Of course James did not talk to unbelievers THEN. Those people had living faith
As for lordship salvation. It is just as dangerous as a licentious salvation
your the one who refuses to answer if one can believe yet not have faith (licentious). So I only call out what I see

Surely you can recognize when your words are having their desired effect and when they are not.
Gods word will not return void. Just because he will never see does not mean others can not be helped by the conversation. I have myself changed a view by watching others talk
Sure. But it does say the words that come out of His mouth will not return to Him void.
Not so sure that's true of the words that come out of our mouths
You may be causing some confusion.
Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
A straight forward gospel, so far.
Does James say that works save?
James 2:18-23
But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. But are you willing to acknowledge, you foolish person, that faith without works is useless? Was our father Abraham not justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.
Salvation by grace through faith, a fact!
James is encouraging works in his audience but not for salvation.
The Christian life is faith and works, but salvation is by grace and through Christ alone.
Thats not what faith is for. Thats not what faith does.
We are perfect in the Father's eyes when the Father views us through the blood of His Son. It is faith, not works, that makes this possible. Faith in the power of Jesus' blood.
Not unless faith (our faith) is present.
The Grace of God will not profit the man who neglects to receive it and believe it by faith.
"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
- Romans 10:10
Here is a good dividing line question: Can idolaters inherit the kingdom of God? What about adulterers, fornicators, effeminate, homosexuals, greedy, thieves, etc? According to Paul, the answer is NO, do not be deceived by any preacher who tells you such. 1 Cor 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21
Was Christ any of those? No…then neither am I. I am in Christ and have been given his righteousness. It’s the only way.
All I can say is read the entire Bible.
No confusion at all
Paul tells us straight forward. We are saved by GRACE through faith
We are justified by faith
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by his mercy he saved us
But Paul also speaks of works. Of which a believer, who is a new creation in christ will do.
He fights legalism. In galations he calls them fools..And states they are to be anathema, In romans, he speaks of Abraham, who is justified by his faith in God. Not in his works. Lest he has somethign to boast about.
In Titus, he makes it clear. It is no even by righteous works we have done. But by Gods mercy.
James is taking a different approach. Speaking to people who CLAIM to have faith.. WHo are hearers and not doers. Who are respecters of persons. Who still act like the world. Calling them to inspect their faith. Can that CLAIMED faith save you??
His answer is no.
Paul in romans did say whoever calls on the name of the lord. But are you just saying a sinners prayer with no faith. Or are you calling out like the tax collector.
Paul fights legalism. James fights licentiousness or easy believism, a belief without faith.
Thats why they appear to contradict each other when they do not
And be sure to read verse 1 so you can know the audience and apply the doctrine taught in the letter correctly to that audience.
And such were some of you. But you have been washed, justified and sanctified..
we must be careful who we judge..
Good meme, you didnt read 1 Cor 6:9, it says those who DO these things. No magic coverings
Especially when that justification shows a complete lack of understanding of God’s grace.
It is sad. I am amazed at how people will take a simple passage and make excuses or reasons why it does not say what it clearly says.
I used to struggle with it.. People would use it and I had no answer. If we just open up. and read it for what James was doing. It makes perfect sense.
Instead we make james contradict paul. And ignore other passages and use our pet passages in order to continue in our faulty belief
