Okay, so it's a new semester in college. I'm actually in classes with a lot of cute girls. The problem is that I still having a problem making friends with those girl, or even talking to them. Obviously because of that I have no or almost no faith that I'll be able to get a girlfriend if I can't even talk to them.

Basically I'm asking for things I can do to change this.
Also is there anything in the Bible that could help me with this(making friends
Maybe some good preachers doing a sermon on this. Something that help increase my faith in this area.

Yes you DO have a SIGHT problem!! Scripture tells us to KEEP OUR EYES ON JESUS, not go looking around for some temporary solace in the form of a female body that will rend your emotions and cause you grief!! IF you keep your eyes on the LORD and His word and be a DOER of His Word, and be praying for your GODLY WIFE, HE....HE, JESUS will answer that prayer.

You should read the book "kiss dating goodbye" and another one by Stephanie or David Herzog.

You either read it wrong, or I wrote it wrong. Basically, I have a good amount of faith in every area(that I can think of.) except for God helping me find friends, or a wife.

I know what you mean sometimes it just seems impossible to find the courage to talk to someone new, and I definitly understand feeling lonely. The best advice I can give is really pray about it and trust the Lord. He will lead you in the direction He wants you to go even if it seems hard to see now. It's better to wait for the right person than get involved with the wrong one. Besides you might find when you really give it up to God and stop worrying about it finding someone won't be nearly as stressful or hard, have faith

Dothack: Forget about girls.. They will bring down you GPA faster than anything. Just be yourself! Make 'FRIENDS and don't worry about "girlfriend". Focus on Jesus first, then your family, then studies, then your job, then friends. It's all about priorities and CHARACTER. Other peple will see how you handle your life and be drawn to you because they like what they see.

People put too much emphasis on relationships and worry about being stigmatized as being single. If you are not a happy person by yourself then being with someone isn't really going to help either.

You may have gotten yourself into a vicious downward spiral. The reason (95% of) people are too shy is because they are focused too much on themselves. They are worried what other people will think of them and care too much about their own self-image. If this is your own problem, then it sounds like you've gotten yourself in a spot where you are now worried about how people (in this case girls) will perceive you, being shy. It's like worrying about the fact that you worry too much.

Stop looking at yourself figuring how to become someone who will attract people. The fact that you're looking too closely at yourself is the problem to begin with. Looking at yourself even harder will only make it worse. A real relationship is focused on the person(s) external to them.

I was struggling with the same thing for a while, but have started to just give up on thinking about talking to guys as a means to getting a boyfriend (sad but this was my thought process.) In high school I was too shy to talk to guys and never even had a guy friend, so whenever I talked to a guy I get a rediculous crush on him that based on nothing. Anyways, I'm still really shy but I make it a point to introduce myself to people to I sit next to class and say hello to them, which has helped me to make quite a few friends both guys and girls. And while I haven't gotten a boyfriend out of it, or wanted more than friendship from any of the guys I've met through classes it has helped me be more confident in knowing that I will someday make that connection on God's time. And you could look at it this way: You may feel more than ready to be a relationship with someone, but maybe the person God has choosen for you isn't. I know for me patience helps with trusting God, so as far as advise I would say just push yourself to say hello and start conversations, and pray for patience. :)

Hmm, I think your putting way too much pressure on yourself as for finding a girlfriend, Relax man, If it's God's will to let you have a girlfriend, he will, But only when he decides is best, You should really just trust on the Lord ;)

There are a lot of people who are really shy and can't easily make friends, but they still manage to get a partner. So what that you can't befriend girls easily? If a girl likes you, then it doesn't matter. If a girl likes you, then she'll come and talk to you if won't talk to her, so no problem.

Really.. you think if a girl likes you, she won't come and talk to you?

Ask that God would give you faith. Have you never read testimonies how God has lead people together? He really has a plan for that part of our lives too.

Yes, and yes. Well said.

I have a hard time trying to give serious advice to you. I've been on this site for roughly a year now and although I haven't been the most active poster, I do read a lot of the topics in every forum. In the last year I have seen NUMEROUS posts from you regarding this one topic. In my opinion there are a lot of things you need to work on before you pursue a relationship with anyone. The first is your relationship with God. I feel that if you devote as much time to working on that as you do worrying about whether you will find a girl, that you would find that He provides in His time. It isn't something you should worry about. And after that, if you feel that you really do have a true relationship with Christ, that you are just simply ignoring the advice that has been given to you in the other 50 threads you have started regarding this subject. AND finally, if you think that you are taking the advice, using it correctly, and that you think you are ready in your life to have a relationship with someone and yet still aren't finding someone, maybe you are meant to be alone. It isn't Gods will that everyone gets married.

And that's why it freaks me out so much. Also it's part of the reason that I have no faith in this area.

Consider this scripture:

(Mark 11:23-24) 23 For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening; he shall have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them.

How are you going to get what your heart desire if you dont have faith in it?

hehehe it didn't post my reply....anyway Happy new year!!!
Hope by 2012, no more threads like this. ^_^
