Is there a way to keep your friends from seeing your replies to posts?

It feels a little like this: Matthew 6, even though this isn't what I'm trying to do.
 
The only way to keep someone that is logged in from seeing your posts is to put them on your Ignore list, however if someone were to quote your post they would see it in the post quoting it. Likewise, if someone on your ignore list were to be viewing the forums without logging in, they would still see your posts.

So, in the long run, it is impossible to keep anyone from viewing your posts if they really wanted to see them.

I thought the ignore list only prevented you from seeing the posts of those on your ignore list...???

It also prevents those on your ignore list from seeing your posts?

I have never actually used it, but this is new to me. Is this right? It works both ways?

That raises another good question -- is there a way to block PMs only from another member without affecting posts?

EDIT: I am referring to cc-mail PMs, not live-chat PMs.

Nope. Not from specific members. You can turn off PMs i believe, from everyone. Or you can set it so only Mods and people on your contact list can PM you.
 
Why would you post it if you don't want anyone to see it? lt's the worldwide web.

Because there are times when one person will follow another persons posts with the intent to disagree with them at every turn. If you can block them from seeing your posts, then they can't argue them.
