I had to work extra hard at work. Because they had a special reading night at the school. I had to run a head of everyone and try to get things cleaned up before the parents showed up. It burned me out, and of course the teachers were all happy go lucky, enjoying themselves etc. Depression came over me, and I felt stupid.

There are questions that I could answer. The problem is, nobody ever asks me questions that I know the answer too. That makes me look stupid! They had some tables out. The leader told me that they were going to put the tables back in the classroom. Next thing I know someone asks me where to put the tables. I said which ones? As it turns out, they had some that went back into the classroom and some that went into the storage room. So I ended up looking dumb. I guess they don't pay me to be smart.

I guess you can pray that God will help me to feel better. Or help me to pick up on things quicker. I don't know. I just hate feeling stupid all the time.

When I get tired, my depression goes up. The way people, at work, treat me, or rather ignore me, doesn't help either.

From what I can gather from your posts you are definitely not stupid.

I understand full well about depression too as I have suffered with this since my teen years. I believe my depression stems from anxiety about different things, most of which I have no control over. What I try to do is to do my best with what God has graciously provided to me. Each day I give my cares, worries and fear over to God.

You are not dumb either but rather had to deal with conflicting instructions. Sounds like the school where you work has serious management issues pertaining to the staff.

I will indeed pray for God to deliver you from depression and lift up your self-esteem.

I have worked for 50+ years, have had good jobs and bad jobs but at the end of the day, no matter where I work or the position that I held, it is still just a job. Yeah, a lot of times it just sucks so I just suck it up. Someone asks me how I'm doing and I say that I'm dealing with it.

In the words of the great prophet, Forest Gump:

"Stupid is as stupid does."

You are far from stupid. Your excellent writing proves it. You are a gifted writer, I can tell. You express yourself without the need for boring dialog tags and unnecessary punctuation.

I would encourage you to continue posting on this site. Try to give us something we all can use. Topics may include:
  • Scriptures for coping with depression
  • How To Fight the Good Fight
  • 5 Best Ways to Meditate On Scripture
  • How To Find Peace With God
Also, don't forget to contribute to the poetry forum. You'll see some of my horrible contributions there. I know they are awful because of the lack of comments! I still post anyway since it liberates me as a writer and allows me to "get it all out."

The point is, you have something to contribute, I can tell. This site will let you do that, and before you realize it, you'll have far more validation from your friends here than you ever will at work. :)

After reading your nice comments, thought of adding this information to this thread.

Last year I read a book called "Depressed People of the Bible: Freedom from a Cave of Depression to the Light of Life" by Jeff Zaremsky
Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Depressed-People-Bible-Freedom-Depression/dp/0768459338

Last night at work, I listened to the Ryan Ries show. Even Christians can suffer from depression.
-----------

In today's episode Ryan is joined by Trevor Tyson of the Podcast Trevor Talks & Founder of Transparent media.

Trevor shares his story of being a Christian and being used by God but at the same time dealing with panic attacks & depression and how the lord continues to lead & guide him through this journey of hope.

Lies from the enemy. Rebuke these in Jesus' name. Seriously.

You sound young. If so, younger people tend to be more insecure. That's normal. Not healthy necessarily, but not abnormal. However, aside from trying to understand the roots of that insecurity (no proper father figure around, maybe some abuse of some sort), also know that the enemy of your soul is waging a war for your mind. You need to win that war. This can only be done by rebuking those lies, and staying in regular contact with God on a daily basis.

God did NOT make you stupid. Got it? Good. Now go tell satan, in Jesus' name of course, where to put it.
