My son shows me this video of a floating city that was apparently seen in China. Is this true and if it is, how is it possible? And I read that in some village in Africa some years back same thing had happened.

In general: Don't trust stuff you see online. We live in a world of digital trickery and newsagents earning money on big (and fake) stories

it is very odd that's for sure, it's no mirage as the city is very detailed and clear assuming this is an actual video and not a fake then I would say something very strange is happening. If it is a hologram then it would require quite a lot of power to make it but more importantly what is the purpose of such a thing? I can't see how doing this would benefit anyone other than to get ppl into a hype of conspiracy which in the end helps no one.

The only city I want to see floating in the air is New Jerusalem as it descends to the new earth!

I'm pretty sure I could make the same image in under 10 minutes with Photoshop.

That means if I put my mind to it, I could crank out 48 floating cities in just ONE 8 HOUR DAY.
Wooo!

Lets' not get too excited about stuff any 10-year-old can do in his bedroom.

I heard about this I while ago, apparently it is a real phenomenon and it is a mirage. There was a scientific explanation for it, something about reflection but I can't quite remember.

This 'mirage' may not be as weird or dark as we would quickly assume. There may be a natural explanation for it. I recall a story of pilots on the Canadian prairies (decades ago) being able to see the images of a city, though they were many miles too far to see it naturally. The detail was amazing, complete with traffic moving on the roads. Some who saw it recognized it as a real city, though I heard the story so long ago I don't recall the rest of the details.

The explanation was some sort of atmospheric lensing which is extremely rare and only takes place within a narrow range of temperature, pressure, humidity and other factors. So, the recent events might not be drugs, demons, or technology.

Here's a link to actual youtube video.

A mirage would have to be the oultline of a normal modern city, with the same style of architecture as the nearest local city, and this is just some weird looking mideival castle...
so it can't be a mirage.

It just looks like really bad photoshop.

It can't be a mirage, because it's not the outline of a "real" and "modern" city.

That's not the one that I saw, that one looks like the time-space continuum was ripped and its a mirage of a city from the future.

Well, this is the only one I found that's supposed to be in China...
so I assumed it's what the OP was talking about.

Please post links to whatever you've got.

In other news.....

This cute doggie drives better than most people in Hays County, Texas.

It was a fata morgana mirage.... it is caused by warmer air being on top of colder air in the atmosphere.....that causes light to bend and distort distant things....or make them appear to be floating....They used to be considered floating castles made by witchcraft before a rational explanation came about......

Even if you think Morgana is a mirage...

it's never polite to call her fat.

No mirage creating by nature is ever that clear and visible

1. It's not the best idea for us to take such a definite stance on things without checking the facts.

2. There is plenty of evidence, that anyone can find in 5 minutes, of VERY clear mirages.

3. The other day I seemed to quickly find 3 kinds of "ghost cities" posted on youtube.

A. REALLY STUPID HOAX:
We find video taken of mist swirling around a normal city, and someone just posts it on youtube and CLAIMS the city was floating, lol.

B. MIRAGE:
We find video of an image in the sky that is identical to a nearby city; the image sits very low on the horizon, on a clear hot day, and it disappears after a few minutes. These are the classic indicators of a mirage.

C. A SLIGHTLY BETTER HOAX:
We find a "video" image that seems to just be a STILL PHOTO being moved around in a video editing program so it appears to have motion. It looks like something that could easily have be done in photoshop. According to the info on the video, LOTS OF PEOPLE SUPPOSEDLY SAW IT IN THE SKY... but there is no documentation of anyone actually seeing anything.

With Photoshop and After Effects, you can do just about anything in only a couple minutes.
