Is Babylon the United States?

Everyone keeps mentioning the chapter 17 and 18 of revelation but why are we ignoring 98% of the scriptures. Here's my take on who is Babylon.

Consider this: The former prophets all warned of this coming Great Babylon. Let's look at what each one said about it:
Isaiah said:


1. Babylon would be noted for its architecture, buildings and skyline (Isaiah 13:22)

2. Is the lone super power of the world (Isaiah 47:5,8)

3. Is the most respected and envied around the world and yet at the same time is hated by the world. (Isaiah 18:2)

4. Has a unique and remarkable beginning, different from other nations and has been awe-inspiring from it's conception. (Isaiah 18:2)

5. Babylon would the QUEEN AMONG THE NATIONS (Isa 47:5,7)

6. Babylon would be an END TIME GREAT NATION (Rev 17,18; Isa 13:6)

7. Babylon is called a lady, and has the symbol of the Lady (Isa 47:7-9). "LIBERTY" on our money, and sits in the New York Harbor.

8. Babylon is nation "peeled", or timbered, a land of open fields (Isa 18:2).

9. Babylon is land quartered by mighty rivers (Isa 18:2).

10. Babylon is a land that is measured out, and populated throughout (Isa 18:2).

11. Babylon destroys her own land, with pollution and waste (Isa 14:20, 18:2, 7).
12. Babylon is the leading INDUSTRIAL NATION OF THE WORLD

13. Babylon has a huge aviation program (Isa 14:13-14;

14. Babylon is a REPUBLIC or a DEMOCRACY, it is ruled by many counsels (Isa 47:13).

15. Babylon's governmental system breaks down (Isa 47:13).

16. Babylon is bogged down with deliberations and cannot govern properly (Isa 47:13).

17. Babylon's leaders use astrology, seers and mystics for guidance (Isa 47:13; Rev 18:2).

18. Babylon labored in the occult from her very inception (Isa 47:12).

19. Babylon is a nation of religious confusion (Isa 47:12-13).

20. THE KING OF BABYLON is called LUCIFER, the ANTICHRIST (Isa 14:4-6).

21. The King of Babylon will rule from THE GREAT CITY BABYLON (Isa 14:4-6; Rev 17: 18).

22. A world government entity will rise up to rule the world from BABYLON THE CITY

23. This entity will rise up and use the military power of Babylon the nation to RULE THE WORLD (Isa 14:4-6;

24.Babylon is a nation of higher education and learning (Isa47:10, implied throughout).

20. Babylon is a coastal nation and sits upon MANY WATERS (Jer 51:13).

21. Babylon is nation filled with a "mingled" people (Jer 50:37).

22. Babylon is a SINGULAR NATION founded upon OUT OF MANY, ONE (Isa 13, 47, Jer 50, 51, Hab 1).

23. Babylon was born as a CHRISTIAN NATION (Jer 50:12).

24. Babylon turns upon its heritage and destroys it all in the end (Jer 50:11).

51. Is noted for its elegant and extravagant lifestyle (Rev. 18:14).

52. Is noted for being a city/nation of immigrants from all over the world (Rev. 18:15)

There is no other city or nation on earth that could fulfill these requirements other than the United States of America. There are some who hold to the view this passage is referring only to New York City. In fact, it refers to both NYC and the entire nation. The term "city" translated from the Greek means city or nation. In this instance, it refers to a nation led by its chief city, which is New York City. So in some instances it is talking about New York City, and in others the nation itself. And if you're not convinced, go back and read all these prophecies again about the last great nation on earth.

I think it all deppends on your view. I mean people used to think and many still do that the Antichrist and the false prophet and the other events of the end times would come out of Europe. Now, there are a lot of theories that all these events will center around the middle east. Some seem to think that the Antichrist will be this mahdi that the muslims are expecting. Originally Babylon was in Iraq. There are still ruins of Babylon there today. Saddam Hussein had started rebuilding prior to the Gulf invasion. Like all the plans of men it came to nothing. Anyway, If this whole thing DOES revolve around the middle east Babylon could once again be there. Just a theory really. Personally, I do not think that America will be a major player in the future. I do not believe America is even mentioned in the Bible.

Is this the statue of Liberty, which is located at New York?


Jeremiah 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other elohim, that they may provoke me to anger.


Is there any way of identifying this queen of heaven? Looking up Jeremiah 7:18 (quoted above) in a couple of references, we find the following:


1. In the commentary of the Ryrie Study Bible: The queen of heaven. The Assyro-Babylonian goddess Ishtar.


2. In the commentary of the NIV Study Bible: Queen of Heaven. A Babylonian title for Ishtar, an important goddess in the Babylonian pantheon.


3. In Ungers Bible Dictionary it says under the heading "Queen of Heaven" Astarte, an ancient Semitic deity, identical with Babylonian Ishtar (Venus)



Is there any symbol in the world today that represents the idol Ishtar?


Fact: One of the worlds largest idols that has ever been constructed is the Statue of Liberty in the harbor of New York City. According to the following research, the Statue of Liberty is an idol which represents something specific:


The sculptor of the Statue of Liberty was Auguste Bertholdi. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Paris. Before beginning the statue of liberty project, Bertholdi was seeking a commission to construct a giant statue of the goddess "Isis," the Egyptian Queen of Heaven, to overlook the Suez canal. It can be seen here that the whore rides upon the seven headed beast, which represent the seven empires that have existed throughout world history (see Daniel 7 and Rev. 13)


It is interesting to note that ancient Babyon's chief deity "Ishtar" (AKA "Iana") held the very same title in Babylon, "Mother of Harlots".


As Alexander Hislop shows, in his book entitled, “The Two Babylons”, Isis is the Egyptian name for the Babylonian goddess Ishtar, who is also the same as Athena (Greece), Minerva (Egypt and Greece), Astarte (Syria), Cybele (Rome), Ashtoreth (Israel), and Diana (Ephesus).


A site on the internet entitled, Statue of Liberty Facts, makes the following statements:

Rev 17:15 And he saith unto me, "The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues."

It is interesting that the promoters of the Statue of Liberty claim that the seven spikes of her crown represent the seven seas!

There is a book out called Isaiah 9:10 Prophecy (I think that's what its called) and its all about the biblical implications of what happened on 9/11. I usually scoff at stuff like that but I heard the author speak about it in a radio interview and it blew me away. How the book came to be published and written is itself an amazing story.

The site of ancient Babylon the physical nation is what we call Iraq in modern times. However, MYSTERY BABYLON isn't really a geocentric location the way you would think of China or Russia. I used to be very deep into the occult and the religion itself is very alive and active. It originated in the literal Tower of Babel times but it is still practiced today....generally under the guise of "Mystery Schools". The original Tower of Babel was in the form of a ziggurat (which is a pyramid type structure) and the reason you see so many ancient pyramids scattered all around the world is because people kept practicing the idolatry and perverted false religion even after the tongues were confused and the people were scattered everywhere.

Goddess type worship is very common in the MYSTERY BABYLON religion and the Statue of Liberty was actually inspired by the ancient Babylonian Goddess "Ishtar", which is pronounced Easter in some tongues. Pagans sometimes refer to that Idol as the "Goddess of Ten Thousand Names". Worshiping her as divine was going on before the Tower of Babel confusion took place so it's no shocker that she would be known in different cultures by a different name. A couple other names the idol goes by are "Columbia" and "Isis".

I could go into greater detail about it but I'm not sure an in-depth discussion of that religion would be appropriate here.

Definitely, Mystery Babylon isn't a physical location but the actual religious system is extremely active in America. Australia and the UK are places it is thriving as well.

Stephen, the first Christian martyr, fingers the council at Jerusalem as the murderers of the prophets, and they were so angry they killed Stephen, too:

Jesus speaks harsh words to the leaders of Jerusalem, saying they are worse than harlots, and also says that "Jeursalem kills the prophets":

The great harlot is the "great city". The "great city" is Jerusalem.

Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
Revelation, earlier, tells us which city is THE GREAT CITY: it is Jerusalem.

Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

The Lord was crucified in Jerusalem, the great city, which is the great harlot.

Babylon, as a name for Jerusalem, is not unlike the comparison to other cities, such as as Sodom, Egypt, and Gomorrah; "spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt" Rev 11:8. (Isaiah 1:10; Jer. 23:14, Ezek. 16:44-56 all compare Jerusalem to Sodom. (also, Jesus in various NT scriptures, compared various Israelite cities to Sodom and Gomorrah by comparing judgment), Luke 10:12, Mark 6:11, Matthew 11:23-24, Matthew 10:15.)

Israel is described as a harlot in many texts of the Hebrew Scriptures: Isa. 1:21, Ezek 16, 23, Isaiah 57, Jeremiah 2-3 and Hosea 2

Isaiah 47 is a striking parallel passage, with 3 key elements repeated: She calls herself a queen, not a widow, and will see her destruction in one day.

Isaiah 47:7
You said, 'I will continue forever— the eternal queen! ' But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen. 8 "Now then, listen, you wanton creature, lounging in your security and saying to yourself, 'I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.' 9 Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells.

Revelation 18:7

Babylon is a system not a nation. It has been around since its name sake was in power. and has never left. Isreal played the harlot with this system.

It is not the US. the US was not even around then. This belief is outright false!! The world hates the US. It will not cry when she is destroyed, she will have a great party!!
