I have always been fascinated by just the thought of the gate made of a single pearl.

Can't wait to see it in person!!! Not to mention the Sea of Glass.

I hope that maybe's there's a section in heaven that's made of jewels, or maybe they'll be scattered throughout the entire kingdom.

This is the part that will amaze me the most -- being able to see things like gold and precious gems as God MEANT for them to be seen -- as beautiful expressions of His glory, and not worldly possessions hoarded or coveted out of greed or wealth.

Since roses are my favorite flower, and red is my favorite color, I've always wanted a ruby ring in the shape of a rose -- with emerald leaves.

I could save up and buy the real thing (in the first picture,) but I can't justify the expense, and owning something that valuable would make me nervous.

I've been looking for an imitation version but unfortunately, I just haven't found a style I liked as well.

(And no, I'm not looking for a man to buy it for me -- I would buy it myself.)

Amazing they can cut it so precisely. I don't think I've coveted any jewellery for myself, (just admired the workmanship) but I did buy a chrome fish for my car.

Some Christians wear crosses/crucifixes, but I've never worn any. I don't need gold jewellery to remind myself I'm a Christian or tell others that I am one, but I think the fish sign is universally recognised by others (also I'm a sober driver)

My mum wore her wedding ring AND engagement ring together. My dad never wore any rings though I think he did have one, just never wore it. Maybe it's more important for married women to wear them. And yes you can sell/pawn it if you in dire financial straits, or your husband dies and leaves you a widow. The ring symbolises eternity as its round and has no end. Some get engraved.

I guess if you wear one all the time, it just becomes part of you.

My beef with chains and necklaces is taking them on and off with those tricky clasps. My watch is easy to get on and off, because the clasp on the strap is a large one, and not too tiny. I only wear my watch when I go out. I take it off when I get home.

You know how you have tupperware parties, and lingerie parties and cosmetics parties (is it Mary Kay? Or Neutrogena?) there's also jewellery parties. I remember being invited to one by a workmate years ago, and the host invited everyone to try on jewellery, most of it being costume, and since we were all there in parties like those we feel obligated to buy something.

I remember buying a necklace ( my first ever with my own money) with a silver pendant in the shape of a starfish and it had a pearl on it. It was on a chain. Anyway the chain broke (of course! thanks to my frustrated attempts at opening/closing the clasp by myself) but I kept the starfish and its now in a jar where I keep my special gemstones and crystals, coloured glass pebbles, sea shells etc. The stones/crystals are just tumbled they aren't cut.

The stones I like are rose amethyst, tourmaline, selenite, jasper, turquoise, jade, moonstone, --you can buy the little stone kits that have different ones, and there are geodes, and fossils too.

I have a small collection of pretty shells. I like paua shell, and those sea shells that you can hold to your ear and hear the sea. Scallop shells are also pretty. There is a pointy round shell that I particularly like can't remember the name but I have several, and I had a shell that was engraved with the Lord's Prayer, but I gave it away to someone as a Christmas present.

I wear a wedding ring (simple titanium band) and a Oura smart ring. I have a silver chain with a Maori pendant from NZ. I plan to get another one when I go to Hawaii this year. I'd also like to get a Choctaw symbol pendant, but I would have to find someone who makes custom jewelry.

FYI, in some cultures the wedding ring is worn on the right hand.

I have a couple I saved from a family member's dinner, and a friend gifted me a Swarovski clamshell (with pearl!) that I just love! 💖

It's not jewelry, but I keep it in a special box and smile every time I see it! :)

Yes, along with some cultures, I'd also heard years ago that the... alternative lifestyle community also wears its... uh... "commitment rings" on their right hands.

I used to be particularly cautious about not wearing anything that could be seen as wedding jewelry on my right hand because of this.

But nowadays, with everything seeming to have some obscure meaning (like the rainbow,) I just wear what I want (I have a fondness for multicolor sneakers,) and figure I'll just explain my stance if anyone asks me.

People have assumed things about me my whole life -- I can't stop people from assuming anyway -- nor can I work around every symbolic thing a person can wear.

But they'll never really really know if they don't ask, and if the do, as the Bible says, I'm prepared to give an answer! 😎🥷🏼

Red garnet (ruby) and peridot (emerald) are similar in color and significantly cheaper.

I haven't seen many garnets that I liked (for some reason, I rarely see ones that have the "right" red shade I'm looking for,) but I'll just have to widen my search.

Glad to help. There are other alternatives too. You can take a picture of what you like to a jeweler and they can give you some ideas and prices.

My wife wanted an anniversary ring to match her wedding band. We took it to a local jeweler and he matched it almost perfectly.
