thought u were done? lol I see nothing but anoither argument with you friend. I am fully confident and will never move from the Gospel. I been everywhere else and once you know the truth, the search is over. I get what I need to Get when I need it. Because Jesus Lives in and with me by His spirit. again have no care of anyones opinion, insults, mocking or any other thing. if someone doesn't accept me, I'm content. the only approval I need is found in the gospel which is fully approved By God. I don't know anything, I myself am nothing. BUT my faith is in Jesus Christ. ive judged not one person on this site. if I say something and people have different doctrine and disagree, bless them. my views are all found written in the 4 gospels. and that is the Light of Gods word. the gospel rules. Jesus is the King. scripture is divided properly whaen the gospel of Jesus Christ is at the forefront on the throne of our heart. all other scripture in the word is either pointing to the gospel as the truth. sorry u disagree, but honestly I don't need to adjust if my thinking is in Line with the gospel. there is no gospel But Jesus Christ. His thinking corrects me, no other thought is allowed in my mind friend. what did you guys "catch" ben. the answer to this question is clear to me. there is one place in scripture you will find the believers confesion that " Jesus is the Christ, the son of God" Jesus then affirms that confession as a blessing, and says the FATHER revealed this to peter. so matthew 16:15-17.
really don't think u guys see whats there. Jesus asks peter who am I? peter confesses you are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus replies " bLessed are you simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man but by nmy father in heaven."
this is the only place in scripture you will find the agreement between a believer, Jesus, and God the father of the identity of Jesus to the church. How am I always way off and always answer you guys like this? very clear to me who Jesus is. and what the approved view of Him is. Jesus said its a blessing and God reveals it to us that Jesus is the Christ and son of the Living God.

I think it's evident to anyone that follows "vibrant" discussions on here just who are the ones that are trying to discuss in a civil manner, and who are the ones that only want to jump in and call names and be hateful.
Believe me, I understand getting worked up and ticked off... I have to fight that in myself ALL the time, but my goal is to be civil and respectful, even with the ones with whom I disagree. Believe me, my "natural, sinful man" is more inclined to go absolutely medieval on people that treat me with disrespect, but I "buffet my body daily" to avoid that. (thanks, Paul)

My goodness... I'm humbled and flattered beyond belief.. thank you for that... even though I don't deserve it..
I simply try to do what most of us here try to do, discuss our (usually common) beliefs, and debate our differences. Most all of us are civil for the most part, which makes this site a good one.

to worship in Spirit and Truth is representative of Spirit (the Holy Spirit) and Truth (the Son/the Word). The Son IS the word ... the Holy Spirit presents the word and teaches the word and gives power to follow and obey the word.

I think we as humans have a difficult time wrapping our heads around that, because it's not "like" anything else we have seen.. ever.
I can say I "understand" it, and even sort of believe I do, but then other times the distinctions just don't seem as clear.
When I read the book "The Shack", I saw it in a different, probably better way. I'm sure it's not the perfect description of the interaction and the oneness of God, but it's pretty good.

You are so off the mark with this statement it goes beyond comprehension. It would do you well to listen to brothers like B1 who are offering you the Word of God. But sadly, you are so blind to your own self righteousness that it will indeed take nothing short of the Holy Spirit to open your heart, mind and eyes. You are prayed for, believe me.

Yes ... I understand exactly how you feel ... the trinity and it's compexities are so far above us! One minute I feel I have a firm grasp ... then poof it's gone-lol

I would be careful with fallible writings from fallible men. Roman Catholics love to quote the early church fathers in their efforts to back up baptismal regeneration and other false doctrines as well, which is a red flag for me!
That settles the question for the Roman Catholic, who is amazed that Evangelical Christians have the audacity to disagree with these fathers on this matter. It may come as a surprise that Roman Catholics and others as well do not follow their practice. For example it was common practice that the candidate was immersed three times, whereas the modern Catholic rite consists of pouring water on the head. Before baptism, the candidate was anointed with "oil of exorcism" while the presbyter prayed, "Let all spirits flee far away from you." Apart from the fact that there is no scriptural warrant for this anointing, they were also mistaken in their belief that this oil served for the remission of sins even before baptism:
Now this is blessed by the high priest for the remission of sins, and the first preparation for baptism. For he calls thus upon the unbegotten God, the Father of Christ, the King of all sensible and intelligible natures, that He would sanctify the oil in the name of the Lord Jesus, and impart to it spiritual grace and efficacious strength, the remission of sins, and the first preparation for the confession of baptism, that so the candidate for baptism, when he is anointed may be freed from all ungodliness, and may become worthy of initiation, according to the command of the Only-begotten (Apostolic Constitutions, XLII)
During baptism, the candidates had to remove their clothing and stand naked in the water. The newly baptized was not allowed to take a bath for a whole week. We should not feel obliged to follow these fathers in their unscriptural inventions, changing the simple ordinance of Christ into a superstition, not to mention their disregard for public decency. (See Tertullian, The Crown; St Hippolytus of Rome, The Apostolic Tradition).
I read an article in "The Ex-Catholic Journal" that says some of the writings attributed to the church fathers have been found to be forgeries, while others have been taken out of context. Doctrines such as the Immaculate Conception, the Assumption, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the papacy, purgatory and transubstantiation, infant baptism, baptismal regeneration are alleged to be supported in these early writings. I hear Roman Catholics quote the church fathers a lot to support their doctrines. The article went on to say that most of the copies of copies of copies of the church fathers that we possess today were copied during the time that the Roman Catholic church controlled the flow of literature in Europe. We do not have any original copies of their writings, only copies of copies of copies. God promised to preserve (His Word) found in the Bible, but not these early writings of the church fathers.
