I just want to reassure you about your father. We do not chose God, God chooses us.

Your father was called by God and served him for many years. When people are dying, they often become depressed and confused. That is their minds, not their spirits. I was a chaplain in long term care, and it does happen that people appear to turn away from God.

But in fact, they know Jesus! Because Jesus knows them, and that is what matters! It’s the same with dementia. People don’t remember their own names, but Jesus remembers them. I hope you will rest secure knowing your father is with Jesus.

Just wanted you to know how sorry I am to hear that your Dad has passed away. You and your family are in my prayers, may you have a real awareness of God's love for you and your family at this time.
 
I just saw this Steph...am so sorry. You all fought the good fight and your father is now enjoying the reward. Even though he may of thought he didn't do enough, he now knows that it was Jesus who did it all for him.

Thats the awesome security of the believer in Jesus.
