Actually, I was thinking roughly the same thing about how many people were calling homosexuals "gay." Oh, come on!

Let's just say that they don't want to be gay... They've been praying for years about it alone and with others asking God to change them. So they certainly did NOT choose it So because they want to change, but can't (because this stuff is 90%of the time determined with birth), ask God to help them, live a good christian life and resist the temptation they aren't/can't be Christian? That's something that doesn't sound right...

You are talking about temptation. You are not the only person whos being tempted, everyone you see on this forum is dealing with these things as well. Not the exact same urges, but they do deal with urges of sexual immorality as well in their own way.

Jesus was tempted in the desert, but He said no and obeyed the word of God. We are to be like Him. Is it a sin that we are being urged and pushed to do what we know we shouldnt? No : p God is allowing these things to happen as a test to see who will come to Him and who will do what they please. It is a sin to give into these urges and follow them, though. And you and I have both given into them at some point, in some way. That is why He gave Himself on the cross for our sins.

I can promise you that it is entirely possible to live a happy life without giving into these urges : p You are not alone in this struggle, there are many Christians out there who deal with this. We do not choose to be urged towards something we know is wrong, but we DO make the choice to follow it. And that is where the word of God tells us we are held accountable for it.

Temptation can be tough at times, for all of us. But we do have the power to say no and keep our hearts on God. I feel like, though occasionally stressful at times, I live a happy life without acting out on these urges : p And I can tell you that if you are willing to change your heart from living for personal fulfillment to living to do whats right, you can feel at peace too.

I absolutely understood the offensive slang term yes. But as Christians all sin being equal it is my understanding that we should address the issues and not resort to offensive name calling.

Dont take up the earthly teaching of being gay meaning you deal with same sex attraction, the people here are obviously talking about practicing homosexuality. There is no verse in the bible that condemns us for dealing with temptation.

I think I should steer it back a bit... The point made in the OP was that they choose to live a celibate life because they think it's a sin to be with someone of the same sex... They are repenting when they've wrong thoughts (prayed with them multiple times about it), so why is this something that is condemning them to hell (according to some of you), while other more common things in Christianity aren't? So to be very clear they are NOT acting on desires they have because they know that's against Gods will...

If anyone could post a scripture verse(s) where is stated that that is wrong: be my guest. But I've never encountered it so far. Yes I know about texts like: "When a man lies with another man he should be stoned" and stuff like that, but none that actually describes being gay as sinful.....

Your problem is your taking up earthly teachings of the bible, and not following whats in the bible : p

The world wants you to believe that just being urged will condemn you, in order to convince you that God is a hateful bigot or whatever nonsense : p That is no where in the bible at all. What is a sin is giving into these sexual urges.

If we can all agree that someone who deals with pedophilia can resist the urge and say no, and expect them to practice self restraint, why is it such a horrible thing for those who deal with homosexuality? Urges do not force us to act against our will. They can be stressful, definitely. But in the end, it is we who make our choices and act out on our own.

Do not let the world believe that God hates people who deal with temptation, that is complete nonsense, and even deceitful : p What He hates is when we do what we know is wrong, and defy Him for our own sake. It is 100% possible for those of us who deal with this to say no.

I tend to avoid these discussions because I don't really have any thing to offer. I have gay friends, I don't see them a lot but I've been a person they've come to when they just couldn't understand why they couldn't be like everyone else. A man who was attracted to women or vice versa. I was young when a friend of mine told his Dad and his Father beat him up pretty badly.

I had another friend who's entire family turned their backs on him. He was, confused and scared and sad. These people would come talk to my Mom because she wasn't telling them they were evil and unworthy. Our house was a safe place. I try to follow my Mom's example, who buy the way does not agree with gay marriage, but feels as do I, people can't just shut off their feelings. If someone told me to stop being attracted to men I couldn't. I'm not saying that God makes babies gay, but there's got to be something in there. I look at these poor folks who are born with both a penis and vagina. What does that person do? I mean I guess if you're lucky you're attracted to one sex and feel like a boy or a girl.

I guess what I'm saying is, how does anyone who's never experienced strong attraction and feelings towards the same gender understand how someone like that feels?

Please don't bash me or argue, I'm not posting for that. I'm not saying anyone is wrong and I'm right, this is just another point of view.

I think theres a clear difference between someone who is guilty of an abomination but redeemed and someone who continues in the sin and refuses to repent.

Well... I think the title is pretty clear Just to clarify what I mean with that question: I'm talking about being gay, not about being in a relation with other man (or woman for the ladies here ). Because I know people who are gay and Christian but who choose to not start a relationship with someone from the same sex because they believe what the bible says about it. Can answer it for me please?

It takes a change of heart, which takes willingness to give up something you find pleasing. Its sorta like dealing with the poor. You know someone who doesnt even have food to eat for the day, and you have some possesion that you dont need but really like having. You know you could sell it and give them the money from it for food. How many people actually do this? Very little, because they want their things. It takes a serious change of heart, to take it away from living for what is pleasing to you to living to do the right thing.

And for feelings, homosexuality is not really all about love and feelings. It is a sexual preference, it is literally about sex. I love my best friend, he is closer to me than anyone and I truly feel Id give anything for him if he needed it.

I do not want to participate in sexual relations with him, however : p I love him with all my heart despite not being involved in physical relations with him.

I wasn't trying to be offensive. But a homosexual is what a gay person is. Just as you and I are heterosexuals.

Also, I was addressing the issue of being gay. I still stand by my view that a practicing, unrepentant gay person CANNOT also be a practicing christian. If they repent of being gay, then yes. If not, then in no way are they a christian.

I think we all struggle with something. Change of hearts can be tough, but not impossible.

Define "being" gay. If you identify as an abomination but resist temptation, is that still damnable?
