Charity, love in action, is greater than faith.

And faith works by love.

Love works no ill towards their neighbor therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Love thy neighbor as you would yourself.

If you would not harm your neighbor why would you harm yourself.

If you harm yourself how do you love yourself.

If you harm yourself thinking not too much of yourself why would you think you have salvation.

It would seem like people that harm themselves do not believe, or do not believe they can have salvation, or do not forgive themselves.

I have known a couple of people who have self harmed in the past . Thankfully they have both stopped now and I know that they both left themselves with some severe scarring . It seems to me to b a deeply distressing response to some very serious trauma and I don't really feel that it is my place to judge them .

There's so many who self harm and it's crazy because are body's are the temple of the holy Spirit.
It is an expression of brokenness that results from sin. It is a sin because it is a rejection of Jesus as the object of our hope and trust.

That said, I also suspect the Father has a very tender heart towards those who engage in self-harm, because it is usually the result of trauma caused by the sin of others.

Causes of self harm

🙏There are many reasons for non-suicidal self harm.

There's a school of thought that claims its cause is sin and rejection of Jesus. But,that makes no sense if one first believes God is merciful.

It is also wrong because that idea casts blame on the victim. As if it is a wilful disobedience.

Dispense with that nonsense and look to the clinical causes in the patient.

Yes,our body is God's temple. However, sometimes the mind works in ways that makes understanding this difficult if not impossible.

Ask for help. There is no shame in this. 🙏

Self harm is generally an activity pursued to give one a feeling of control in an environment in which one feels they have no control. This is often more common in the teen years and can include cutting, eating disorders, and even drug and alcohol abuse.

Such actions are driven by a desire to feel good or at least feel better. However, this often becomes a neglect of actions that might be taken to improve external circumstances. In a way it can be a point of divergence such that a neglected environment can worsen and avoidance activities can intensify even to addictive proportions.
