Yes, I have trouble falling asleep occasionally. I used to take a non-addictive prescription pill for sleep for about six months due to a health issue, and then transitioned to OTC supplements for about a year but I have not used them in a few years. Nowadays, if I don't sleep well one day, I generally sleep very well the following day. I sleep much better during the weekends. I need to have a very dark room to sleep, even a small red/blue light on an electronic is distracting (slight natural light is okay) and white noise. My apartment was near traffic and over time it bothered me. Having normal/high vitamin levels also helps I believe. Iron, Vitamin D, some B supplementals etc. all affect mood and sleep. Living with others helps with as I tend to go to bed around the same time or a bit after; I am more likely to stay up late when alone but have to wake up early for work.

I also use the night light features on my electronics, as well as dim my screen brightness to almost the lowest setting, and I believe that helps a lot. I work, read, and use my laptop on my bed; I don't think that factor affects my sleep too much.

I call it 'Christian fortune-telling' and I have seen it used where people will line up and the speaker will go from person to person supposedly speaking words from God over them

I have also seen the results of some of these 'words/prophecies' end very badly...as an example: a woman I later counselled had been told by one of these people that she should marry so and so. She did and the man was very cruel to her physically, emotionally and spiritually. She left him; she could not take it anymore...it was absolute abuse. Ultimately, she did meet a Christian man and married him (the other was divorced and rightfully so IMO) and was very content and he was very kind to her.

I have a long list of such outcomes and frankly I am perturbed that someone on this site is now handing out words and saying they are from God.

I do not believe this is God. You won't find it in the Bible and people should remember that we have the Holy Spirit in us now and do not need a 'Moses' to speak to us on behalf of God.

That being said, I do believe a person can have insight into another but not as directives from God. This can and does result in people putting faith in other people rather than God

Ok, first off, there was the fact that my roommate and I again sought the truth of the matter in the spirit. Then there was the clarification that the belief issue was with another party and not Stingray72 himself. Then there was the fact that a real step was taken in the spirit to get the issue resolved. Then there was the tempering of possible expectations with timing of physical manifestation.

If all you got from it was "It can take time to see physical results," then maybe you are a big picture person with no interest in the details or steps along the way. For me personally, though, I am a teacher and helping people come to understand the process was on my radar. I also was opposed to unexpressed love, when expression can be helpful to the edification of others. And even if we were essentially just confirming what was already said, confirmation can be needful. However there was a real change from "someday this will happen," to "a real step was taken and get ready because it's coming."

But each time, it was also private. Sometimes the person telling me didn't really know what it meant, just told me what was on his or her heart and hoped it was useful to me, and there was no way I was going to enlighten them because it would have embarrassed the crap out of me. God knows how to get a message to you without airing your dirty laundry in front of everyone.

This thing about setting oneself up as a prophet and making a big show of it, I have seen it before in church and it never has been accurate or profitable. For that matter it has never been accurate or profitable when I have seen it on the forum either.

Actually Jeremiah 23 has a very direct answer to that one. Every alleged prophet's word will be tested by whether it comes true.

Actually, if what you said was true, we would be obligated to take the word of anybody running around claiming he spoke for God. That could be dangerous.

Not to mention confusing. What do we do when two different alleged prophets have prophecies that contradict each other?

That is a world of difference from a person going to a person...even as Agabus went to Paul...and setting up yourself in a forum where no one knows you and calling yourself a prophet and offering to get a message from God for people is just blatant disregard for the order of things according to scripture.

I would state we are saying the same thing. In fact, I have had words for people myself that were 100% accurate....I don't think that makes me a prophet. People get mixed up between a word of knowledge and the gift of prophecy.

Believe me I know how strongly people can feel about this subject but I also could not ignore warning about people doing what the 'prophet' here is aspiring to do. Gifts are supposed to be for the body of Christ and not individuals assuming they can use the gift as they see fit.

uh huh. You disaprove of my post, but a forum is not a place to advertise yourself as a prophet. I noticed you often referring to yourself as a prophet in many of your posts and really no one here can vouch for you. This is a forum and not a place to state you have this gift or that gift.

You assume quite a bit for someone who says they are a prophet in one breath and then in the next you state we should examine everything carefully.

That is contradictory or don't you see that? Further, it seems you and your friend were off in what you 'determined'.
