Shalom: My name is Steven and I am a Jewish Believer in Yeshua (Jesus). I was saved 21 years ago at 39 years old. My family disowned me when I discovered Jesus as my Savior and Messiah. After about five years they came back to me and two family members got saved also. I was persecuted all through junior high school and high school. I was called a kike, Christ killer and people carved swastakas on my locker and told me they hoped I burned in a hot oven. This antisemitism made me feel that Christians hated Jews. Obviously these kids were not believers but influenced by Satan. When you reach out to a Jewish person, be sure not to have them believe that they will become Christians. if they accept Jesus. Use the real name of the Messiah (Yeshua). I am a completed Jew and actually became closer to the G-d of Israel when I was Saved. Jesus is Jewish and came to the Jews first. We are still a remnant of Jewish Believers. The Jews must understadd that Christians believe in the Tenach and Brit Hadasha, (The Old and New Testaments). Jewish people believe that the Old Testament is the Jewish Bible and the New Testament is Christian. Our Jewish brothers and sisters must understand the Christian faith came from Jewish roots.May all of Israel be saved so Yeshua will reign on Earth again and the Putins in the world will be where they belong.

A few years back, a combination of the Lord speaking to me in an unusual manner, and a piecing together of historical documentation, including my family tree, has shown me that I'm a descendant of Levi. Shalom.

Hey Steven i am messianic jewish as well. But i did not grow up with a jewish faith i grew up in a catholic family and i am the only one who has a jewish like faith in my family.

Shalom Oblio. So, not only do you have a Jewish history, You are a descendent of the Levites or high priests. I'm from the tribe of Benjamin. It is nice meeting you. I pray you can gain a deep understanding of your Jewish roots.
 
This must mean you had a Catholic parent and a Jewish parent. Regardless of which parent is Jewish, you are. Jewish. The thinking of the Rabbis was that your mother had to be Jewish for the child to be Jewish. This is not Biblical because lineages were always determined by the fathers. As the Jews moved in to diaspora, the Rabbis changed the "rules" since the child was most connected to the mother. Embrace your faith and see what it is like to live as a Jew first and then a completed Jew with Yeshua in your heart.
 
Ben Avraham is a Messianic Rabbi who regularly posts on CC. He is also a gifted story-teller. He seems like a nice guy. :)

I'm so sorry it took so long to reply. I just rediscovered this forum. Thank you for the warm welcome. We named my son Benjamin. I don't know how to tell what tribe I'm from or if I'm from the Levites or high priests.How do you tell what tribe your from. I did the 23 & Me genetic tests and we are definately eastern European Jews.

Sorry it so long to thank you for your welcome. It seems I lost this site. Many Rabbis believe the Jewish heritage comes from the mother. In Scripture it is passed through the father which would make you Jewish by birth. Just look at the lineage of Jesus. He is a descendant from all men starting from Ben David down to the Babylonian exile. In all 14 generations. (BEN IN HEBREW MEANS FROM OR OF.). Welcome to the tribe!

There's no way that someone can trace their lineage back 2,000 years. It really doesn't matter anyhow to Christians.

Galatians 3:28, 29
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise..
"Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham."

God doesn't care what your hundred mixed bloodlines are. He wants us
to do what Abraham did.

I had believed that the father could be Gentile, but as long the mother is Jewish then you are Jewish, didn’t know that was changed.

diaspora = the dispersed Jews living outside of Israel.
