I do agree that we should have clearer rules on some points (ie some forums won't allow discussing homosexuality at all, others allow it but won't accept promoting it, yet others allow it only in given subforums etc etc)
and: Maybe CC needs a statement of faith... making sure it covers the typical argument options:
ie: Do "we" believe in the trinity? Do we believe in salvation by faith alone?

This being moderate stuff itches. I feel like someone put too much starch in my clothes. -- not a suggestion though.
When I was a kid and Mom decided it was time for a family photo, it took the longest time to make sure the camera would work and to keep us all still AND smiling. (And one of us would always try to get the two fingers up behind someone else's head without getting caught.) When she was busy setting up the camera, we'd do stuff like monkey-antics, or I'd throw my lovely-frilly dress over my head, or we'd wiggle every limb all at once just to relax before sitting still and posing. (We tended to make each other laugh, so at least the smiles were real when the photo was finally shot. lol)
This reminds me of that. Alas. I can find no emojis of a little girl throwing her frilly dress over her head in unladylike freedom.

As is obvious from my profile I have been on CC for close to five and a half years. My first six months I was just a regular member like everyone else, for a year after that I served as a Moderator, and then up until about nine months ago I served as one of the Administrators. Since then, although I have no longer have an official title, I still help with a lot of the behind the scenes work and still have the ability/authority to remove users as necessary.
As for the "polarizing" moderators, it's kind of difficult to speak to specifics without knowing which moderator the OP is singling out (and in reality that should not be done publicly anyway) but even at that all Moderators are given guidelines that they operate within. Just because some persons who are now Moderators happen to be more vocal about specific doctrinal issues doesn't change the guidelines that they operate under. Even if a Mod decided to go rogue and arbitrarily ban someone there is still accountability within the system. Reasons for bans have to be documented and bans are subject to being overturned is someone overstepped their bounds.

thank you Once fallen for speaking on this . Rule #6 states that the mods are not to be challenged that being said there are many post by mods who have said repeatedly " you do not have to agree with mods posistion on a topic or doctrinal teaching and that OK
. I do not know of anyone being banned for disagreeing with a mod however , I can show you many post of those who are here that have said rude , insulting things to those who have not agreed with them. I guess the mod addressing the vast amounts of complaints are now starting to take it's toll. I am glad for one to see this thread because the only ones who have an issue with it... have a histroy of insults and attacks of others and they have yet to be banned. I guess the CC mods are long suffering.
I don't think people should be banned because they believe differently than someone else.

No the mods are not power hungry people and they are reasonable and solid minded ones as well, one can debate with them without fear of being banned but it's how you debate that makes it if you get banned or not. It's like I have said in the bdf for a very long time even heated debates have value as one can still learn and grow in Christ even from those but when it becomes hostile and our emotions take control and we begin to respond in a harsh and unkind manner that is when that debate has lost it's value and turns into senseless arguing.
and also just as I have said in the bdf many times if we cannot debate in a calm mature and Christ like manner then we shouldn't be debating and I am sure the mods agree with this as well. It's not just random people that are picked to be mods I am sure mods are chosen from a group of people they know they can trust in a seat of authority

I think you know me well enough to know I'm giving it my all not to be offensive. And, yeah, I'm not naming names because that isn't something that's supposed to be aired on here. That and this is a suggestion board, not a demand board.
Something that could be aired on here though is what are those guidelines? Can regular members see the list of those?
One of two things is happening, right now. Either I'm misreading a whole lot of stuff, (and I do give I do misread some stuff, but I'm not this bad at reading) or those guidelines are more relaxed for mods than even the guidelines for the normal member.
As mentioned earlier, I think it's a good idea to have mods. It has gotten out of hand, so really good idea. My suggestion has been, and still is, on how modding could operate better.
I could (and really really don't want) be a mod if able to get out of street clothes into the uniform. This may be hard to believe but most of my working life I was customer service of one type or another and my bosses trusted me to represent the company properly. I would not/do not say anything against the company to customers even when they're telling me what's wrong with the company and I already knew it. I would never agree with them, nor would I get angry along with them. My goal always was to keep the customer happy as a reflection of who the company was. And I know I did a good job because my bosses would come to me surprised to hear from a typically belligerent customer because they went out of their way to call him/her to tell how much I helped them and how they changed their mind about the company because I did.
And then I'd go home and beat up a pillow because I absolutely knew everything that customer said was right, but my job was to help them, not bad mouth the company.
So, again I say mods are a wonderful idea. I'd like to see more of them. BUT if the mods are showing me they do beat up customers too -- CC really needs to have the uniform, because I am seeing a poor reflection of what I thought CC, the business, was about.
And, that is no reflection on you, Oncefallen, since I just thought you got another job but still hang out on CC for fun. I treated you like a normal member for months just not getting you were still somehow connected behind the surface. (Meh. I see no reason to change how I treat you, since you seem like the same person in uniform as out of uniform. lol)
They need more forum mods, and not so many chat room mods. Some of the newer mods don't even know what powers they have, OR how to use them. Every time I ask a mod, "do you have thread editing and banning powers", they respond with "I don't know".. Robo should tell the newer mods what their specific powers are AND how to use them so that when a situation arises and they're the only mod online, THEY can take care of it instead of waiting for a forum mod to come on..

I did not reply With Quote because I do not want anyone to think it is specifically you I am speaking about. SO if this doesn't apply to you then please just let it go. We as Mods get many many complaints daily from you and many of you here and you know who you are bring your concerns and we are trying to address them, deal with them, and respond to them with much grace and patiences. Some have built strawmen in the mind that is some way they maybe Banned for a disagreement , or argument concerning a topic, doctrine , or bible position. let me say it again NO you will not. If some one bring a teaching that is unbiblical, error, or false it will take some time to work out the persona motives. So just because you think they should be banned as soon as they post or say something you believe to be an error, false , or wrong doesn't mean it will happen. SOrry the whole place would be empty.
The concerns and issues that have and will be addressed are:
insults
name calling
labeling those who you do not agree wit or those who do not agree with you on topics
displaying information about people who may have told you something about them in apm and post it on a thread or they posted it on another thread and you bring up in anew thread. For what reASON WHY WOULD ONE DO THAT?
There are those who continue attack then try to use mods to get people banned. and when it does't happen they speak that CC is in some way supporting false teaching , heresies, and unbiblical doctrine.
All we are doing is using respect to you and common sense . NO I am not going to tell you about another persons leaving it is private surely you understand we in CC cannot tell you anything about another member other than what is the gen norm. " we were good friends . I love the brother or sister " Great ! get the info from them. Or speak to Admin. So many of you here are very good at making your voices heard and I can tell you I agree with a lot of you and disagree wit some too and guess what it's ok if you don'r agree with me I could be wrong .
So don't take it personal if you are spoken to or even given an infraction Those who have left as of late many of them did so at their request. And were not banned. IF they left many of them do come back. God bless you all.
