Man shot in movie theatre was texting child's day care.

Sounds like both men are hot heads and overreacted. The shooter should get the book thrown at him. Really???? Shooting someone for texting during a movie. There was no reason for him to think his life was in such danger that he needed to take his gun out and shoot. :cool:
 
What happened to good, old-fashioned communication: talking-to-the-person and at worst, arguing-with-them? That's so very wrong.
 
It's kind of funny that the title of this thread is phrased so that the emphasis is not on the man who was shot, but rather, on the day care being the recipient of his texts.

Obviously this is proof that movie theaters are dangerous, can harm others, and should be banished.

Lol, could not agree more.

I think from now on I'm going to sit in the very top row in a movie theater... it might create the illusion of safety for me after reading this story.

I don't know what could possibly drive a guy to shoot some other guy for simply sending a quick text message while inside a movie theater. Maybe some people find that rude, personally I wouldn't care one way or another. But I guess this guy did. Let's forget the fact that he had a wife and kid... it's still a tragedy that someone would have to die over a text message? It's only worsened by the fact that his wife is now widowed. Truly a sad day, and may God bless his family.

You don't find bright phone lights to be blinding in the darkness of the cinema, when you're trying to watch the movie? And most people are hardly quick in texting during movies. They move at a snails-pace. I can't stand it or when people talk loudly during movies but I wouldn't shoot someone over such an annoyance.

I guess I don't find it to be blinding, because I'm too immersed in the movie I'm watching. And is it really honestly that distracting? I contend that the small emanation of light that resonated from the screen on that guys phone could have been ignored.

But let's say everyone in that theater at the time had their phones out, and they were texting. Does that warrant a death sentence? Give me a break.

I never said that such a thing warranted a death sentence. Please don't make such an illogical jump. As for the blinding light from phones, sure they distract me. Bright lights in a darkened room naturally attract the eye. It just happens. Also, because the light is closer to you than the movie screen. If it's not a problem for you, that's cool but it is for me. The most I would do though, is talk to the person about it.

Nope. "Man Shot". First words used clearly put the emphasis on the man, then describe his actions.
 
It's horrible and sad. I don't know why you have to bring a gun into a theater. I don't even bring my own candy.
