I would like to solicit your opinion and feedback on Natural Family Planning. Do you see this as a form of contraception or rather a natural means of ensuring a husband and wife are ready to fulfill their obligation of marriage in bearing children.

Hello Tom :) Could you please tell us where in Scripture it is written that
a husband and wife have an obligation in marriage of bearing children?

Well I would think it is obvious that the marriage itself is family planning. Seeing as you got married, which means that you are having sex, you may have children as a result, this is just naturally what happens. Just remain faithful to each other and take God's blessings as they come and you will be okay, in Jesus name, amen.

I would think natural family planning its what couples do to ensure they have a family together.
as far as pregnancy goes, sometimes its easier to have children during spring as being pregnant over winter is probably more comfortable. Then preparing things like the nursery and beds etc.

I think the opposite, artificial family planning is a way to stop people having families. especially if they are unmarried. So its a bit of a misnomer.

hmm I dont know if couples are OBLIGATED to have children together. if they dont have any they are still meant to love each other till the end of their lives together.

Hi,
As opposed to artificial fam planning (FP), I understand it as simply planning and preparing ur family as u foresee ur future as a couple w/ or w/o children. Artificial planning often implies the use of certain reproductive health services and contraceptives, naturally accepted in more developed countries. FP involves preventing risks to women who have health problems, spacing pregnancies, helping reduce teenage pregnancies (tho not that many teens really decide to marry first but often get pregnant while still not married), also slowing down population growth.. Practicing FP is also acting responsibly coz every child that comes is real responsibility for many yrs to come, but if a couple who didn't have FP has a child does not mean they cannot and will not bring up the child in the nurture of the Lord if they are God-fearing.

Err, yes...clarification please.

I only did a simple search and based off that...naturally you could either do the "catholic" method of timing cycles or abstaining.

Is this what you mean? Herbally there are options...but a lot of those are quite risky and pharmakeia at worst depending on what motivations/heartset you are coming at this with. Also some of these seem essentially abortive and taking your own life into your own hands (my body my choice) kind of thing. !

If you want a large family, natural family planning is your choice. It usually yields a child about every 12 months.

Having sexual relations with your spouse does not guarantee chidren.

Don't waste your time on it.

If you're trying to avoid pregnancy there's still a chance it will happen. Sperm can survive 5 days and I've known people who had sex 5 days before pregnancy and got pregnant. About 1/4 women will get pregnant on this method. Um.. If you know statistics of pregnancy monthly with no method it's exactly the same.

If you're using it to constantly get pregnant...well hopefully you're rich and have the time. Otherwise seems really irresponsible.

Babies are considered a "blessing" not an "obligation" in the Bible.

Did they have contraceptives in the Bible?

I wondered how many children could come from this natural method, and I found this:
