Excellent! I'll be the thief who gives you something to worry about.

It's kind of a synergy thing, y'see. If we were a DnD team you would be the ranger, searching the doorway for traps, and I would be the chaotic neutral, trapping the door for searches.

DM: Sigh... Okay, Rod roll a perception check. Lynx roll an agility check.
Sniper, no swiping.

It's all the truth. I saw it go down. Mostly in Skype. A bit on this very forum.

WhatsApp seems nice... But we have a much smaller, much more chill group now.
This is another thing I wrestle with, since a big part of my calling (that I can't seem to shut down) is trying to bring people together.

Over the years, I've agonized about trying to start up another Singles chat group.

But for right now, I'm spoiled -- I'm in a tiny chat of less than 10 people who have all met in person or plan to, and for reasons of privacy, safety, and harmony, we keep to ourselves. We have A LOT of varying beliefs, life experiences, and philosophies, but somehow, God enables us all to get along. The people there are so chill and God-loving that the group literally just runs itself.

I mean, as an example, I was raised with the belief of infant baptism but through my own studies, now believe that a person should at least be able to choose to be baptized. And even though some people there might believe differently, they DON'T try to stone me for having a different belief!!! It's truly amazing!

However, I am always feeling the need to try to help wider groups of people get to know each other, and can't get away from the feeling of wanting to do "MORE."

It's just that, I'd like to be able to keep my sanity while doing it!

Lately I've been thinking of trying to run a modified version of a Singles Group here on the forum, as best we can with threads...

But we'll just have to see what God has in store. :)

I appreciate your concern, Elizabeth -- very sweet of you. I sure hope I don't sound like I'm drowning in self-pity.

I think it's more like a defeated sense of sadness than anything. I went in wanting to help people, but started to see the realities and came out of it all as a bitter old lady!

One VERY happy thing to report though is that we do have at least one happy couple who believes God used our group to bring them together, and I am so thankful for that!!

I do have to say, I'm grateful for the hands-on education it gave me. I try to see everything as a learning experience, and hopefully it's just all preparation that will allow me to better serve, comfort, and help strengthen singles in the future. :)

Thank you so much for your kind words!

We are happy to have you here and I am pleased as punch that you would sign up for the activities committee!

We like having fun here in Singles -- we occasionally run threads such as, "The Singles Forum Goes to the Movies," and I'm sure your talent as an activities coordinator will be a great addition to such discussions! 💖
Ha! No, you don't sound like you're drowning in self pity. I think you have every right to feel the way you do because it is sad. The sad reality is that people are going to hurt us, do what they want, and do wrong things without repentance even if they claim to follow God. It's an unfortunate truth. But it still hurts those who are trying to be kind and in your case, lead a group. It's easy to get a little bitter. :p

Thanks for the welcome! Can I also sign up for snacks coordinator? I like to bake. :) I'll get the popcorn going for movie night.

In that case, I guess I'll be showing up to all Singles Group Events wearing this t-shirt:

I greatly appreciate your kind understanding -- people like you are what keep me going!

It kicks in my stubbornness and makes my inner rebel want to look for loopholes around all the problems!

I think my heart just stopped. Oh my stars! This is even better than manna from heaven.

A BAKING AND SNACKS COORDINATOR??!!!

If we Singles aren't talking about being single, then we're almost guaranteed to be talking about food!!!

@Elizabeth35, you are going to be VERY popular in this forum!!!:love::LOL:

Haha! Let that inner rebel loose! Be free!

The best thing about my baking? No sand or desert walking!

I just looked over the poll, and I have to admit, I mostly wrote that as a bit of light-hearted sarcasm.

And the fact that people would sincerely sign up for these teams, and, knowing the people here in Singles -- I know they would truly pour their hearts into serving others here -- touches my heart very deeply.

Thank you so much for reaching out in the midst of your own struggles to help others, and thank you for participating in this topic! 💖🙏💐
