I was reading what the guys had to say about shaving in another thread and it occurred to me that most single guys probably have no clue what we LADIES do to get ready for a date. :)

WOMEN:
Pick just the right clothes for the occasion, trying to figure out what HE will think of what we're wearing
The shoes
The jewelry
The purse (then you have to move your stuff from the one you took to work to the one you are taking with you)
Check the toenail polish because it's summertime and you wanna wear those sandals
Showering
Shaving
What some of us call "buffing"
Shampooing
Conditioning
Lotion
Teeth
Deodorant
Makeup (which will, at the very least, probably be mascara, blush and a little bit of lipgloss)
Drying/styling hair
Hair spray
Getting dressed (maybe change your mind a time or two, which means the shoes/purse/jewelry will change too)
Cologne
Fingernail polish check

MEN:
Put some thought into their clothes (maybe)
Shower
Shampoo (maybe)
Teeth
Deordorant
Shave (maybe)
Dry/style hair (maybe)
Get dressed
Cologne (maybe)

Just something to think about when the guys are wondering what took so long :)

Makes me think of this... and sad that he's no longer with us.

Geee, you're just intent on not letting me be happy, aren't you! Not very fun at all. :)

LOL Popclick, I was about to post to Oncefallen in another thread in response to his editting comment that I'd typed "deordorant" in here and the server wouldn't let me fix it. :) I don't know if most guys use it, but the ones I know seem to, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. ;)

Lightning, I thought about that song too while I was typing that last line. :)

Funny thing though, men know they don't have much to work with in the looks department, so they don't try too hard. Now, what about the car care aspect of the date?

Women: Nothing.

Men:
Wash car
Wax car
Vacuum car
Fabreeze car

So there! :p

The only thing I do to prepare for a dinner date is to decide whether I'm going to order the Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake, or the Chocolate Decadent Fudge Cake for dessert (it is not easy to choose, that is why advanced planning is required!!!).

We'll give you this, JimJimmers (but I did that same stuff to my car earlier today...'cept the waxing) :D

OH! Speaking of waxing...I forgot to put that on the ladies list re: the eyebrow check :) Thanks for the reminder :)

I disagree. I love my baby. I literally get giddy getting out of a building and looking at my car. She is my precious. I have no idea how to take care of the mechanics(Besides pestering my dad, Does she need an oil change? Are you sure? Are you really sure because I don't want her running dry!!) but I do keep her groomed... even if I'm the worst windshield washer ever. -_-;;;

Plus I'd be entirely up for my boyfriend(if I ever have one) to drive my baby because she has really, really good gas mileage. In comparison* to what I've seen anyway.

-now I am sad because my car's oil valve or something is leaking on my engine and now the sensors are messed up so my speedometer doesn't work.-

Drying/styling hair

Hmmmmm, I believe I'm seeing a contradiction here. It was just a few days ago I seem to remember this being posted in another thread.

You better figure out how to conceal a generator on your person so you can operate your hair dryer and curling iron. :p

Nah...a ponytail or braid will do :)

Or was this strictly in the context of a kidnapping and not a date? :p

What kind of car is it? One added bonus of your speedometer not working is now your mileage will never go up!

ah, a very Biblical car. It's in the second chapter of Acts.

"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place."

Yeah, I normally don't style my hair for kidnappings or wilderness treks :) If you had Facebook, you'd have seen the sleeping in a tree pic...ponytail style :) Or did I send it to ya? If not, will email :)

Of course some of us drive 19 year old vehicles that are in desperate need of some body work and a paint job in which case you can scratch off the first two. Washing and waxing my truck would be like putting an elevator in an outhouse........pointless, but of course I would spend the time cleaning the interior and if need be a quick hose off with a power washer.

I have also been known to rent a car if I was taking someone someplace really nice.

Nope, haven't seen it. Sometimes I think I miss a lot by not being on Facebook, then again I already spend too much time on here. I really don't need another excuse to stay up late, and not get things done. :o
