One of the chambers of the Temple compound was called the salt chamber...." This is where the salt was stored. This salt came from the Dead Sea, so it was called the "salt of Sodom." It is the "bitumen" which normally does not lose its savor in taste and smell. If it did, it was then used to sprinkle on the ascent of the altar to be trodden under foot by the priests to **keep them from slipping on the blood. According to Leviticus 2:13, no sacrifice could be offered without salt.

As the Son of Man, Jesus taught His people to become part of the Kingdom of God. Salt is a preservative and its purpose is to continue keeping something in its original state. The Kingdom Movement started by Jesus was never intended to stray away from what God endorsed and delivered from the beginning. It is up to the church to correctly preserve the message that Jesus taught. When it ceases to do that, it will be trampled under foot by the outside world. It will have lost its effectiveness. Therefore, salt losing its savor is directly related to the “falling away”.

I've always associated "salt" in the above passages with humility or being humbled. I've never tied the "salted with fire," verse with being "baptized with the Holy Ghost, and with fire."

From what I understand, saltwater was taken from the Dead Sea as I mentioned before, and rendered by fire. The water was poured in an iron pan, heated by fire, causing the water to evaporate, leaving the salt granules that were then scraped from the pan.

“Salted” in this instance means to be harvested and refined. When Jesus mentions that we are the “salt of the earth”, He is then saying that we, as Christians, need to preserve the food of the Word, and make it taste good, so-to-speak. When we do this it confirms that we have already been harvested, and are fit for use.

Hebrew=salted Strong’s Concordance #4414=Rub into smaller pieces i.e. to pulverize for the purpose of seasoning, so in this case it has everything to do with harvesting. There are two things here that need to be considered, but first, notice the sequence of events that John the Baptist reveals.

Water comes first according to John. Baptize is not confined to water only. Baptize is a Greek word that means to be totally involved, or totally submerged into something, or a situation. So with that said, I see “salted by fire” as being harvested by the fire.

So there is one more thing. If we are already harvested from the water, we sometimes become unusable for the seasoning that God intended us to be. In that case, then, we need to be pulverized, and rubbed into smaller pieces. Think about what happens to salt if it once again is exposed to too much humidity. It gets lumpy.

There are doctrines that teach the Old Testament is extinct. By quoting Jesus in His last will and testament, in the four gospels, these doctrines have no alternative but to conclude that one is trying to make the Words of Jesus Christ extinct also. This is a travesty, in contrast to the truth. We all must understand the truth in that Jesus brings to life, though the Spirit of God, what was written from the very beginning. When the topic of our hearts desire comes up it always reminds me of the Hebrew people in the wilderness when they desired flesh/meat to eat.

Numbers 11:18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

Earlier in Numbers Ch.11 it gives an example of what came out of their mouths because of their desire to have flesh like they did in Egypt. You also see lack of faith by what came out of their mouths.

Numbers 11:4 And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
Numbers 11:5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:

When the topic of our hearts desire comes up it always reminds me of the Hebrew people in the wilderness when they desired flesh/meat to eat.

Numbers 11:18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

Earlier in Numbers Ch.11 it gives an example of what came out of their mouths because of their desire to have flesh like they did in Egypt. You also see lack of faith by what came out of their mouths.

Numbers 11:4 And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
Numbers 11:5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:

There are other examples in the scriptures where God gave people the desires of their heart, both good and not good. I'll leave it at this example as to keep this short...

It is very important in the thread to mention the “Mount of transfiguration”. I’m sure that it will take more than one post to mention all that I have on my mind and heart, so I will start by describing the people that were there at that time, including Moses and Elijah. To set the precedence, there were six people there. The number six represents the weakness of mankind. So one might ask the question, “why wouldn’t there be seven people there during such a Spiritual time as this when seven represents Spiritual completeness”? With that said I’m sure that you will see now why it will take more than one post to define the truth as I have come to understand it.

We will start with Peter. Before the occurrence on the “mount of transfiguration”, Simon, or the Old Testament name Simeon (which means “hearing”) needed to have a name change. Jesus changed his name to Peter meaning rock, or stone. Peter is the same as the Hebrew name Kefa, or Cephas, which means ‘a rock small enough to be lifted with one hand’. It is a name of the feminine gender, but not a girls name, relating directly to the bride of Christ, or if you will the church.

In Biblical terms, anything of the feminine persuasion could be understood as the ground that brings forth fruit after the seed is planted.

Cephas (Peter) means speaking forth the increase of Spiritual awareness by the divine force of the new which is exactly what Peter did in the next passages.

So we will see, in the following posts I intend to present, why Peter was invited to the gathering on the “mount of transfiguration.” As we all might agree, Peter is related to the church, and being present would be a representative of his understanding. Now I intend to put Peter in his proper place. It was not Peter that the church was to be built on. It was his understanding of the truth that the church was to be built on. So then, the church is built on the principles of the truth, not Peter, for Peter is a Rock of principle, and Jesus is the Cornerstone that the principles are built upon.

So to summarize: The name Simon Peter means, “to hear the truth and say so”. Simon hears the truth of the old (unfinished), and through the old, understands the truth of the new, and states the principles of the finished. That’s why Jesus changed his name.

There were two other disciples who were invited to the mount by Jesus also. They were brothers whose names were James and John. The name James is the same as the Hebrew name Jacob meaning creative power of the physical used as the beginning of divine revelation to the unit that is protected. The “physical” means the law and the prophets of the Old Testament. Now Jacob was not of any particular tribe, but was the father of all the sons who became the twelve tribes. Therefore, James represents the entire nation of Israel from the Old Testament invited to the “Mount of Transfiguration”.

Amos 9:8-10 (KJV)

John is the same as the Hebrew name Jehohanan meaning the creative power to see the light, fixed and fastened as a protective cover, accepting of what is coming (hope), always the same but constantly on the move. This was an attitude necessary for a soldier to be effective in battle, as we will see in the following scripture.

The last letter in Jehohanan’s name is the Number 50 that represents Pentecost, the giving of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was on the earth after his resurrection 40 days, and if we count the days from the ascension of Christ to Pentecost it is ten days. 40 days plus 10 days total 50 from the resurrection to the giving of the Holy Spirit.

It is important at this point to understand that there are three disciples invited to the get-together who were all from the tribe of Judah. Only Judah was a "Jewish" tribe. The term Jew was short for Judah. Therefore, all the disciples were Jews from the tribe of Judah because Judah was the only tribe intact during the time of Jesus.

The name “Moses” is an Egyptian name meaning the preservation of life by the direction of the flowing water in addition to the giving of the food (the law) to mankind. Moses was a Levite.

We should also take note that out of the tribe of Judah came the technology to engineer the articles of the temple. What has Jesus done within us seeing that we are now the temple?

Elijah’s name pertains to the power that enables the giving of light. He was probably of the tribe of Levi that was ministering within the tribe of Gad, or Naphtali at that time.

Obviously Moses and Elijah were there for a good reason, which we will understand by the time I finish. With that said, we should understand that both were there because they were representatives of the tribe of Levi. We can for sure know that these two represent the law and the prophets according to the Words of Jesus.

Many have presented that Elijah and Moses are the two witnesses in the book of Revelation. This is a good possibility. Knowing what they represent, I personally, have not the heart to confront them during that time in the future. If that is the case, how can we say in any way, shape, or form that the Old Testament has nothing to offer in these days?

So here we have representatives of two different tribes, Judah and Levi. So what is so special about Judah? Reading Bible history we know that Judah wasn’t conquered when the rest of the tribes of Israel were. We know that the ten tribes missing in this get together were conquered by the Syrians, and are scattered throughout the rest of the world to this very day.

One other thing that is to be realized is that factions of the tribe of Levi were in every tribe of Israel, after they conquered the Promised Land. The purpose was to minister to their respective tribes according to the Levitical law of sacrifice and judgment.

Judah was later captured by the Babylonians, and eventually returned to the Promised Land after the Babylonians were taken over by the Medes and Persians.
Cyrus king of Persia, authorized Ezra and Nehemiah to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple and their work was still standing in the days Jesus taught and walked in its streets.

So again, what was so special about the tribe of Judah, and why were they the only ones to survive the onslaught of Israel?

As I mentioned in one of the previous posts, there were only six people there representing the weakness of man, manifestation of sin, and the evils of Satan.

The number seven represents Spiritual completeness. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand what’s coming.

Moses, Elijah, James, John, Peter, and Jesus (son of man) make six. Adding the Son of God makes seven equaling Resurrection, Spiritual completeness, and last but not least, our Father’s perfection. Awesome ain’t it?

So, the “Mount of Transfiguration” was the time and the place to transfer the Holy Priesthood to Jesus Christ. I can speculate what Elijah, Moses, and Jesus were talking about.

Elijah says to Jesus, “Your Father told me this was going to happen.” Jesus nods affirmatively. Moses says, “So I understand that you are the final link concerning Levi.” Jesus nods again. Both Elijah and Moses say “May God’s will be finalized through His everlasting promise!” and Jesus takes it all on Himself to complete the task at hand, submitting to only one change of the law. After all, it was the perfect will of His Father, that through Him, this change should be.

Yes the same today, yesterday and forever, the covenant made to Abraham, never changed and never will. Even though 430 years later the Law was introduced. Faith remained intact as it counted for righteousness Abraham believed God and acted on his belief, the works that followed his belief, sealed his belief, and God made a covenant with Abraham, and is fulfilled in Son, Christ Jesus. Whom was there from the beginning.
