I'm 22 year old female. I've been looking for work, trying to get back into school I've gone through so much trial and error. I have a horrible relationship with my mother, disconnected from both sides of my family for various reasons. I have only two friends in my life , my fiance and my best friend ( who lives very far from me). I feel like have no support group to fall back on while I'm dealing with this depression. I was put on Zoloft but the side effects were intolerable , it made me feel like I had a terrible hangover for 3 days. I stopped taking the medication now I just feel stuck, I continue to go through every door I believe that God has opened for me only to have the devil push me back out into the unknown. I have no job, no money, no education, no transportation, no support group, and dwindling faith. Please pray for me I'm so lost and alone in life.

Kuidaore, hugs and welcome to cc. :)
All you ask and need are in my daily prayers in Jesus as long as you need.
Ask your dr about suppliments, certain ones are very helful in fighting depression, and do not have the side effects.
My daughter battles depression, and has had good results with certain suppliments .
Psalm 23 is a good scripture to read and remember, it often is the comfort needed, and does restore the soul. :)

God bless

Sometimes the fewest friends are the best, because they might be the greatest friend you could have ever hoped for. And it sounds to my like god is leading you to something much better than you could have hoped for. I know how hard life can be but you fix everything by asking god for hope and strength. Staying positive is the best thing for you right now, Lay your problems at the feet of Jesus. Just ask him to take all your worry and pain away and he will. He sees the effort you have put in and will not leave you dissaitified. some scriptures to help you from one of my favorite books. Mathew 5;6 Those who want to do right more then anything else are happy because god will satisfy them. And then there is one here I think will fit in your situation the most.1 peter4;12-13 my friends do not be surprised at the terrible trouble that now comes to test you. do not think something strange is happening to you but be happy hat you are sharing in christs sufferibg so that you will be happy and full of joy when christ comes again in glory.

Something to think about even though you are in a hardship no Job, no this or that.
Did you know that you and everyone have been designed in such a way, that whatever a person thinks about the most dominates them. Your feelings along with everyone's are a result of ones dominating thoughts, This what depression is.
So try this a game, try to be depressed right this moment, but the rules are you cannot have any dpressing thoughts. Try to be angry without any angry thoughts.
This is why we are called to renew our minds, for this world is and can be depressing. So from God's vantage point did God not say that God would take care of your every need? Yes God did, so it is up to you to excercise this and say something to this effect, I do not know how you are going to get me out of this situation, but I know you are going to for you said you would, now I do not care how long it takes because I now know you know what is best for me and apparently what is right now is and you have a reason, I am now going to thank you that I have life, food and shelter, and I know that you will somehow see me through, I do not know how, and I am going to quit wasting my energy on how, and just continue to pound the pavement for that Job, for that support, and trust that all will work out for your good which in truth is actually for my good. you also said you would never give a snake, in place of a piece of bread.
Love you homwardbound

Oh my, I'm so sorry. Me and you are in the exact situation. It is hard but keep on it. Anti-depressants or anti-anxiety really don't work. Have faith in yourself, keep on your path - you'll find a job. You just need to find a good way to exude confidence. You have a soon-to-be-marriage, that is good, and a friend - that's more then nothing. I'm sure there are a lot of people you can talk to on here, including myself.

You have a support group here. Keep us up on what's going on. Your fiance, tell me (us?) about him.

Kuidaore, there is a help group out there and it's right there at your finger tips. It's the Holy Spirit and he wants to live with in your heart. He'll go with you through the lowest valley and he'll shine with you on the highest mountain. He will make you feel good about yourself again and the love that comes with him is the purest of all love. But you can't hold on to the world with one hand and be reaching out with the other. He just dosen't work that way. The bookmark that I use when I'm reading my Bible reads ( men that walk with God never walk along ) and that is so true. So ask Christ to come in to your heart and whatever comes your way let it come through him first. God Bless.

Sweetheart! :(
I wish I could make you some tea and pass the tissues!

Here's how it's worked in my life--God has often had to allow me to get deep in before I look to Him for help. I know, I should have known better...but I didn't. We moved for the third time in 10 months, and I had just given birth to our sixth child, and I could not unpack boxes. Just couldn't get the kids' rooms set up, or arrange furniture, or do anything but stay current on laundry and feed the children. My 2 closest friends came to the house every day to ask what in the world was wrong with me, and try to light a fire under me, but since I had no idea what the problem was, I couldn't answer them or do anything else.
But God...(the 2 biggest words in the world :) ) heard the cries I didn't even realize were soming from my heart, and a Christian brother (who is an MD) called me every day asking me to come to his office. Very gently, he told me each day that he thought he could help me. I didn't even know I needed help, I was so far down! lol (sound familiar?) He realized I had had what used to be known as a nervous breakdown...clinical depressive disorder is what they call it now. You get so deep into it you don't even remember what the sun (SON) felt like, yeah? It's hard to remember how you used to feel, and it's really hard to think of a way to feel better, or even to want to, some days.
And so, beloved, I say to you...but God :)

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
(Ephesians 2:4-7)

Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. (Galatians 4:7)

but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong
(1 Corinthians 1:27)

If you have been saved by grace through faith in the sacrifice Jesus made, every one of God's promises belongs to you, sweetheart!
The enemy can't push you anywhere, beloved. He is but a tool in the hand of your Father, and no one (absolutely NO ONE) can get between you and your Abba; your precious Savior. ♥
I think there must be something to the idea that what we dwell upon affects our emotional well-being, otherwise God would not have told us to think on lovely things. (Philippians 4:8)
I encourage you to draw near to God, dear child. And to thank Him for every good thing you have in your life. And to put on a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. :) (Isaiah 61:3)

Try to remember that your God wants to take that spirit of heaviness, and bear all your burdens, and give you beauty instead of ashes, and the oil gladness instead of mourning, and He really actually did that with the sacrifice of His Son, and your redemption. :)
Have a follow up appt with the doc---they should know you stopped your meds. They may be able to offer you something different, and as pickles said, there are alternatives in the health food store. Sometimes we need our neurochemistry rebalanced, and that's okay.
I just want to encourage you that with all the messing with our brains, we have to get the Lord back in there to have our hope restored.
Don't allow the enemy of your soul to do the only things he's good at---lie to you, steal your passion for God, and destroy your hope in Jesus, which is your rightful inheritance in Him.

I hope you have a lovely wedding, an even better married life, and that you'll forgive me for my sermon! lol
with so much love from a mother's heart,
ellie

oh--I did pray for you, sweetie, and I will keep praying. ♥

Call out and ask Yahshua the Messiah to come into your heart my friend, be reconciled with Yahvah God our Heavenly Father who is Loving and kind always.

It is not that the problems all go "away" overnight, but that he will Love, strengthen and guide you through all things my friend.

You will feel brand new, Loved and Never alone.

In reading your post a few things came to mind:

1) Clinical Depression is a recognised mental illness and so needs to be treated; when I read Christians making wide sweeping statements that 'antidepressants don't work' it is quite clear to me they just don't know what they are taking about!

In your case Zoloft gave you bad side effects, you need to contact your doctor straight away and tell him what is happening and to put you onto one that suits you, also be aware that antidepressants will take at least 3-4 weeks to work and so for the patient to feel any benefit from them.

The severity of your Clinical Depression will dictate how long you will be on antidepressants, do NOT stop them after a few months because you are feeling a degree better, finish the course that your doctor recommends.

Also know that the Lord Jesus also experienced Clinical Depression during His earthly lifetime and so knows only to well how you feel and what you are going through, He is full of compassion and love for you and is interceding for you every second of every day! Heb 2v17,18, 4v15, 7v25.

A balanced approach to any sickness is to get treated by the medical profession AND prayer for healing from Pastor/Elders at the same time.

2) Do you belong to a living church, does your Pastor/Elders pray for the sick by anointing with oil and laying on off hands for healing (to fulfil James 5v14-18), if not, find such a church and ask for the Pastor/Elders to pray for healing for you.

3) Surround yourself with loving prayerful Christians who can pray you through this difficult time.

4) Are you sleeping with your fiance, for if you are this will be hindering your relationship with the Lord, the physical relationship between a man and woman (ie sex) is to be enjoyed within marriage?

5) In praying for you, I feel you will come though this, but it is going to take a bit of time, so use this difficult time to get close to the Lord Jesus, also, I feel the following Scripture (Joel 2v25) is relevant for you:

'And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten...'

Yahweh Shalom

Lots of Love here on CC!

You have been given loving advice.
My prayers go out to you too!
God Bless, Shekaniah

i will pray very much alot special for you,i am bi-polar,i have learned in the dark moments when you can not see to just pray through it all even just Praying out the Name Jesus,He will hear you and God is allways close to the broken hearted and those stuggling,it is not important that we struggle but how we struggle,my bi-poar-ness for me is a blessing in the way i saw my Need for Gods Love and Came To Christ,of course the down side are harder times emotionally and spiritually,i have what i call a double edge sword,i would never wish this on anyone. The flame of the Candle of Of Spiritual Life,Jesus will not let go out, even when it is small and flickeringg at times.I pray you have Jesus peaceful peace loveful love-ing love, graceful filled grace in the Good Goodness of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Your Heart, and Your Life will be Abundant,Full, and Meaningful,as Jesus says in John 10:10 amen.

I pray for you.

There are many medications besides Zoloft for depression.

Life has its ups and downs, I think at this point you can only go up!

there is a lot of research around the idea of writing down three things you are grateful for every day really helps. It doesn't sound like much and I don't mean to trivialize your pain. You might try it for a month.
