Okay...I asked this question in the ladies forum and no one had any answers, so I'm going to be brave and post it here (so be nice haha).

I am frequently asked out by guys who are 10 or more years younger (which seems very odd to me), but not by guys my own age. Why is that? Just curious... Seems very strange to me.

Go out with one of them and find out! :D

haha all kidding aside,

I suspect that you might be the type of woman younger guys find attractive: unabashed, yet pleasing to be around, vivacious, amorous, and posessing a certain amount of sexual appeal. Thats just the type of woman that a lot of older guys would avoid because they are looking more for the type of woman who is more settled, stable, conservative, etc...

...or not. :)

Oh and by the way I think thats a good thing!!
(if you are the type that younger guys are attracted to)

Congratulations!? :D

Ooooooookay..

I guess that makes sense in a way. I am stable (I guess *twitch twitch*) and conservative, but I do still like to have fun. Hopefully, that's not a bad thing. :)

I still think I'll have to pass on the cougar thing. That's just too wierd for lemonade. :)

I was thinking about this post this afternoon. What you said makes sense if people are judging me by appearances only and never take the time to find out that I was married at 18, have a 17 year old devout christian son who was in the top of his graduating class, was widowed at 32, was a police officer for 9 years, and am entrusted with classified information in my present position. Whodathunkit? ;) And I STILL like to have fun! Hahahahaha

Well now, this new info changes my answer...but not by much :)

I think what makes you attractive to younger men is that you have that certain confidence about you that comes with having worked in law enforcement. I see it a lot in people who've served in the military too. Its a sort of quiet but fearless confidence that comes from having been through a very tough battery of physical and mental series of challenges and surviving it. I think the younger guys can sense this in you and it is a very potent aphrodisiac...especially if you're not bad looking..and I've seen you're pic and you are definitely not bad looking :D

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your husband, and a bit surprised that you have a teenage son, but I for one would never hold that against you. I know that some guys won't date someone who has a kid but not me.

Thanks for your thoughts, zero. Good to hear things from a male perspective. Some things to ponder. It's not like I'm looking for a guy to be with or anything. I think God brings the best things into your life at just the right time. This just struck me as odd and, to be quite frank, was really bugging me. haha

Thanks again :)

Do you look your age? same thing happens to me all the time, but it's cause i dont look my age. Guys are always shocked to find out im 30 and not 20

No problem at all. Its my pleasure :D, and yea it could just be what LoverofGod said, but that would be too easy of an answer lol

Well, I've had guys about that much younger act goofy and try to flirt with me. But that's probably because I look like I could be their age. Lol.

Thanks, ladies! I guess I do look younger than I am most of the time. Or maybe I'd rather just believe this is the problem than to believe I'm weird! LOL

Julianna,

I think you should find a sweet, younger guy and open a lemonade stand together!!! :D

Just kidding--I would actually love to trade you. If guys out of my age range are going to talk to me, I'd feel much less stalked and preyed upon if it were guys say, 10 years younger than the ones who have always tried to talk to me my entire life--10, 20, and 30 years older. I absolutely hate it. I feel like a pedaphile's dream come true or something (these men tell me that they love the fact that I supposedly have some life experience and maturity--though that can be debatable :p--but claim I look like I'm 18--not quite, but I suppose to them I do---GROSS!!!)

I've had a few younger guys try to talk to me--one said he was sick of girls his own age (he was about 10 years younger) because, "When you ask them what they think or what they want, they either don't know or don't have anything to talk about, and when you ask an older woman what she thinks or what she wants, she'll just tell you."

Of course, not all women are like that at all, but I could understand his point.

If you ever need someone to complain to about all this... feel free to mail me. I'd be happy to exchange stories, even though mine are about canes, walkers, Viagra, and false teeth vs. yours being about training wheels and video games.

(JUST KIDDING, GUYS!!! I have two younger brothers whom I love dearly and one actually designs video games for a living, so please don't take offense.)

another thing it could be...from a world point of view there are a lot of guys who like older women, they figure older women are more experianced.

Maybe they think you can cook.

Julianna,

Are you up for a little competition?

I was at work today and had a kid go through my line... he couldn't have been older than 17. He said, "You look hot," and asked, "Do you have a boyfriend?"

I told him, "Uh, I think I'm a little old for you. How old are you?"

He paused for a minute (obviously making up an age) and answered, "I'm 23." (Yeah, right.)

I smiled and said, "I'm 36... a bit too old for you... but thank you."

He at least was nice enough to act shocked. :) Ha!!!

Maybe sharing your story is rubbing off on some of us other 30-something singles... And as I said, I'd rather take that than the senior pool anyday!!!
