Please, I need a Loud Low Pitch DING or Buzzer, on your Private Messages counter. WHY? I am 71, and have already had 7 strokes, I live alone, and my sister wants to check on me, to see if I am okay. If she sees, that I am on line, and do not respond for sometime, she will call 911, which is Emergency here in the USA. I have a hearing loss in high ranges, so a buzzer would be better for me, but I think others would prefer it be a low range ding. Thank You for considering the change.

Not real wise to give out your email on here, VCO.. I'd have that removed.

Hello VCO, I am so sorry to hear of your medical concerns and hearing loss, and the stress it causes your sister when you do not immediately respond the her. Are you on a phone, or using a PC? Do you have Skype installed? It is a messaging program that can be used for testing, audio, and video, individually/separately or being used in combination/all at once. I think it comes installed on most PCs but you need to set it up and sign in using an email account. When you have Skype open/running in the background, the icon in the task bar will show when there is a message you have not read yet, and also bloops when new messages come in. Sometimes the bloops are a bit muted or even absent, but if you have the program open you can always periodically check for new messages or simply look at the icon in the task bar, which will show if there are any new messages, and how many there are. I hope that is helpful to you :)

The software the site is built on does not do well with customization, so chances of this even being able to be put in place is very slim.
As suggest Skype may be a useful fix for this. Your sister could call you through Skype. On your computer it would ring, and also a little box pops up giving you the option to answer. It could be audio or video calls. It may be worth looking into.
