When I was growing up, there was a rather prominent campaign with the tagline, "Cheese, Glorious Cheese!" sang in the form of a jingle, and a lot of times when I'm in the store, I still sing this to myself as a I approach the "Glorious Cheese Aisle!"

I haven't read all the replies, coming much later into this conversation. I recognized that song as a parody of "Food, Glorious Food" from the play "Oliver." Did anyone post this yet?

This is a really good point.

I've been surprised at how some ingredients I don't like or thought I would hate have blended well with certain things.

But sometimes this "Mom" trick backfires.

My Mom tried feeding my brother some kind of gravy with mushrooms, telling him it was just meat, but he still didn't like it.

And then there was the time she tried to fee us tongue, and also told us it was just meat.

But we saw the suspicious little bumps on it -- and that was enough for us to say "No Thanks!":LOL::p
The taste bud layer is supposed to be peeled off after cooking!

Yeah. That. You're not supposed to eat those bumps. Just the meat.

What kinds of cheese are your favorite?
Grew up with cheddar, I like organic mild, love creamy blue vein, mozarella on pizza, brie and camembert. There's also sweet chilli Philly - philadelphia cheese.

* What kinds of cheese do you NOT like? (I'm always fascinated by people who love blue cheese, as even the smell it too much for me.) Or maybe you don't like cheese at all?
I haven't tried them all, but I would say I don't like green cheese. Something is off about it.
Blue cheese is an acquired taste, but once you into it, you are really into it.

* Do you have a preference for cheese to be shredded, cubed, sliced, etc?
Grated cheese to melt, sliced cheese on crackers, crumbled blue vein cheese/feta, cubed philadelphia

* If you live in mixed company (some allergic, some not,) what do you do for family/group meals? If a parent is making some kind of cheesy casserole for dinner -- do they have to make something completely different for those who are allergic to dairy?
If someone is allergic they will say and then I will fix something different but you can get vegan cheese if you look hard enough.

If you want to make me smile - give me cheese!

Okay, I don't know where to put this, cheesy threads? Mac n cheese threads? Pizza threads?
This was the first one I found where it would 'work'

Because last night my daughter wanted a mac and cheese pizza:

and surprisingly it was goooooood.
(can we say 'hello carbs')

😒 missed the edit window to add:

Premade crust
topped with a homemade cheese sauce
topped with a 3 cheese shells boxed mac n cheese made according to package directions
3 slices of american cheese singles torn and added to the box mix after it was made (so the heat slowly melted it in) stirred to mix together well.
Spread out on the sauced crust
topped with left over extra sharp cheddar cheese (that sauce was made from)
in oven 450F about 8-10 min.

Hey Everyone,

I was thinking about this the other day when a couple of chat friends were discussing allergies to dairy products. I have to admit that if I found out I had to give up dairy, I'd be in a lot of trouble. I could put cheese on most anything (including on top of other cheeses, as I like to put a layer of white cheese, and then yellow cheese, on many of my foods.)

For some reason, I also go in phases of which cheeses taste best to me. For a while I'll use mozzarella, then it becomes too bland, so I switch to cheddar... alternating between mild, medium, and sharp -- but lately, my favorite cheese has been colby jack. We have some grocery stores here that have a wide array of interesting-looking cheeses, but alas, they're a little too expensive for my taste.

* If you're allergic to dairy, do you practice strict abstinence, or sneak in a little now and then? How long does it take to recover?

* If you live in mixed company (some allergic, some not,) what do you do for family/group meals? If a parent is making some kind of cheesy casserole for dinner -- do they have to make something completely different for those who are allergic to dairy?

Thanks for participating in a fun, cheesy little thread to kick off the weekend! :)
The best cheese I ever tasted is "La Vache"? I hope I got that right.

The usual cheese I have is Amul. Both Square cubes and slices for using in bread etc.

I have Cheese Nachos.

Cheese balls mostly. Peppy Cheese balls.

Britannia cheese crackers.

I've had cheese cakes. They're very tasty. But those are rare.

I've also supplemented my meals with cheddar, mozzarella, etc. But those are rare. Very rare

A slice of pepper jack makes two slices of bread, a slice of tomato, and a slice of ham (or any meat) a sandwich.

Arrgh a 500g block of organic Mainland cheese costs $14.29

I may have to revise/change my cheese buying.

Don't you know swiss is a religious cheese?
yeah, it's true! It's because it's so full of holes :LOL: it's a holey :LOL:cheese :LOL::LOL:

I remember being 5/6 years old, coming home from church and Mom making meat/cheese sandwiches for lunch. I didn't know what it was called and she actually asked me what cheese I wanted (instead of just making it for me like she usually did) so I couldn't tell her "swiss". I remember telling her "I want the holey cheese"
Wow, that story is so sweet! :giggle: It really almost brought me to tears! (y) Have you told your kids that story too? Do they know what “Holy Cheese” is?

Now I have a story about our cheese, too. I bet nobody here knows that our cheese is holy! :)

P.S.: How could I have overlooked this topic? (Came here from the other cheese topic) After all, I practically live on cheese... 😁 Now I have a lot to read.
