The location of the soul withi the body is by many in the mind but I think of the one commandment to love the Lord with all you heart all you mind body and soul and it got me thinking if it seperates the mind and soul in the commandment surely it must mean that they are separate in us. But does scripture say where it is located or does anyone have an idea where it could be?
People are soul, flesh, and spirit.
Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Luk 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
The spirit goes back to God who gave it regardless of how the person behaved on earth.
Nobody retains their spirit after they die physically.
Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
When a person dies their flesh goes back to dust.
So they do not retain their flesh in the afterlife.
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Job 33:28 He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
Psa 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Mat 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.
The only thing a person will retain when they die physically is the soul which is eternal.
The saints will be a soul with a glorified body.
1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
At the 5th trumpet there are souls under the altar waiting for the saints on earth to join them which then Jesus will avenge them.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
So when a saint dies physically they are with the Lord.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Co 15:35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
1Co 15:36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
1Co 15:37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
1Co 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
Like grain that sprouts the body will sprout to be a spiritual body.
The dead rise first but it cannot mean their soul for they are already with Jesus.
But it means they will get their glorified body first.
And those alive will be resurrected and receive their glorified.
All the saints whether alive or dead will receive their glorified body on the same day or event but the dead will get their glorified body first.
The souls under the altar have not received their glorified body yet for they are waiting for the other saints to join them.
These souls are only a soul, no flesh, no spirit, no glorified body.
But they talk with Jesus and can think.
So the soul includes the mind.
