A few years back I was in your neighborhood in Slovakia. It's a great place with a great history and awesome culture.
The biggest trouble I had was finding some strudel....it was summertime so I can somewhat understand it. Poppyseed strudel though is almost a basic food group all by itself.
I absolutely loved the people and their unique perspectives.
We were there for an English workshop to help schoolchildren learn English.
The sausages, fresh bread from local wheat, honey, and ice cream were awesome. I can't say enough about them. All locally produced. (Beer too)
For theological discussions.....well this is the internet. There are a few here who tend to do well.
I believe along lines with an originalist perspective. Meaning I try to understand the scriptures as the original author and recipients understood them.
Lots of anthropology and history and language skills needed to understand what was said and why it was said the way they said it. It doesn't make me popular at parties...but I enjoy myself at them.
Welcome!
Both the Slovaks and us Hungarians have great food. Poppy seed strudel...
I am general secretary at a baseball club in Hungary. We call is a baseball club, but it is more of an opportunity to transform lives. We call upon American baseball coaches and many volunteers to come here and share their testimonies how Jesus changed their lives. Summer camps, international tournaments, concerts, coaches clinics, all opportunities to share the Good News.
I do have a dream, but I do not know how to make it happen. The baseball field is surrounded by land that is agriculturally used and has many owners. My dream is to have a small limited service sports lodge there with maybe around 20-40 mobile houses each housing 4-6 players. The city of Érd, which has 70.000 inhabitants could easily support a facility like that. We could invite other team to camps and tournaments without impacting their finances too much. We could invite more people to share testimonies. Érd, being a town of 70.000 has barely any accommodation. What my greatest fear is besides where I would get the money from is to attract the wrong kind of investor who is more interested in making money then at the purpose of the facility.
Last year we visited Cincinnati and were guests of Prasco and the Cincinnati Spikes. It was so great to see a company genuinely caring and maintaining a fantastic facility like Prasco Park...Since then I would like to have a similar partner in Hungary as well... if God wills it...
