Hey Everyone,

I've recently had the privilege of enjoying a good friend's baking talents, currently in the form of home-ground, homemade, multi-grain bread. And so, I've been enjoying a piece of toast with every meal for the last few days.

Last night, I accidently left my poor beloved appetizer in the toaster just a LITTLE too long -- and man, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much, because to me, it just tasted like burnt cardboard.

But the thing is, if toast readiness was graded in a similar fashion as a steak, I pretty much like my toast very "rare."

And so, let the latest controversial discussion topic begin!!! (I know this has been discussed in the past, but it's always fun to see what the current crop of CC'ers have to say.)

* Is toast only for breakfast? At what other meals do you eat toast?

* What are your favorite ways to have toast? What things do you like to put on it -- dairy butter, peanut butter, jam, applesauce, mayonnaise? (Clearly, whoever answers mayo is a sinner and must repent, unless it's in a sandwich. And even then...)

* What kinds of sandwiches do you enjoy toasted? Is a panini really just regular toast that's trying to pass as snobby high-society food?

* And, most crucial of all, how do YOU like your toast?!

(Beware: all answers you type here are public and you may be judged because of them!)

I personally like my toast around the, "This Is Just Hot Bread" stage. with a good helping of salted butter. The toast I accidently toasted too long was about the shade of, "This is Toast, But It's Furious at You" -- and yes, it must have been mad at me, because it tasted like it had been set on fire.

How about you -- how do you like your toast, and what is your opinion of toast being toasted at any other level?!
I',m Pretty sure its all bread. but only options 3 and 4 are toast.

Back in the dark ages of the 60's we did not have a pop-up toatster. We had a counter top oven where the bread lay flat. 5 thin pats of butter topped with premixed brown sugar and cinnamon. Chocolate milk on the side.
