The person who says God does not hear sinners is not speaking God's Word, but his own opinion and is not a godly person. You can't build a teaching around what he says.

First, you do see since JESUS is the word HE is the one who said that right?

So it's not my opinion or my teaching, I don't give my opinion I only share HIS word.

Look at Acts 10 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

Since GOD knows the future he sent Peter to Cornelius to show them how to be saved.

So he hears but only if they are realy seeking.

What happened later in Acts 10?

Yep JESUS filled them with HIS spirit and was commanded to be baptized in JESUS name.

Since we will not enter Heaven with any sins, how do we get rid of them?

BUT if you look at that verse AFTER we have been reborn it makes since.

OT, when they had their sins removed they had to make a sacrifice once and year to have their sins removed.

TODAY when we are baptized in JESUS name we get rid of our sins and after that all we need to do is repent and confess them to JESUS and he will forgive them.

All our works will not earn or make us good enough for salvation.

Salvation is 100% a gift from God
Salvation is 100% by faith
Salvation is not because of our works but because of Jesus's works and blood.

But faith is not an excuse to sin.

Because of Jesus alone we are able to be saved.

Faith in Jesus = Justification (the perfect life credited to us so we are seen as if we have not sinned.)
Faith in Jesus = sanctification (the transformed life given to us day by day.)

Both works and faith are a gift from God.

Works and faith should not be seperated. They go hand in hand and work together.

Faith without works is dead...

Works without faith is useless.. because our works will never be good enough.

Being baptized in JESUS name to get rid of our sins are just 1 part of being reborn, we also need to believe, repent and JESUS to fill us with HIS spirit.

We have GOD'S word and our opinion, so no language barrier if we ONLY use HIS word, BIG languages barrier if we use everyone's own opinion.

Of course this verse stands, 31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

God did get the glory, but the position that God does not hear sinners isn't supported by these verses.

I was wondering what issue you guys were disagreeing in regard to John 9:31 so I did a little Bible study on it. As it turns out, the once blind - and now seeing man that got healed of his blindness was making a general statement that God does listen to sinners.

So I looked for verses in the Old Testament that the healed man was referencing in order to make that statement.

Psalm 66
18 If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened;

Proverbs 15
8 The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked,
but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

Proverbs 15
29 The Lord is far from the wicked,
but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

These are not all the verses that could have been referenced. So the healed man said John 9:31 as a generality based on verses like the one above. In this sense @Ouch is correct.

Since these verses in the OT were general truths - it leaves room for God to listen to a sinner who is coming to repentance and wishing to turn to Him for salvation. In this sense @wattie is correct.


I don't think both of you need to fight over this - you're both correct.
