Not long ago I was watching a news clip concerning a different kind of midnight rush. Long story short, it was concerning people who are struggling to put food on the table, in some cases they had little or no food, they are 100 million strong that are on the food stamp program which receive Gov. assistance each month.
Our Nation is going through one of the worst droughts in our history, just the State of Texas alone has lost more than 5 Billion in crops and livestock, little or no water for the crops and not enough food to feed the cattle, and the price of meat is on the rise.
The mid-West had lost millions of acres of various crops through flooding that resulted in the melting snows in the spring, mixed in with excessive rain.
Charity institutions that run food pantrys are struggling to provide for their communities, chiefly because the people who donated are now in need of a donation themselves.
I never seen such civil unrest among those who advocate and support the occupy movement, and many, many people who are apart of this movement have been un-employed for more than a year.
So I wondered if this is indeed the heavy hand of God, and so I turn to the Bible for answers, and this is what I found.
1. Haggai 1:11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands. KJV
2. Amos 4:7 7 I also withheld the rain from you while there were still three months until harvest. I sent rain on one city but no rain on another. One field received rain while a field with no rain withered.
3. Deut. 28:22 The LORD will strike you with disease, fever, and inflammation; heat waves, drought, scorching winds, and ruined crops. They will pursue you until you die. Gods Word Translation 1995
4. Job 12:15 If he holds back the waters, there is drought; if he lets them loose, they devastate the land. NIV 1985
5. Deut. 11:17 And then the LORD'S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
6. Micah 7:13 Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings. KJV
7. Jerimiah 14:4 Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads. KJV
God judges the Nations for we read in Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
We as a people will face a point in time, that we as a Nation are judged of God, prosperity messages from false teachers will lead many astray and iniquity shall abound more and more as the day of the Lord approaches.
As I see it, the people of this Nation ignore the justice of God, and do not consider that there is a God in heaven that changes not, also that it is the Almighty that sends blasting and mildew, extreme heat and cold, flooding rains and droughts, famine and sickness and all manner of affliction. Why? To draw people to a place of repentance, remember that God gave men space to repent, but they repented not.
