You're welcome.

You should already know from the other thread that I don't equate ruling with some sort of dictatorial dominance. As I said on the other thread, I equate authority or rulership a lot more with accountability than with anything else. That's not to say that I don't believe that the husband ought to have the final say in the matter, but it is to say that the husband had better be getting his direction humbly from the Lord Himself and I would never admonish any wife to obey any sort of sinful instruction from her husband.

to be clear, since you didn't really address your comment about study of the scripture "in whole" to anyone in particular, i want to expound a bit on my earlier posts.

especially in earlier days, i had a particular love of studying the scripture for the nuanced meaning of passages, through complete study of scripture. my intention of clarifying some of the statements made earlier by poet mary is that she was using examples and study to read inference, and form conclusion that looked a lot like some of what i'd studied earlier. specifically, in college days when i had to write a beast of a paper about my views of the role of family, with supportive exegesis. kephale, ezer, gynaikos, all words used in the bible to refer to woman/wife and the appropriate interpretation of these words, which includes a full understanding of cultural implications and often, that includes further support of documents and text for language use outside the bible (contemporary literature) and so on.

one of my concerns is when anyone does study for the earnest desire of learning and draws (what i feel are) a flawed perspective. sometimes (myself included) have found interpretation that fits my perspective, instead of what is objectively more likely accurate--something we are all subject to when studying something as easily 'viewed with an agenda' when we are really just flawed in our lack of objectivity.

when anyone takes the time and effort to support a point with the depth of study as poetmary has, it's difficult to not reply with the same level of depth and specificity as she presented. otherwise, it comes of as an incomplete, or "because i said so" sort of manner. and that is why i offered some of that appropriate "apples to apples" sort of explanation.

because i came from the generation of the "daughters of the women's libbers", i think there was a pretty necessary effort made to ensure that we fully understood the study of, and intention of what the bible was speaking, as well as the efforts/conclusions often made by my sisters to understand the fullest picture of what the bible has to say about the role of woman, wife, and the relationship she had with men, both in marriage and as singles.

as a result, i was forced to draw my own conclusions, rather than simply accept what i was told by all manner of people and pastors. today, that is something i am extraordinarily grateful for. which is partly why i lack a real zeal to argue with people about stuff that i am pretty much over, in my own head. also, i tend to find more people are really interested in arguing and supporting their point than learning or earnestly searching for. however, when that is the case, i can more than muster the necessary interest. it just doesn't happen as often as i wish it did.

occasionally, i'll get my gander up, but i am more interested in sharing from my heart than my strong's concordance.

further, there is a beautiful part of the study of scripture that can be quite useful and is constantly done which relies upon a depth of study that requires one to study beyond the complete passage evaluated. and that includes what chandler does as he expounds upon the meaning of the word, "kephale'. actually, there are some really cool metaphorical illustrations that can come from the 'kephale' word. one i like is drawn from the building reference, of "chief stone' which presents a point of both strength and order, even example, that is preceded from the following ones.

another analogy looks at the head as a part of the body that functions in unison with the rest of the body, and not unrelated to the illustration we are shown when the body is viewed as different parts. the reference of head there reminds me of how we have sayings about the truth that our body follows, or moves from the direction chosen by the head.

and i loved what chandler shared about "brain" because i think it's an apt example. and i did love what you shared. : )

anyway, i just wanted to make that clear. and i fully agree and support what you've shared. it's a wonderful explanation of something that isn't the easiest to clarify, especially these days. : D

Tradional woman in a biblical way..it should be.

But a tradional woman on how the world defines us, i must disagree.

I can cook for my man, take care of the children but common, i can't just stay at home the whole day!! I am so used of working with my butt hanging all the time... i can't stay in one place, i need to move all the time, women this generation are so used of being independent.

I made this thread because of some rather rude behavior on the forum towards any guy who dared to express a traditional thought.... Im pretty mainstream in general but maybe have a more biblical attitude than some might be able to accept? For me the bible is not a legalistic thing but its does represent the real intentions of God on many issues that would come up in a relationship.... I do believe He intends for the wife to submit to the husband.... (why I posted this ..im not sure) :)

I am with you, i posted some topics that when i look back!?! I was life "what am i thinking that time?!" Lol

And yeah i agree.. all wife should submitt to their husbands, that's why adam was made first than eve in the first place..Headship..leadership..whatever you called it. :)
