So I have found peer reviewed articles and studies and so much more showing Homosexuality is a mental illness and other studies showing how those that claim to show that it is not use anecdotal evidence and public opinion.

That being said, I have joined a few facebook groups that include every type of person. When I disagree on countless subjects there is never any ban or major backlash.

Yet, it always seems to come when I post these studies... For instance, someone asked about homosexuality being a choice, I said yes and posted my studies... The debate circled around to transgender suicide at 45%, gay suicide attempt rate at 30%, gay suicide somewhere between 10-20%.
I then equated it to Jews in the Holocaust being at 25% suicide rate, and said that there is no way it should be similar and higher than Jews in the Holocaust...
I then got replies saying that homosexuals are shamed and public scrutinized to the point where suicide is the answer... So I responded with that it still does not compare to the Jews in the Holocaust...
But, I added that Pedophiles have a suicide rate of 20%... And pedophiles are much more vilified than gays or transgenders, so therefore the suicide is likely not from scrutiny but mental illness....
Banned right there and then...

This happened today... Now, what I have noticed is that this trend is increasing with more and more frequency in the groups I join... Intellectual discussion does not take precedence. If it did, there would be a debate with no ban no matter the outcome... Yet, anytime this issue comes up I am labeled a troll and banned. About 5 years ago, you could have conversations with some, not all, but some. Today there is no conversation to be held with anyone.

Has anyone else noticed this trend as well?

I find social media to be a total waste of time. This is the only site that I frequent. I recommend the thread, Conversation About Nothing In Particular. No heated debate there, just a bunch of friendly peeps.

I haven't been in that particular situation myself, but I'm not surprised to hear about it.

When I was a youngster, being gay wasn't something to be proud of. It was frowned upon. The problem today is political correctness. We should NOT have to accept the world view of homosexuality. They expect us all to accept THEIR standards and morals, but how about if they accept my standards and convictions too?

I actually have no problem if someone wants to be gay. My problem is the way and where they push their agenda and how the media plays it up and yes...social media is bad for people. It divides people and is just a place for arguments. I'm on facebook only because I have to be to access my churches page.

You DON'T have to accept their morals. Current laws simply strive to give them a fair shake at life, and sets a certain legal standard for EVERYone, and that is what I think scripture says you should accept, as far as how THEY live. I may be wrong there about scripture, I can't find it right now.

As for the media, they sell newspapers and soap, so who cares what they say. Political correctness is a matter of opinion. God's opinion is a matter of correctness. (not my quote, I heard it somewhere and thought it sounded cool)

I think it's moved past that.

Well, it matters if they're telling us the truth or not.

you can't have discussions with the wackadoodle leftist. liberalism is a mental disorder and when you show facts to them it shows them they have a mental disorder and want it banned.
