Hello, my name is Roger, and I live in CA. I'm still kind of new here but have already posted multiple times in different forums. I consider it is a blessing to have a web site like this one where we can candidly discuss topics of the highest importance, namely the Bible and eternal salvation - there is nothing more important than those.
If I might, I like to briefly set forth my understanding of the Bible and its message:
1) God moved the writers of the Bible to write precisely; what, when, and how he wanted it written
2) It is perfect in its original autograph form. Most translations are reasonably close to the original
3) It was written solely regarding Jesus and the ministry God the Father assigned Him. Although he is not always prominent or easy to find within it, nevertheless, it is about Him. The Bible was not intended as general historical documentation to capture everything said or done by Christ.
4) It is complete within itself: nothing can be added to it
5) It should be understood to be its own cross-reference, dictionary, and glossary of terms
6) It has defined the beginning and ending points of spiritual revelation as a perfect lawbook would and can not continually evolve; otherwise, we could never know if/when we had received it all
7) No further spiritual revelation was possible once the Bible was completed and closed (Revelation 22:18 - 19) and delivered to mankind – God has revealed all that He intended to.
8) God wrote it as one wholly integrated book (Genesis – Revelation)
9) Its verses simultaneously reveal two communication levels: the spiritual and the earthly. Our goal should be to find and understand the spiritual by using the earthly, not as the true, but as a shadow or reflection of the true.
10) God used, directed, and moved historical allegories, metaphors, similes, parables, and symbols of nations, peoples, history, and individuals as primary literary devices to depict His spiritual principles. Many read the Bible, but few find its Gospel.
11) Any gospel that does not have Christ as its foundation and centerpiece are false and must be ignored
12) It is the only book claiming to be a true spiritual authority anointed by God to define and set forth His mercy and grace (alone) for atonement and forgiveness of Sin, but not being based upon any of our works or good deeds
13) There are many things we care about in this life, but nothing is as important as eternal salvation,
14) Jesus Christ alone is Lord, God, and Savior – there is no other way to salvation. All spiritual doctrine in the Bible starts from and ends with those. The rest of the Bible is documentary and informational.
