If she is getting submerged in water wearing a shower cap her hair is going to get wet not to be avoided. lol Baptism into Christ is water baptism because we are baptized into His name. By doing so we identify with his death, burial and resurrection.

This is a question for those who claim that water immersion saves.

Suppose a woman gets immersed, but wears a shower cap so that her hair doesn't get wet.

What then?

Where do ideas like this come from? It truly puzzles me. Anyhoo, the underlying current is about the necessity of baptism for salvation. Water immersion or baptism is necessary but does not do the saving. Once again, it is a part of conditional salvation. Certain conditions must be met...

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water andofthe Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

A direct quote from Christ that unless one is born of water, comes up out of a watery grave, he cannot enter the Kingdom.

Oh and as for the shower cap foolishness?

1Co 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

Israel was BAPTIZED when they went through the Red Sea. Notice this about that baptism...

Exo 14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

They did not have to get wet, they had to be under the surface of the water. As they immerged on the shore on the other side they were in type being raised from the dead.

Hang on, if putting something over your head is not right, then by same logic, wearing anything else will mean you are not getting properly dunked or wet, therefore if that is the case, then shouldn't the person being baptised be naked?

No

The baptism of the Lord's holy spirit will go right through a shower cap .... if you know what I mean

Here is the poison being slipped into the equation.

Salvation is not conditional. Salvation is by grace. Grace is unmerited, undeserved and cannot be earned. By faith we receive Gods grace and then after receiving we walk by faith. Baptism in the Holy Spirit occurs the moment we believe and receive Christ as our Savior. We receive water baptism as step in our service to Christ not as a condition of our salvation. Gods love is without conditions and Gods pity upon us is without conditions.

Gods wrath is without remedy for those who deny Gods grace and mercy. Reject the love God has demonstrated in Christ and die without hope.

Please explain to me why Jesus Christ did not mean what He said in John 3:5. Why is a direct quote from Christ poison?

Church would suddenly become more popular in that case...or maybe not ....;)

Why baptized

-We are reconciled to God by the death of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:10).

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son,
much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

-by his goodness the Father brings us to and grants us repentance (Romans 2:4).

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering;
not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

-After repentance, we are to be baptized. (Acts 2:38).

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

-It is the Spirit that actually begets us as sons of God (Romans 8:9, 14, 16-17).

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.

Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

-the begetting agent that comes from God, the Holy Spirit is the earnest or
down payment, of our salvation (Ephesians 1:14; Romans 8:16).

14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of
the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

-We are baptized into the truth by God’s power (Matthew 3:11; John 1:33).

3I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I,
whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
33And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom
thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

-That Spirit, God’s power, actually dwells in us after baptism (Acts 2:38; 4:8, 31; Ezekiel 36:27).

8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

27And I will put (my spirit) within you, and (cause you to walk) in (my statutes),
and ye shall (keep my judgments, and do them).

- was given to witness to the world.

8 But ye shall (receive power), after that (the Holy Ghost) is come (upon you):
and ye shall be (witnesses) unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria,
and unto the (uttermost part) of the earth.

-teach and brings things to our remembrance through the power of His Spirit (John 14:26).

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name,
he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

-God will give His Spirit to those who ask for right reason.(Luke 11:13).

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

-God reveals His secrets to us through the Holy Spirit (Luke 2:26)

26And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should
not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

-helps us speak his words boldly.

31And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together;
and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

- and in truth his words about things to come.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come,
he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself;

but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will (shew you things to come).

Jesus did not say you must be baptized to be born again. You are dangerously close to someone else in the bible who quotes scripture to pervert truth not to prove truth.

Salvation by grace is not repeat not conditional. Grace is not deserved, earned or merited in any way. Grace is provided by mercy and through love that only God can have. Only God can love a sinner without condition and give that sinner eternal life. The sinner receives by believing not by baptism in water. God alone takes care of the baptism that quickens the soul. That baptism is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. John 20 shows Jesus breathing on the disciples and saying receive ye the Holy Spirit. This is before Pentecost where the disciples are filled with the Holy Spirit enduing them with power to minister the word of God to those in attendance.

We do not await salvation we possess salvation that minute we trust Christ and ask Him to save us from our sins.

The Holy Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are Christ's.

Brother John832 said: "Water immersion or baptism is necessary but does not do the saving."

I like that answer because any Word that comes from Jesus Himself or His Apostles is "sacred" and not to be 'messed with'.

I'm not going to post Scripture that some won't read anyway - but from the time that Jesus Himself was baptized - you can do the Search from the Gospels and Acts on how the two words "Baptized" & "Baptizing" is used and come up believing that His Words on this subject are sacred, as in - No Joke and was His 'command' that the Apostles followed through on His command with new converts that were already believers/saved.

Thanks!

That's a good point. The disciples are nowhere recorded of being water baptized. It was recommended in Acts, but if it is nececcary for salvation, figures it would be an important event and noted in the Bible when the apostles were baptized?

Here are some scriptures that I've gathered. I wont strive or insist - just expose them and pray the reader will understand.

Mark 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Yes, repent AND be baptized... with the Holy ghost. It nowhere said water part of the baptism was required to be saved, water was just the symbolical act to confess the faith. People sometimes depend on rituals. That is fear driven and not in His spirit of perfect love at all.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned...
Notice how it doesnt say "and isnt baptized"... because it is by faith that we get born again.

Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. --- baptism in Jesus' name, water is just the parable... washing away sins is the POINT...

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. ---- again parable explained. immersing into the water, this is also reminiscence of the Flood when God destroyed all the living for wages of sin is death

Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. --- again spiritual meaning explained

That would mean that you can have it both ways. Necessary means that the former is contingent on the latter. Salvation is not contingent upon water baptism. One is saved wholly by grace apart from water baptism. Salvation is by grace through faith not in, around or remotely attached to water baptism.

Believers are water baptized after they become believers. We are not believers because of our water baptism. We were and always will be believers water baptized or not.

We are at liberty to use terms like ought to, recommended to, should do but never must do in reference to water baptism and salvation.

What then?

4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, (II Tim. 3:4-6)
Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. (I Tim. 4:7)

I will only say that you did not read my post correctly or in full and also ask if Jesus 'commanded' His disciples to baptize those that believe unto salvation - did they follow through in the book of Acts?

I have seen since I've been here that, not only do some not read the Scriptures that members post - but they read 'into' what the member is saying.

Time to throw in the towel at that point.
