There is enough sin in all our pasts to feel bad enough about without adding to it needlessly, if you use the internet you must resign yourself to the fact you will never be able to avoid 100% of the negative material, no ad-blocker can ofer a stone wall gaurantee you won't see some porn, occasionally something will get around it.

Many blockers work on the basis of identifying key words to prevent porn being displayed, so people who create these adverts can subvert the software if they choose to do so.

The test when this kind of thing happens is to turn away from it, there will always be temptation, if looking at something momentarily then walking away counts as sin then I don't think any of us can be saved, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, although if it does bother you test another blocker that might be more effective.

I screwed up after 11 weeks... One the bright side it wasn't technically porn. It was just unclothed female refence pics for doing art, and yes I actually do art stuff for me to need those kind of pics. Anyway, please keep praying for me guys. I can't wait till I kick this habit...

It would depend what you thought about when you saw them. I would find it hard to believe that you didn't think anything sexual, and just looked away. I am still praying for you. It is possible with God.

Actually, sometimes it is possible for do it. I just have to be in a major working for me to not think anything of the pics I'm working with. On the bright side, I am only failing because I'm being harder on my self.

BTW, everything is possible with God.

I'm glad to hear that you are hard on yourself, because it is sad to say that most christians now a days are WAY to relaxed around sin, and just say whatever about it. Sin is a BIG deal. So, I think it is great that you are hard on yourself. As long as you recognize that you are still forgiven.

thanks, and don't worry I do recongnize that God has forgiven me. I'm just glad God is so ready to forgive people when we ask for it...

Though I do gotta admit that most of the reason that I want to get rid of porn is for my future wife, who ever she is...
 
Don't give up, DHZ. Keep fighting... and I promise you, whoeverthat woman may be in the future for you, she is going to appreciate that you've allowed God to work with you so much.

Don't worry, I'm nowhere close to giving up on this. I just hope that I'll get a girl that can accpet the fact that I've been fighting. Or even better, a girl that's fought with this in the past/fighting it now.

I honestly don't think getting a girl that has fought with this would be something to look forward too, that could be some pretty heavy temptation. I honestly think at this point getting over this habit should be the forethought as well, and not your future wife.
 
it depends on the individual, what point they are at in their development, sometimes watching movies with sexual content can be a learning experience and give freedom to experience sex as something good and godly, but it can also be a harmful act
 
I don't buy that this bahavior is just "how men are." Pornography is a perverted and evil thing. If a man or woman have a desire to look at it, I say don't see them anymore. If it was something that they had done before they were saved or living a sinful lifestyle, but have stopped and no longer find interest in such things that is different...but it's not an addiction. No way.

Why is it that so many people apply the title "addiction" to so many things? Is it just another excuse to continue in sin?
 
There, I got rid of the refence pics off my main computer so I have to go way out of my way to get them. But I'll still have them for when I need them.
 
when you need them? I don't get why you keep any kind of temptations around, GET RID OF THEM!

pornography (actually more commonly the lust and "release" that comes with masturbation with pornography) can be psychologically and physically habit-forming...the psychological hold may come in the form of a dependence upon pornography in order to become aroused or to orgasm...physiological holds would come in the form of the endorphins released into the brain after particularly arousing orgasm, whether in sex or masturbation....so from the definition of addiction, pornography can become an addiction...

That's par for the course, not a failure, anytime you try and go 'cold turkey' you will most likely slip at some point, to succeed in breaking an addiction is not never being tempted it's continuing to turn away and resist once again after having a slip, if you manage that then it is a positive not a negative.

But you do need to understand that getting rid of temptations around you is a mistake, get rid of the explicit material that is the foundation of your addiction, that is essential, but to get rid of non-erotic artistic reference pictures is not neccesary, you need to keep them to enusre you are living in a realistic environment, life is not a bubble and in the wider world you can't just 'delete' temptation and if you do so you will not be conquring your problem you will just be hiding from it, and then when you find yourself in a situation where you cannot hide you will find yourself struggling once again.

There will always be temptation somewhere, you need to learn to survive in it's midst while being true to yourself and your values, so keep the images and next time you need to look at them for your work try and resist your thoughts and after time you will succeed.

You need to recognise that as a human male you will never be beyond lustful thoughts, that's why you keep praying and keep repenting, having the thought is sometimes unavoidable, giving into it is what makes you good or bad, don't hide from your problem, confront it.
