I am from a family of 8 and a lot of them are not walking with god at all , they take his name in vain and love to drink every day and a lot of times gets drunk i don't look down at them for that as you said we are all sinners your right and i do pray for them that they will come back to him like i did i some times weep for them . yes you are correct the application I was speaking about is some do go round like here in the BDFThe people worshiping an unknown God were not Christians promoting what others believe to be a false gospel of salvation by works. Just to be clear, I don't go around accusing others of spreading damnable heresies.But it does puzzle me that anyone could think water is what saves when all of Scripture points to the saving power of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Haha I like that, and it is true because somebody usually is wrong, the question is who, and who will admit it? Truth is exclusive after all, maybe we are all wrong, but I doubt it, not on everything, though I suspect we are all wrong about somethingyes you are correct the application I was speaking about is some do go round like here in the BDF

The point was that we are not speaking about non-believers promoting something from their lack of knowledge of God, due to the rejection of His revealed written Word or the living Word of God, or simply not knowing. I was like those men, I knew there was something and I wanted to know what it was, although at the same time I was not like those men because I knew about God but rejected the Bible and religion etc and went looking for something else, making so true the Scripture that says no one is really looking for Him. I was really running away from Him in rebellion and defiance, until I surrendered my opposition to Him, after He revealed Himself to me a number of times. Back to the topic at hand:Saying we are saved by water just strikes me as a very odd thing for Christians to believe when all of Scripture points to the saving power of Jesus Christ, and for anyone to say Jesus said be water baptized or that water saves, that is simply false, since He never spoke those words that we know of. Did He say be baptized? Yes, He did! The baptism that saves is the one He administers of fire, via the Holy Spirit of God. John the Baptists attested to this in all four gospels.

Salvation is passive HeRoseFromTheDead. Its passive because we do not take any part in the Salvation. All a person has to do is believe that Jesus is God. Believing is not an action word. Therefore just by believing we receive Salvation which makes it passive.
We believe and God gives us Faith. We believe and God gives us Grace. We believe and God gives us Salvation.
I do know where you are coming from HeRoseFromTheDead because throughout this whole web site chat rooms you have clearly stated you believe its by our own works that we receive Salvation. Deny it all you want but you do teach Salvation by our own efforts and works.

No, he asked him if he believed because if he didn't baptism would not work. If that were the case, anyone who jumps in a pool would be baptized. Look at Paul's example. Believing did not save him. Fasting did not save him. Praying did not save him. He wasn't saved until he washed away his sins in baptism. Besides, God says baptism saves.

It would be nice to have him answer your questions. We have been dealing with this kind for over 5 months now for me and for some people here its been over a year so we know what is really going on here.
It would be nice for all those that think they can somehow "un-born" themselves to answer your questions.

Your prayers and your example will do more to persuade them than any amount of preaching at them. Gentle discussions (when the Spirit leads) about the abundant life in Jesus, along with your living witness can lead them to Jesus.
Frequently it takes years for people to finally give up the sinful man and accept salvation.
It sounds like you are loving them the best way possible... bless you for that...
What is offered is packaged as having to accept something the natural man naturally rejects, namely, the crucifixion of Christ on the cross for the payment of sin. I don't recall being asked if I wanted to live forever. Some will even say, yikes, what a wretched idea, whatever would we do forever? LOL such a myopic view from this side of eternity! Some non believers do not even want to admit to sin, and of course, how could they? It is a religious idea, after all, and many reject religious concepts for the most part. People are ready to accept that you live once and then you die, and they ask for nothing more even while they will say it is unfair of God to deny them more life even though they reject the idea that He gave them life in the first place. The idea that God could destroy me in hell mortified me, though. Fear is the beginning of wisdom, after all
Let me clarify. How does a believer reject the gift of eternal life? That was the point of your statement, we are obviously not talking about non-believers. The way you presented your post was about a believer willingly giving up salvation and walking away from God.
Ezek 18v26: "When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies."
Matt 24v11: "But he who endures to the end shall be saved."
Matt 25v11,12: Afterward the other virgins came also, saying,'Lord, Lord, open to us!' But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.'
2Tim 2v12: "If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us."
Heb 6v4-6: "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.
Heb 10v26,27: "For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries."
