18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

19 We love because he first loved us.

Yes my favourite verse. Keeps me in check for sure. Shows us to have a spirit of courage and strength. We need to be strong and love to love!

John 15:13

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Love cannot be bought, nor borrowed or sold
Love comes from within
A priceless gift that you hold
Love is a choice
Simply love other people!
For the bravest hearts love
And a cowards hearts evil

"God is love" 1 John 4:8,16

Of course, that does not mean that love is God, but rather that all love comes from God. He is the source, the ground of all love.

"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, [SUP]39 [/SUP]nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

Romans 13:10

Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

1 Peter 1:22

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,

Yes a very important chapter as our faith in Christ hangs on love.
No love for others shows that a person is not a true born again believer in Christ, and that love is to be shown in actions, deeds, speech, and works. Criticizing, name calling, belittling, and demeaning of others in speech is not love. We are called to love, pray, and do good to even our enemies and those who persecute us. Persecuting which is another strong word, because it is another one of those that does not have to been in the physical sense. As people can be persecuted verbally.[/QUOTE]

You could have said all that needed to be said without the bolded.......sounds like you really don't practice what you preach Kenneth.......to forgive, let love cover a multitude of sin, take the reviling etc........

You do realize that Kenneth is only restating what John says over and over again.

1 John 2

[SUP]3 [/SUP]We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. [SUP]4 [/SUP]Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But if anyone obeys his word, love for God
[SUP][a][/SUP] is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: [SUP]6 [/SUP]Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister[SUP][b][/SUP] is still in the darkness. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Anyone who loves their brother and sister[SUP][c][/SUP] lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. [SUP]11 [/SUP]But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.

1 John 3

[SUP]11 [/SUP]For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. [SUP]12 [/SUP]Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous. [SUP]13 [/SUP]Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters,[SUP][b][/SUP] if the world hates you. [SUP]14[/SUP]We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.

[SUP]16 [/SUP]This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. [SUP]17 [/SUP]If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? [SUP]18 [/SUP]Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: [SUP]20 [/SUP]If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. [SUP]21 [/SUP]Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God [SUP]22 [/SUP]and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. [SUP]23 [/SUP]And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. [SUP]24 [/SUP]The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

1 john 4
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. [SUP]9 [/SUP]This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. [SUP]10 [/SUP]This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. [SUP]12 [/SUP]No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

[SUP]13 [/SUP]This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. [SUP]14 [/SUP]And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. [SUP]15 [/SUP]If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. [SUP]16 [/SUP]And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. [SUP]17 [/SUP]This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. [SUP]18 [/SUP]There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

[SUP]19 [/SUP]We love because he first loved us. [SUP]20 [/SUP]Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.[SUP]21 [/SUP]And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

thank you for the encouraging words Utah, and I do like it here should of done this a while back. no arguing or debates here, I like this. were all brothers and sisters, no room for that other stuff.

I just wanted to say Utah that I just love the quote or saying you have at the bottom of your chat profile were it says.... Fear not, little flock, for it is GODS good pleasure to give you the kingdom. that is so encouraging and so true.

yes I agree totally. Look at Paul who GOD chose personally. GOD picked him as a gift to the gentiles and he wrote a lot of letters to other churches in the new testament dealing with certain problems. Paul was full of the holy spirit and still called himself a chief sinner. He new everything was of GOD and he was who he was because of GOD alone.

also just to add on to what I just said. In James I believe its chapter 2 but could be wrong, James states that faith without deeds is dead but also deeds without faith is dead also. you must have faith and deeds working together.

I am asking a question right now, well also making a statement also. Dcontroversal you said that faith, hope and love are spiritual gifts and faith comes before love so faith does not hinge on love, correct? I read in the scriptures that Paul says there is hope, faith and love and the highest is love so all does hinge on love. Am I wrong in thinking that? anyone can answer please.

I just want to do what GOD wants, I will and do want to hear God say to me good work my faithful son and that's all I care about honestly. I am just posting what the word says and that's all. I am not upset at anything or anyone. I would ask people to read romans 14. I do believe but could be wrong that Paul is talking about more than just food and also refers to words and man made traditions. Plus the word of GOD is our food.

I am trying to keep my opinions to myself because I know GOD teaches us all in his timing and were to build each other up not tear each other down. I agree with you brother, you know how the bible says that there is no condimenation for those who are in Christ JESUS? I see a lot not all but a good majority of people not fully trust what Jesus did on the cross and put thereselfs back under condemination.

.............Truth.

1 Corinthians chapter 13 the love chapter is a very important Christian responsibility. you can have all faith and know all mysteries and have all knowledge and speak in tongues but have no love in your heart then all is worthless and benefits you nothing. IF you give to the poor and do not LOVE it is nothing. LOVE is the most important trait in all of life, GOD is pure LOVE.

There are four Greek verbs translated as love; and each of them has a noun form:

1) ἐράω the romantic love of marriage and courtship. [not to be expressed sexually in courtship] (not used in Scripture)

2) ἀγαπάω the active seeking of the well-being of the one loved; regardless of your feelings toward the person.
........................ This is the love we are called to in 1Cor 13, and elsewhere.

3) θέλω enjoy delight in or prefer (Mk 12:38)

4) φιλέω friendship or non-romantic affection (Jn 21:15-17); or the bestowing of a kiss (Ro 16:16, 1Pe 5:14,etc)
