I think the more tradional thing to do would be to ask the father, these days though, you might not have that being a good option if they are not a mature christian who has sound judgement.

I also find it weird to ask permission to a pastor…parents for formality I agree on that or unless her dad is a pastor:) ,but glad to hear there are people who have full submission even to their personal life.
