That's a good point. The disciples are nowhere recorded of being water baptized. It was recommended in Acts, but if it is nececcary for salvation, figures it would be an important event and noted in the Bible when the apostles were baptized?

Here are some scriptures that I've gathered. I wont strive or insist - just expose them and pray the reader will understand.

Mark 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Yes, repent AND be baptized... with the Holy ghost. It nowhere said water part of the baptism was required to be saved, water was just the symbolical act to confess the faith. People sometimes depend on rituals. That is fear driven and not in His spirit of perfect love at all.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned...
Notice how it doesnt say "and isnt baptized"... because it is by faith that we get born again.

Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. --- baptism in Jesus' name, water is just the parable... washing away sins is the POINT...

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. ---- again parable explained. immersing into the water, this is also reminiscence of the Flood when God destroyed all the living for wages of sin is death

Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. --- again spiritual meaning explained

The disciple were baptized and here is your proof.

() inside these is where I explain scripture.

Acts 2: [SUP]36 [/SUP]Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
[SUP]37 [/SUP]Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? (They were asking what to do to be saved!!)
[SUP]38 [/SUP]Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (And is a conjunction joining repentance and baptism together to remit sins!!)
[SUP]39 [/SUP]For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
[SUP]40 [/SUP]And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
[SUP]41 [/SUP]Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. (There on that day of Pentecost were Peter, John and the rest of the disciples and believe me they gladly received his word and this scripture says those that gladly received were baptized!!!)

There is nothing special, powerful, or magical about the water. Let me answer your question with a question... If you buried a dead body wearing a shower cap, clothing, and a coffin, is the person still buried? Yes they are- they are under the level of the ground. There is nothing magical about the dirt that it needs to touch the skin. Baptism is a burial- you bury your old sinful self and are raised a new creature alive with the Holy Spirit. Yes, immersion baptism is effective no matter what the person wears, if they are baptized with sincerity and truth.

We must preface this by pointing out that Biblical saving faith is not merely believing that some fact is so; believing doctrines saves no one.

Here is saving faith:
Commit thy way unto YHWH;
Trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.
And he will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light,
And thy justice as the noonday

The disciple were baptized and here is your proof.

You haven't proven the water baptism of the "disciples" in the sense of those who followed Christ during his earthy ministry as Pentecost is after that. However, I think it is safe to assume that they were all water baptized, as some had been with John the Baptist, & Christ Himself baptized (via the hands of others).

Of course the context of the 3000 is Spirit baptism.

"What shall we do" does not say "What shall we do to be saved." So you fail on that one. Water immersion is not mentioned, but it would be a thing "we shall do," but not a thing to do for salvation. Beware of adding to scripture.

"And" does not establish a causal nexus.
You can say, "Drink poison and brush your teeth, and you shall die." That doesn't prove that brushing teeth kills anyone.

Neither does the preposition eis prove purpose. If you drink a toast unto someone's health, that doesn't prove that the toast causes the health.

But that water baptism does not save, is proven by the repetition over & over that by faith & nothing else, comes salvation.

You seem to ignore the shower cap, which was the topic.

Also, to be precise you need to stop saying "baptize," instead say immerse if you mean water baptism. Be clear that you claim that the Presbyterians are going to Hell for sprinkling then, even if they trust Christ as Savior.

The Evidence is Overwhelming for salvation by faith/believing/trusting Christ alone. This is just a sample:

Acts 15:8

And God, who knoweth the heart, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us; and he made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

Acts 16:31a
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, . . . .
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

Acts 26:18b

that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

Rom 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith.

[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

Rom 3:21-30

But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction;
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

[All them who believer, rules out any other thing essential besides believe.]

for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; 24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God set forth to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God; for the showing, I say, of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]
27 Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith. 28 We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yea, of Gentiles also: 30 if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.

[NO WORKS, NO WATER]
Rom 4:1ff

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not toward God. For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]
4 Now to him who works, the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but as of debt. 5 But to him that works not, but believeth on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned for righteousness.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

6 Even as David also pronounces blessing upon the man, to whom God reckons righteousness apart from works, 7 saying,
Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not reckon sin.

9 Is this blessing then pronounced upon the circumcision, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say, To Abraham his faith was reckoned for righteousness.

[NO WORKS, NO WATER]
10 How then was it reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision: 11 and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision: that he might be the father of all them who believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might be reckoned unto them; 12 and the father of circumcision to them who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham which he had in uncircumcision. 13 For not through the law was the promise to Abraham or to his seed that he should be heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

14 For if they that are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of none effect: 15 for the law works wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there transgression. 16 For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace; to the end that the promise may be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

17 (as it is written, A father of many nations have I made thee) before him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not, as though they were. 18 Who in hope believed against hope, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And without being weakened in faith he considered his own body now as good as dead (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; 20 yet, looking unto the promise of God, he wavered not through unbelief, but waxed strong through faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 Wherefore also it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

Rom 5:1-2
Being therefore justified by faith, let us have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand; and let us boast in hope of the glory of God.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

Rom 9:30:
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who followed not after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith: but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling; even as it is written,
Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence:
And he who believes on him shall not be put to shame.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

Rom 10:4ff

For Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness to everyone who believes.
[NO WORKS, NO WATER]

[EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES rules out anything essential added to faith.]

For Moses writeth that the man that doeth the righteousness which is of the law shall live thereby. But the righteousness which is of faith says thus, Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down:) or, Who shall descend into the abyss? (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.

Please explain to me why Jesus Christ did not mean what He said in John 3:5. Why is a direct quote from Christ poison?

John 3:5 mentions neither baptism nor shower caps. And if it did refer to immersion in water (water baptism), according to the objectors to the Thief on the Cross argument, you would not be able to use John 3:5 anyway. For if the erroneous idea be adopted that the way of salvation changed at the cross or on Pentecost to make the Thief on the Cross irrelevant, that would also rule out the teaching Christ gave to Nicodemus, much earlier than the cross.

John 3 says nada about baptism. It does say the whosoever believes. And "whosoever" rules out adding any that to believing.

Shower caps or none.

WHY ARE THE WATER GUYS IGNORING THE SHOWER CAPS?

The thread is supposed to address the what if a woman wears a shower cap. You reckon someone will say all she needs to do is bear a child & get saved that way?

The baptism of the Holy Ghost is described by John the Baptist as "He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and Fire." The baptism of the Holy Ghost and Fire took place at the beginning of Acts 2:1-4 and the baptism of the Holy Ghost is ALWAYS!!!! followed by speaking in tongues. So the baptism which peter is speaking of here is water baptism not the Holy Ghost baptism.

"The Jews and Israelites now hold out the right hand of brotherhood to those whom before they reviled (ver. 13). What shall we do? (Act 2:37) It is a sign of the working of God's Spirit in the heart, renewing it to repentance, when men feel the need of changing their old course of thought and action, and inquire anxiously what they must do to inherit eternal life."
[SUP]
Act2:
38
[/SUP]Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew Henry Commentary

"From the first delivery of that Divine message, it appeared that there was Divine power going with it; and thousands were brought to the obedience of faith. But neither Peter's words, nor the miracle they witnessed, could have produced such effects, had not the Holy Spirit been given. Sinners, when their eyes are opened, cannot but be pricked to the heart for sin, cannot but feel an inward uneasiness. The apostle exhorted them to repent of their sins, and openly to avow their belief in Jesus as the Messiah, by being baptized in his name."

The baptism of the Holy Ghost is described by John the Baptist as "He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and Fire." [but no tongues are mentioned there] The baptism of the Holy Ghost and Fire took place at the beginning of Acts 2:1-4 and the baptism of the Holy Ghost is ALWAYS!!!! followed by speaking in tongues.

Let's see the proof of that one.
Quote all the passages where there is Spirit baptism.
Quote a verse that says that Spirit baptism is always followed by tongues.

You can start with 1 Cor 12:13 if you want. Where does 1 Cor 12:13 say that all Christians who are all baptized into the Body of Christ miraculously speak with a language they never studied? Now 1 Cor indicates that all Christians do not speak with a "language." At the same time it teaches that all Christians are Spirit baptized.

Jesus did not say you must be baptized to be born again. You are dangerously close to someone else in the bible who quotes scripture to pervert truth not to prove truth.

Salvation by grace is not repeat not conditional. Grace is not deserved, earned or merited in any way. Grace is provided by mercy and through love that only God can have. Only God can love a sinner without condition and give that sinner eternal life. The sinner receives by believing not by baptism in water. God alone takes care of the baptism that quickens the soul. That baptism is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. John 20 shows Jesus breathing on the disciples and saying receive ye the Holy Spirit. This is before Pentecost where the disciples are filled with the Holy Spirit enduing them with power to minister the word of God to those in attendance.

We do not await salvation we possess salvation that minute we trust Christ and ask Him to save us from our sins.

The Holy Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are Christ's.

Grace is not deserved, earned or merited in any way. Grace is provided by mercy and accessed through faith....
Romans 5:1-3King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]2 [/SUP]By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

God saves a sinner from sin and gives him eternal life...

Acts 26:15-18King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
[SUP]18 [/SUP]To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

One who believes the word repents and is baptised for the remission of sins...
[SUP]37 [/SUP]Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

[SUP]38 [/SUP]Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Still holding on to the idea that the thief on the cross went to heaven that very day? Haven't done much study on that subject, eh?

What you mean he spent 1 billion years in purgatory or whatever because no priests prayed for him when he was dead.
