I don't know it's just so incredibly saddening to think about the FOREVER aspect. Forever is forever, not ten, a hundred, or a thousand years. How can anyone be happy when so many are going to be in darkness forever. I can never be happy knowing that.
can you be happy knowing the state the world is in today with so many people lost and deceived?
I can't say I have all the answers but I have found that God gives us peace and understanding not as the world gives but as only He can. Seek from HIM wisdom. He has a plan and a reason for every word in the Bible.
I have found my life is a series of progressive revelations of His truth.
People can talk and chatter and pretend to know God's will concerning Hell. they can speculate on who will go there and claim to KNOW, but in truth they are sinning because God tells us to NOT judge people before their time. Because God is working in this world to make it NEW to make US NEW creations.
Revelation 21
7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things,[d] and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving,[e] abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
I used to think as you did in high school actually. My family were not Christian. I was the first to accept Jesus and I thought "why would I want to go to Heaven if all my family is in Hell? I'd rather be with them."
I read the Bible, I spoke with God or more accurately yelled AT God. I was pretty angry and mad about a lot of things. Personal things I'll tell you privately later, but I've found that walking in the Spirit of God and learning His ways and His wisdom has given me joy and peace that I did not know when I tried to do it alone.
I don't know often times I don't feel like I have the words to say. I had dinner tonight with an old high school friend and she asked me how my husband changed me because we were remarking on how our friends changed becoming calmer, more spontaneous, etc upon marriage. I thought about it and I think I become more confident that my words might be worth speaking, less shy and afraid or concerned with if people liked me or not. I became more concerned if I pleased God and if I pleased my husband and cared for my family.
I subsistute teach ever so often and sometimes the kids can be really mean, but I remind myself that its not really me they are yelling at or angry with but something else triggered the reaction and sometimes if I'm patient I learn what it was and they seem to calm down.
I know I'm babbling, but everyone else can skip to the next post if they like. I know you don't mind me babbling to you on your thread. lol.
the point I want to make is we don't know how our actions and words affect other people. sometimes I feel like a fool but it gives others the opportunity to help me as you have done in the past by your kindness and compassion.
Sometimes we are sad, and heartbroken especially when we think about the troubles and the hurt people suffer daily. the abused children, those who die daily from lack of food, medicine, love. those who have never awaken spiritually but seek to fill the emptiness from lack of a relationship with God with other things like money, power, etc.
It makes me feel sad at times. So I read my Bible and take comfort in God's promises to heal those who are wounded and see that Justice is done to those who have been abused and oppressed.
We get hurt alot in life, but we have a choice: do we harden our hearts and stop caring for others?
Or do we allow our brokenness to be healed by God and our compassion for others to become actions and good works that aid them and show them God's love through our words, thoughts and deeds towards. for and with them.
If you don't want to see someone in Hell, pray for them and ask God to give them godly sorrow that leads to repentance and acceptance of His grace and mercy so that they might be healed and LIVE.
for God tells us to pray.
James 5:16
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
