was able to store the stuff in his home, is he able to haul it all out before 9 AM? And, if he can pull that off, would his body allow him to sit out there, talk to potential customers, (or do nothing but sit there, because that happens more often), and stay outside in the weather for 8-10 hours in a row? Followed immediately by having to bring what's leftover back in.

Several people have given suggestions for physical activity. I know Blain is capable of physical activity because he's often talking about how he takes long walks with God. But that's on good days. He also lies down and waits to feel better on bad days.

That's the problem with being physically disabled. We never get the schedule on which is going to be a good day and which is going to be a bad day. (And, if I did, I'd be trying to tell God why that bad day is inconvenient. lol)

Ways to make money are going to need to be parred down to with-no-scheduled-hours, not-physically-demanding, and cost-no-money. (Alas, yard sale requires money for marketing, even if that means poster boards and pens. For a good yard sale, ads in local papers work better.)

Again, not aimed at you, Rose. Just noticing in the wonderful expression of love where everyone is coming up with ideas, sometimes we have to remember down sides.

Sadly all Lynn said is true, my body doesn't let me do what i want, I love physically labor something about the sweat and the hard work is just addictive to me and whether it's mowing the lawn or working out at the gym I give it my all, the problem is I over work myself because my body doesn't have the stamina others have, my body will tell me to slow down and I will be like no way I either give it my all or else don't at all and sadly this always ends up with me on the couch unable to move for at least two days lol.

I was asked to do this very thing a few years ago by friends and neighbors, at different times over
the years, for family also.
I was a 'new Christian', when people first began to ask me to stay with or sit with their families, in or out
of the hospital...
I felt most honored that some one would 'trust' me stay with and care for their 'loved-ones':
just saying here, that back then, it was one of the most dis-comfortable-things imaginable,
the furniture was atrocious for trying to 'sleep'. -
mind you, I'm doing this between working and adjusting my work and home schedule,
mainly, because I felt to honored and trusted, - guess what I found out many years later?
their 'own families' and 'ours' could have easily taken care of them, just by taking turns,
or sharing the costs, most were and are quite well 'off'...
I mostly didn't get paid...
I was totally 'poly-anna'...after serving my fellow man, in this particular way many times,
our Lord Jesus (final) informed me that I was a 'baby-sitter, sitting-in for those who didn't care enough
or love their loved ones enough to even take an absence from their jobs, for the ones that did WORK...

of course I realize this was just part of my growing-up in Christ, but it was and still is a very hard
thing to learn, just how far 'families' will go today especially, to dis-own and give-up, ignore their own,
the ones who Jesus used to give them their chance at life!..
