Should We Warn Others In Advance About Snoring Slumberers?!

Hey Everyone,

In our Christian Chat Cruising threads over in Singles, someone asked me if so-and-so would be a good candidate to share a cabin with -- and if I knew whether that person snored or not...

This got me thinking -- because it brings up a VERY good point!!

What is the Proper Etiquette for Snoring?

* If we know someone snores, should we rat them out -- or just let poor, unsuspecting potential roommates discover that on their own?!!

* If your wife/husband was going on a women's retreat/camping trip with the guys, would you warn their friends that your spouse practically sucks the curtains off your windows at night -- or do you let just them all fly blind??!

* If your child is going/has gone to summer camp, has snoring ever been an issue -- whether it's your child -- or everyone else's that snores?

* If YOU were going on or have been on a trip where someone COULD have warned in advance you that they or someone you're rooming with snores -- but they chose NOT to tell you -- would you be/were you upset?

* If YOU are the snorer, do YOU warn others in advance -- that they might need to bring earplugs?

I'm going to post a multiple choice poll that will show what everyone answers.

Of course, I can't possibly include every possible answer, so come back to the thread to defend and explain your choices.

Looking forward to hearing everyone share some VERY CONTROVERSIAL thoughts -- about snoring!

I have a funny story to tell...on myself!
My dad had to move in with me because he was going through a flood. One day, I had gotten home from work. I had a crazy schedule and was really tired. I usually wound down to an episode or more of the Xfiles. I'm comfy on the sofa in the living room and I fell asleep. I'm deep in sleep. Meanwhile, my dad comes through the living room to go to the kitchen, but he stops and goes back to his room for his recorder.
The next day he says, "Girl, I have something I want you to listen to." He turns on his recorder. I listened and he asked, "Do you know what that is?"
I replied, "Well, it sounds like a semi shifting gears. What is that?"
He answered, "That's you! Snoring!!" 😅 :ROFL:

I think it's a good thing that I always sleep alone lol.

There's a lot of truth to this!!

I'd never heard any complaints about me snoring until I shared a room with my honorary niece (friend's daughter.)

We found her on the couch in the living room in the morning (on the other side of the house,) so I guess that was a hint!! 😂

I've never had anyone else mention it, but it's probably because of my insomnia and early bird tendencies -- sometimes I fall asleep after the other person and wake up before them, so all my spectacular snoring secrets stay safe!! 😎
 
I found a video on youtube of 10 hours of Semi shifting gears sounds. It indicated that it was relaxing! Maybe I'm not so bad after all :ROFL:

My wife tried the recording bit on me. That noise couldn't have been me. I stayed up all night to make sure no one was doctoring the recording. There wasn't a single snore recorded on the entire night's recording.

How high of a level do y'all think you could tolerate in someone else?

I'm a light sleeper...

But I try to be understanding so for me, maybe up to a 7...
 
It needs to be descriptive like those gale force warnings. What is it, like light breeze, windy, whiny, gusty, gale, tornado, hurricane...

Should I tell them depends on why I am telling them, and I usually don't have a reason.

I wouldn't worry about telling somebody that if I had a good reason to though, because most people don't get mortally offended about it.

I don't know why some people go overboard in the description though, like "you were sucking the paint off the walls!" That's just mean.

Kind of like the Richter Scale for earthquakes, but for snoring!
