I disagree. Luke 11 predicts the events of Titus fulfilled in AD 70. where there was greater destruction in Jerusalem that had ever been before. The city was prety much leveled. I would say they paid a prety deep price. They have been out of their city. with no temple for close to 2000 years now.

So your saying the destruction of Jeru in 70AD was not a result of Gods judgement on that city?

I will be honsest here. I have studied end time eschatology for many years. And although it has been a few years since I have looked into it. I never heard jerusalem called the harlot until I heard it in here.

I would not call it a common opinion unless it became common within the last few years.

When I first looked up 'whore of Babylon' on wikipedia it listed the RCC and Jerusalem as the most common opinions.

Last year Jerusalem disappeared from that webpage.

Why do you think that is?

The reason you never heard about Jeru as the whore is because the woman keeps herself WELL HIDDEN.

I think it is a stretch to say the City of rev 11 and the city of rev 17 are the same. It does not make sense for John to be told by God that Jerusalem is sodom and egypt. And not call her bebylon if that is what he meant to call her.

Number two The city in revelation says the city has control of nations and kings. Jerusalem has never that I know of , ruled anyone. Not to mention. revised Rome is said to be the final great power. Jerusalem is not rome. Nor would rome ever allow jerusalem to have that great of power that it could influence other nations under roman tyrany. which is going on at this time.

as with all scripture. scripture must agree. not contradict. It all sounds good on paper. But does not make sense when taken with other aspects of scripture.

Actually I get the roman thing from the prophesies of the 4 kingdoms in daniel. I like to take daniel and parallel with revelation since they both speak of end times.

also remember, by the time revelation was written. the jews and what they believed were few and far between. Most of the church was gentile by this time and would not be thinking jewish things. I doubt many gentile chrisitians ( would would be the first readers) would have assumed jerusalem as a power on earth.

Strangelove is correct in comparing Rev and Daniel for they tell the same story.The Beast in Rev 13:1-3 has all of the parts of the four beasts in daniel 7 :1-7 Lion (1 head), Bear (having 1 head) Lepord having 4 heads, 4th beast having one head Makes the seven heads on the beast having all their features in Rev . However when the term mothers of harlots is used here in Rev 17: 5 it is talking about the Roman Church we know this because the seven heads are mountains and Rome is the only religious entity to sit on 7 mountains, not to mention what any encyclopedia will tell you confirming Dan prophecy in chapt 8

Although I struggle to fully understand revelations, I have often wondered if the thinking that these events will happen somewhere else in the world seems almost set in self.
When all began in egypt, sodom ,Isreal, from what the scriptures speak to, all will be finished there as well.
I cannot speak well as to spacificly where, it seems this is what the scripture speak to.
But if Im misinterpiting forgive me, and all help in this is welcomed.

I have often considered that when the times are here, full understanding will be given .
So that no deception shall confuse those in Jesus.
