if you turn to Him, God is powerful to break every chain!!
kicking a drug like meth, a person might get sick for a week or two at first without it, and their mind being a prisoner to it, will do anything to get more, no matter how much determination they have to stop at first.
a good thing is to have a friend willing to persevere with the person who is trying to kick, and to keep them from running back to the dealer when the body is craving it. keep the addict hydrated, eating soup and drinking juice and water. keep the addict away from any opportunity to go back to the drug.
most addictions are replaced with new addictions. become addicted to God, in prayer and studying the scripture. He will become a shield, giving strength to meet temptation.
breaking the hold of a serious drug can be done in a week or two. but a lifestyle needs to change. if a drug is a pitfall to someone, for their own sake they may need to also change their habits, like where they go, and the friends they keep - because the devil will be at the door, ready to tempt a person to return to their chains -- God will give strength to resist temptation, but do not tempt God, or you may find yourself back in the same pit you have crawled out of.
